  1. I agree, but our players weren't working hard enough to present options to our guys. They went into their shells.
  2. Years spent in the doldrums, I believe. It's understandable, but pragmatism has to come in somewhere.
  3. We've played some disciplined, team football during portions of this season. We did that once or twice last year (Adelaide last year being the prime example). We won our first 4 or 5 first quarters for the season across Rounds 4 to 5. You couldn't say that about last year. There's not necessarily a problem with examining our season to date, but it's how you measure this that is important.
  4. If we had players with better skill and they had the desire to win contested and uncontested possessions, the winning would take care of itself.
  5. I'd like Zac Smith, Charlie Dixon, Stephen Coniglio, Dylan Shiel and Adam Treloar. Thanks very much. Sincerely, Adam.
  6. Roos is teaching us to win the contested and uncontested possessions. These are two things that will never change.
  7. Some people seem to be talking about us as if we were a finals side last year. We won 4 games for the ENTIRE year. We've already won two. So after 7 rounds, we've already won half as many as the entirety of last season. We're clearly better this year, but people can't see the forest for the trees, because we've had three incredibly difficult tasks in a row. Further, if we get thumped by the Dogs and Port, but then win five in a row, where does that leave us? I don't think you can examine the season like that. Perhaps, at the end of the year, but not now.
  8. I'm over six foot six and he weighs more than me. Quite scary.
  9. For the record, I love having Paul Roos as coach.
  10. Couldn't mark a beach ball if he was on the beach by himself, unfortunately. Is it his shoulders? I really like Dawes. He works hard, is physical and he's not a horrible kick. His marking makes him quite deficient though. Watts isn't a strong mark either. Not sure that's such a great idea. Watts should be playing on a wing, IMO.
  11. Agreed. I'm certainly not saying Spencer is brilliant. I'm just saying he's an upgrade on Jamar and gets involved more than Gawn too. But two days ago we were one off season from having good depth. I'm not sure how you can then turn around and say the next day that our midfield is the worst in the league. And for the record, I agree with you. Carlton's would be the only other competitor. Richmond's isn't that crash hot either. Incredibly overrated. There's still some embarrassing stuff on here. But that's not for you to deal with, Nash. There have been some downright ridiculous comments in this thread, but hey, that's the internet.
  12. I agree with the others, but not Vickery. Not to mention, a bloody ordinary player and a bloody ordinary bloke.
  13. I think our culture is still carrying a bit of scar tissue that may be irreparable. We can be so fragile mentally. You only have to watch how we go into our shells and fail to attack. That is all apart of culture, IMO.
  14. It's interesting this though. Our disposal efficiency was the highest its been in weeks against Hawthorn. It was up in the mid 70s for most of the game. Another reason that stat is bloody hell useless.
  15. Really happy for Luke. He's a lovely bloke. I've still got his MFC player suit from when he used to play for the Dees. I hope his team has an off week this coming round though. I've long wanted an MFC coach to be unconventional and tactically progressive. Clarkson was brilliant at this when he first started coaching and Luke seems to have a similar eye for the unconventional. Another ex-Melbourne person doing well at another club. It's frustrating, isn't it? You only have to look at Hawthorn's coaching staff. It's an old MFC boys reunion. I think from Roos' perspective, given it was always going to be a three year deal and nothing else, is there any point in implementing any particularly new strategies if you're not going to be there to oversee them in four years time? I hope though, as 'Sir Paul Roos' says, Roos is simply laying the foundations that Goodwin can then run with once PR hands over the mantle.
  16. Lumumba was actually terrific at getting around his team mates in the last quarter. He did it at just about every contest. Made that extra effort to run up and really get in the ear of his team mates and encourage them. I thought it was terrific.
  17. 'We're cooked as a club'. 'All we're going to do is bring them down'. Because I say harden the [censored] up, I'm an apologist? I'm not apologising for anything and this woah is me crap is pathetic drivel, not to mention unintelligent hyperbole. Well, he had the second most tackles on the ground with 8 (clearly our best) and managed 4 clearances (our equal second most). I'm sorry, but he's miles better than Jamar and at this stage Gawn.
  18. Frawley did play on Pedersen. At least for some of the game.
  19. Oh, harden the [censored] up. I hope that's a facetious comment.
  20. He does show the way on the field to a degree. His chasing and effort can never be questioned. His ability can be though.
  21. I'm furstrated, but I hope the same dills that are having a go this week quieten down over the next few weeks when we win a couple.
  22. Spot on, mate. Teams may change, but endeavour should remain the same.
  23. Couple of his chases today were good, but he needs to do a hell of a lot more than he's doing. Wouldn't be surprised if he has a week off for 'calf soreness'.
