  1. Never saw him play but met him a couple of times at club functions. He was a great man who loved to chat footy. His No Merger stance really resonated with me. Must’ve been hard for him as I think it strained more than a few relationships in his life. Vale.
  2. I had a coach in u/16’s, one week in preseason, make us kick only banana, torps, snaps and end on end grubbers to help us with our skills. I always felt it worked. And I got quite proficient at the 20m stab torp. Could nail that kick. Maybe we should have the boys play soccer with an Aussie rules footy?
  3. It’s always nice when you’re struggling as a KF and you get to play back for a few weeks. Your head feels better, less punches to the ears and the ball isn’t just dumped on you.
  4. He’s not ready yet but Disco would be on my list in 12-24 months.
  5. I quite like your posts but this one made me laugh. The list and game plan are the responsibility of the FD and we are bloody awful and entrenched in the bottom 4-5 teams. We are already in the ‘wilderness’. Not trusting your team’s effort, lack of understanding by the players as to what is expected and how to perform, lack of ability to execute basic skills of the game, poor contract structure with players not playing to their potential, lack of player development, lack of assets to effectively trade in new talent and the inability to attract talent…… that’s us. AKA Wilderness
  6. The 3rd quarter pile on by GC was the end of the game. Their effort level and run died off early in the 4th and allowed us to get some momentum but they were definitely not running on all cylinders. In the good old days, 2021-23 we would often do the same to weaker sides.
  7. 2 things! 1: I’ve stated many times on here, our plan at the draft was have 2 live picks in the 1st round while we were in the ‘Premiership window’. That is from JT. JT is of the opinion that you need access to the top 10-15 to draft elite AFL players. We intentionally traded multiple picks in the top ~ 25 to get 2 picks in the 1st round as high as possible. 2: Limited preseason. Playing half back. No form line at Casey. Team getting belted. Played as sub. How do you tell someone you’re mismanaging a players career without actually saying it? ⬆️ The kid is talented. His kicking needs to improve. But like a lot of kids, he needs to settle into a position that plays to his strength. I think Goody thought Windsor’s run and carry would be the panacea. It’s a lot to throw at a 2nd year player. #mismanaged
  8. I had a quick squizz this morning and agree. Looked to me like Jefferson and Petty to be the tall forwards. Not much else to report other than Viney still looks sore. Getting the feeling that this is not the week that Goodwin throws the magnets in the air and puts May forward and Maxy at CHB. 😬 Not expecting wholesale changes tonight either.
  9. I hope Kolt plays VFL. He should be ripping Casey games to shreds by now. He needs to be held to the same standards as other youngsters. It will be interesting to see who we prioritise for a negative role. Anderson or Rowell? I’d go after Anderson personally. Is Lindsay fit enough to learn some lessons? Something different for him and the midfield group. I’d get Clazz to start on Rowell’s shoulder at all times. Chin to Rioli. Push Salem forward, bring McVee up a little into Salo’s role. Simples…. Oh and try anyone not named Disco Turner as a key forward. Literally anyone else. B Howes May Lever B Bowey Turner McVee C Langdon Viney Langford F Petracca McDonald* Melksham F Pickett JVR Salem R Gawn Oliver Lindsay Windsor Jefferson Rivers Laurie Fritsch Out Sparrow Petty In Jefferson Laurie McDonald If Petty gets picked to play forward this week I will demand a Senate Inquiry. *I understand that McDonald is unlikely to line up as a forward.
  10. I’ve heard old mate is not popular within the playing circle. I know who you are referring to and I think it will come out once the AFL figure there is nothing to it. For them.
  11. I recall watching him and thinking he was going to be a gun. Shane that is. I have a photo of him somewhere playing reserves with a young Schwarz at the G. Schwarz may have played in #55 that day. 🤔
  12. I wonder if they’d rethink that given the issues they are having with that prat from the Dogs.
  13. That’s the ticket. Thanks. It’s has bugged me all day.
  14. Didn’t we have another Bergman come through the U/19’s with Neitz? I seem to recall we’d have a spine of Lyon, Nietz, Schwarz and Bergman at one stage…
  15. If we had the assets (I don’t think we do) to get a deal done, we owe it to Max to try to sign him up. He’d make a significant difference to our team. We’d have one key forward for starters as opposed to whatever we have right now. It’s completely illogical to say we wouldn’t be better off with him. The amount of times we’ve transitioned the ball only to have it come back with interest due to a lack of contest from our key forwards has demoralised the team. Imagine having someone who can legitimately win more the 50% of his contests forward of the ball. Not to mention our dogmatic kick it down the line to Max approach. We could do the same to Harry. Still, as I suggested, I believe it to be moot. We haven’t the assets nor would playing for us appeal to a tall forward who would conceivably have his choice of destinations. Focus on Bergman and ask Sydney if Florent is looking around….
  16. We had a huge crack at him a couple of seasons ago. Met with some players. They thought he was a chance to come across then.
  17. His old man was such a compact player. I hated seeing him play for Port although it was good for his career. Hope his form continues to trend upwards.
  18. How good was the weekend?!!!! Nothing to worry about, some lovely winter weather to help settle my into a few Pinot’s. Life was good! Then realised we are playing GC17 up there this week! You know life as a supporter is bad when the Bye is your saving grace.
  19. I posted a month or so ago that the top 8 will take 13-14 wins. I just had a go at the Predictor over lunch and I have GWS in 8th with 14 wins. Crazy. When you have West Coast, North and Richmond anchoring the bottom of the ladder the way they are, there’s plenty to beat up on. Then you throw in clubs that have [censored] the bed like Sydney, Carlton and us, you can see why it takes so many wins to qualify.
  20. This is my point. You’ve done a better job than I did of putting it forward. We have been completely unrealistic about our list and gameplan. So much so that we have a stated aim of finals and for two consecutive seasons and won’t be close to them. My next question is; who on Demonland legitimately thinks we can be Premiership contenders in 2026? My answer is absolutely no chance. So, in my opinion, we either build toward the next one now or continue to slowly sink. Does Goodwin figure in that next Premiership? Can we inject enough talent and smarts into the list and footy department to do it while we still have Max? According to our own metrics, we’ve wasted 24 & 25 with Max.
  21. Why is there not a thread on the bye? I am super looking forward to it.
  22. That winning streak was massively overrated on DL. It was fun but the opposition played a large part in our success in that they were horribly out of form or just plain [censored].
  23. I found Garry Lyon’s speech interesting at the Hall of Fame night. He mentioned Balmey as one of his favourite footy people and immediately proceeded to say that he wished he played for longer under Danners. A new voice is needed in my opinion. At the moment we could barely do worse and yet people defend Goodwin. Maybe Goodwin is the Balmey in this case and a new coach is Danners? With the way we’ve structured the list and TPP we clearly think we can compete. By that metric, the last 18 months have been an abject failure. With Goodwin still struggling to implement a winning game plan, who is to say next year will be any better?
  24. If the footy review at the end of the season is genuine, there is no way Goodwin can survive. Players love him sure… but he can’t instruct them how to play winning football. It’s a pretty [censored] simple equation.
  25. I went to a Premium Members function where Danners said that if Travis Johnstone had Longmuir’s application to training and preparation he would be the best player in the league. Danners was super [censored] off when Troy left.
