No it opens a new tab asking me to log in to Facebook It happens with all these videos linked from channel 7 I've just never bothered mentioning it before

Any chance we can get the video embedded without a link to facebook?

That should read classic crumbing but I can't edit

In addition to Gawn Oliver Brayshaw and Hogan's games I liked Spargos game. The kid is just a footy player, that goal he kicked to the city end was classic criminal, got front and centre and read the play beautifully.

Because we started playing more direct footy. It's frustrating watching us play around the boundary and kick down the line to contest when we have the talent on the park to go direct and play down the guts. A 50 point win is always a good day but our structure still frustrates me. Our forwards start too far up the ground, we don't open the field up by switching play and instead kick into the wall from the flanks all the time which makes us easy to defend. The 2nd half was much better but they need to take the game on more, we're good enough to and make opposition pay.

If Bugg is fit I'd play him ahead of jkh any day of the week.

Happy 160th Birthday Melbourne Football Club
Dr. Gonzo replied to wonnabeeri's topic in Melbourne Demons
I sit next to a Richmond supporter at work (in her late 50s/early 60s probably). We were talking about the Yarra Park proposal and she made a comment about us moving in on Richmond's territory - I had to remind her we were there first to which she replied "really?" I had to give her a history lesson and explain Melbourne created the original rules, were the original club, the oldest professional club in the world and only let Richmond play home games on our ground in the mid 60s. She was surprised to see Richmond were a latecomer not even being a founding member of the league. -

"Sheffield Football Club is an English football club from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, although now based in Dronfield, Derbyshire. They play in the Northern Premier League Division One South, at level 8 of the English football league system." 8th Division doesn't count We play in the top league -

Jordie McKenzie just behind Oliver in the tackles stat!

It's amazing he's only 50 games in, I just take for granted that he's going to win clearance after clearance and get the ball out cleanly to teammates. May have to work on putting the ball in front of players a bit more instead of directing it at them but that's nitpicking. He's a freak and as he grows he will add those other strings to his bow such as goal kicking. He is easily the best mid I've seen play for the Demons (I'm 36) and it's not close.

Wait, did Lewis seriously cop a fine for that "bump" on Walters at the end of the game? Jesus Christ this sport is gone to the dogs.
-
Poor disposal, only runs in straight lines and often gets caught for running too far. He can fix 2 and 3 but I don't think his disposal will ever be as good as Gaffs.

I'm not usually one to bag players for no reason I just noted that he opted to hack it out of midair on 3 occasions - he was pinged for in danger the last time and I thought he was pretty lucky not to get done for it earlier. I accept he may have been going the percentage play (I even said as much in my previous post) but I did note that it stood out especially considering he kicked it out of midair rather than off the ground.

Send the Saints up there they need the cash

Lewis opted to try and hack the ball out of mid air rather than pick it up at least 3 times last night, being pinged for in danger the final time. Not sure if laziness or he just has an old man's back (or thought it was a better option given the conditions) but it stood out

I don't understand why the umpire should be able to call a video review in that situation at all. No score was called, play went on then in a different piece of play Garlett kicked a goal. How far back are they allowed to go with the video review? If no score is called at the time of the incident then it is "play on" and the umpire should not be allowed to revisit it after the fact. What if play had continued for 30 seconds in the goal square between Petracca running into the post and the eventual goal? Still subject to review?

My favourite part was when he was analysing the Brayshaw kids backyard footy match that he didn't see 10 years ago.

I wish that were the case but when the AFL holds you over a barrel you don't get a day in these things

In the VFL against a team who didn't score a goal.

I'd love to see him play up the ground more. Kid has good goal sense which is invaluable. Salem to the middle, Jones to half back? I know we like his kicking out of defence but it feels like were not using him to his full capabilities.

The first thing is partly to blame for the second. Not only do we let easy goals out the back when we press so high, we congest the space in our forward 50 meaning it's impossible to pass to a free player and also impossible to get a free shot at goal. How many times do we get the ball inside 50 and have to handball 4 or 5 times to try and get a player with enough space that they can actually have a shot at goal? Push the press back a bit and we will intercept further up the ground allowing us to open the field up more and slice through opposition defences easier. We're getting so much of the footy but not doing enough with it. It's been our problem all year so I'm not willing to pass it off as bad conditions. That was a 100 point win last night but we left 8 goals on the table. Two set shots from ANB and one from Gawn for starters plus probably at least 2 or 3 each from Hogan and Petracca. Brayshaw sprayed a couple as well on the run. We really should've smacked them although our conversion picked up after half time. The players looked absolutely stuffed after half time too so of it impacts our ability to run out the game next week I'll be furious. I don't care what benefit we get from these games financially, it ruins our run home when the players can't recover for their next game or 2. I'm not convinced having the bye or an "extended break" before QBD is going to help much either.

Out of all the must win games this is the must winningest
