  1. For someone who went to 15 of our 22 games last season and 13 so far this season, yes, we bloody well do deserve it. Whilst, we've definitely improved since the gloomy days of 2008, we still need help and that's what the system is for. Getting lowly teams off the bottom of the ladder.
  2. Agreed. But in the end, I can't believe how well it's panned out for us.
  3. You did. I had a laugh myself. :D
  4. We could still beat the Roos too. I don't think we will, but on today's performance we could very well win it. Then there's Carlton, who aren't the most reliable side either.
  5. Agreed. That said, I think I saw enough of him last week to indicate he's worth a game next year.
  6. Thanks mate.
  7. And he supports the Dees.
  8. I wouldn't say that's one of his strengths, to be honest, but each to their own.
  9. LJ a strong possibility to miss. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...99/default.aspx
  10. I think he imposed himself, via his tackle count and general defensive pressure. Whilst, the body language comment is purely down to a lack of confidence.
  11. Hang on. So Robbo is allowed to reap the rewards, without working hard for it? The other players should chase for him? I thought that's how it worked. Oh and Robbo the heart and soul? I'm not sure I agree. That would have been Neita.
  12. I think there were signs earlier this season that he was beginning to find his feet. He was getting the ball a lot and in dangerous positions, but he just could not convert. If he gets it right, I still believe he could be a player.
  13. His movement and penetration by foot reminded me a lot of Paul Wheatley actually. His replacement, perhaps? As for the topic itself, we must get our hands on two elite/class mids and finish off our midfield stocks, before we look to our rucks. I think everything else will fall into place, if we have a good enough midfield. IMO, ruckmen aren't as important as some people think. If your centremen are clued up enough and read the play well enough, as long as you've got a big man competing against the opposition ruckman, you should win most clearances.
  14. Lots of petrol and absolutely freezing conditions. I still had fun though. :D
  15. I disagree. Jetta, like many of our young talent (including Bennell) has a small body, with an undeveloped frame. Jetta's tackles might occasionally slip, but that is only because he needs to build up his core strength. That will come with time.
  16. Well said. Bennell is going to be a beauty. His speed and balance have been noticeable since his very first match. Give him some time and he'll learn from his mistakes. We didn't need a thread on this. That said, I was at the game and missed this, it might have been up the other end? Could anyone tell me which quarter?
  17. I wholeheartedly agree, but Worsfold is list managing, just as Bailey is. There's no doubt we need them more, but IMO it's still highly hypercritical to claim Worsford has no credibility, when our coach is doing the same thing.
  18. Well, being twenty feet from many of his contests, I thought he work his arsed off. He probably had 5 or 6 tackles and in the last quarter when it looked like we were coming, he was the one holding the ball in our forwardline. I thought his defensive pressure was excellent. He still needs kicking lessons, but he worked a lot harder than many give him credit for, therefore 1 vote. That said, it would be difficult to come up with 7 or 8 players that played well on Sunday. We didn't have many.
  19. 6. Morton 5. Davey 4. MacKenzie 3. Bartram 2. Jurrah 1. Newton
  20. Agreed, Nasher. Well said. You could tell, even from his practice shots before the match, that he dreads kicking at goal. Mostly, because rightly or wrongly, the supporters get on his back if he does the slightest thing wrong.
  21. Bate will be damaging in a good to great side.
  22. His defensive pressure was great. Fix the kicking and he might still be a player. I watched him take a number of set shots in the pre-match warm up and he was taking them from about 30-35 out and hooking them quite a way. The ball drop seems to be the problem. That and lack of confidence.
  23. I would have thought that was a pretty good crowd for Manuka. The stand at the Sydney cheersquad end was a little empty and there weren't too many in the standing area on the wing, but everywhere else was pretty full.
  24. I watched a couple of times as Jurrah limped off to the bench. He may not have seemed injured amongst the play, but it seemed to hurt him. It took him a while to get back out there in the first place too. I wouldn't be surprised if they give him the week off, next week.
