When do you think we had Lever sewn up? Lynch to Tigers? Scully when he jumped to the Giants? It wouldn't surprise me if there are unofficial MOU's a year out

    But who wins the GF?

I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying. But I also accept that success doesn't happen overnight, it is a journey and there will be hiccups on the way. When those hiccups happen it is ok to be disappointed but to me it's disheartening when, for example, supporters start calling for a second year coaches head instead of acknowledging he is on a journey too and has done a pretty decent job to date.

Not directed at you specifically mate just a general comment. FWIW I don't doubt the love and dedication everyone on here has for the club, we're all Demons tragics. I just hate the constant negativity sometimes - I don't mind negativity in reaction to current events (ie "we played rubbish on the weekend") what I can't stand is the bleating about the past ("we've been crap for my whole life, we'll never win a flag, this club is soft" etc etc) I also get this site is a good outlet for some people. I can let some odd comments slide but when it's repetitive and the same thing brought up in every single post it's draining to read. I've been negative in the past myself notably during the latter days if Schwab's reign but I feel that I had good reason to be at that time. We've currently got a great young list, a very good young coach and stable admin for the first time in my life. I guess I just don't understand why people would still be negative considering all that instead of just enjoying the ride.

Turning up to games is great, buying memberships is great, no one denies it's been a tough slog since our last flag and particularly the last decade. Letting your anxiety and frustration out on the current group of players (they can definitely feel the crowd vibe out on the G) is not being supportive. Throwing your hands up in the air and crying "same old Melbourne" is not being supportive. It's not a tough concept to grasp, I'm not sure why so many find it so difficult.

Being positive and supportive isn't accepting mediocrity.

There's a difference between criticism/discussion around selection or performance and the Henny Penny sky is falling wallowing in misery that goes on. I think you're smart enough to figure out the difference between the two Jaded. I also give people some leeway after a gut wrenching loss (for example), people get emotional and this is a good place for venting - but when people are still going on and on about how the club has wronged them etc the Thursday after a game it's just sad.

Mate no-one denies it but we also don't need to be reminded of it every 5 seconds

Great post 55. Some people don't seem to understand that destabilising negativity is counterproductive and undermines the support they may contribute financially or by attending games.

No-one is going to criticise a decision that favours one of the AFLs darlings (Swans or Giants).
  11. I hope so because we might be the feel good story that the umps contrive to get a flag to.
  12. I don't disagree but they would be feeling the heat from supporters who thought Ablett might be the difference between 3rd and a flag.
  13. It really is swings and roundabouts - if the two games against Geelong went the other way the Cats are sitting 12th and missing finals after overachieving the last 2 season's and topping up with Ablett to have a tilt with Dangerfield in his prime and Selwood on the downward curve. Does Scott still get a 4 year extension if that's the case? My wife is a cats supporter so I see a lot of their games. A lot of cats supporters are not overly enamored with Scott.
  14. Just 2 kicks going the other way and we'd be sitting 2nd on the ladder playing to set up a home QF this week.
  15. Our win late in the season 1990 was good too
  16. [censored] off you clown ?
  17. Weideman showed me something today that I didn't know was in him. The way he attacked the ball in flight was fantastic, he clunked one or two and with a bit more luck would've had a lot more. Some more experience and he'll be smashing packs and grabbing marks. I've loved Spargo since his first game, still needs to learn not to drop in and out of games but there was one effort in particular (3rd quarter) where he got that ball on defensive wing, ran forward kicked then buttered up at the next contest. Kids gonna be a player, he has heart.
  18. Must've been that camp they went on. Wait, what?
  19. Told ya so
  20. No [censored] Sherlock ?

McGovern was thrown forward last week, do we think he will play forward it back? With Hogan out they might think it's better to have him down forward with Darling to stretch our defence.
  23. He made the veil of negativity comment after receiving negative comments from supporters after we BEAT the Lions. Similar thing happened a couple of weeks ago when we thrashed the Suns people in the crowd still whining and moaning. He was spot on, people need to harden up instead of acting like a bunch old sooky ladies. Support the team for Christ's sake, do you think Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca etc deserve to carry around your 5 decades of baggage? What did they have to do with us missing the finals in 1976? Support the club or stfu.
  24. And yet if Gawn kicked straight from 20m out directly in front we bag the 4 points. Game of inches.
