  1. That's great - in the meantime it would be ideal if we didn't try and support strategies that would harm the club financially.
  2. So, many "Educational Institutions" are running around town creating reports on how damaging AFL pokies revenue is and excluding all others? If this is true it is laughable and I'd love to know who is funding these studies. Pokies are a blight on society but a fool and his money and all that. While they are legal I see nothing wrong with footy clubs profiting from them, better that than Bruce Mathison, Lloyd Williams, Packer, Woolies et al
  3. He may only ever be a solid B class player, but no team has ever been stocked from top to bottom with A graders. Having a core of solid B class players is a requirement for a successful team.
  4. They're creating reports on how damaging AFL poker machines are to the community? Or just poker machines in general?
  5. That will never happen - one because sports rights cost faaar too much to give away that cheaply (ESPN pays $1b a year JUST for the Monday Night games ie 16 games a year for a billion dollars) and secondly because the Netflix model is based on undercutting their competitors. Once they have cornered the market satisfactorily their prices will increase.
  6. How many people are going to pay for MFC games vs Pies, Bombers, Hawks, WCE, crows etc Those clubs will use that as further ammo to say they should get a larger slice of the revenue pie and the weak-kneed and conflicted Commission and CEO would buckle instantly.
  7. It's a professional sport. I don't mean to sound harsh but if you don't like it there are amateur/semi-pro leagues you can follow. But you won't get anywhere near the tv coverage.
  8. Our club would suffer immensely under that model.
  9. How much would you be willing to pay? Alsoremember splitting the rights by club would be bad for smaller clubs like ours. The likes of Collingwood would love to be able to sell off the rights to their games individually would create a greater divide between the haves and have nots.
  10. I don't like it but that's the price of a $2.5b deal.
  11. If you have a VPN you could sign up to the international WatchAFL pass and hook it up to your tv through your laptop. However for the price it's probably cheaper to get Foxtel for the footy season- theyve got a deal $39 for SportsHD pack for 3 months
  12. I've loved Salem since his debut and reckon with a decent uninterrupted run at it he will prove to be one of our most valuable players. He is class with a touch of mongrel.
  13. Unless you're playing in a Grand Final next week
  14. It is no longer "MRP" it is Michael Christian.
  15. People writing off Brayshaw? Crazy. Only about to commence his 4th season and his short career to date has been massively hampered by injury. He'll play midfield/wing rotating through the flanks like about a dozen other players. And he'll be a key part of our team moving forward. He's still about 2-3 years off hitting his peak.
  16. LOL @ Stringers haircut
  17. We looked good. We were playing the worst team in the comp though so make of it what you will. Loved ANB, Lever, Fritsch & Hogan. Anyone who watched the game closer than I did able to comment on Fritsch's defensive work? He looked good particular hitting the scoreboard later in the game but if he doesn't have the defensive skillset yet I'd have Bugg in the R1 side over him.
  18. Kind of ironic considering one notorious poster used to refer to this site as "Strawberry Fields"
  19. Fantastic news about the sponsorship
  20. How good was Roger Waters? 74yo and the guy still has it, always puts on a hell of a show too! I did the same thing, took the opportunity to wander over for a look while waiting for people beforehand. I didn't realise how far back from swan st our training oval at Goschs is, I thought it was directly next door to AAMI Park. The little triangle pocket being proposed for the new facilities looks ridiculous as you walk up but once you get there you can easily imagine a multistorey development being quite suitable for our needs
  21. Chadstone is the other side of the world for those of us in the north west suburbs
  22. I disagree, the expectation is there that we will make finals this year internally and externally.
  23. It was actually 5th in the AFL Prospectus so not sure where this list came from.
  24. Having read some of champion data's AFL prospectus I thought they'd ranked the Pies midfield 6th, not 3rd. Could be wrong though. They do have a decent top end of mids in Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Treloar.
