  1. There's no one taking the place of the older guys. Where are the next A graders going to come from at Geelong? I just don't see it. In Two years time, I think they'll find themselves in the bottom half of the league. They haven't been able to top up as well as Hawthorn have and personally, I think Scott's attitude appears to be pretty arrogant from the outside. He played five kids last week and they all got a pummelling in their first game. Where were the leaders getting 'round them? Where were the experienced players getting around Darcy when he appeared to be a deer in the headlights? Johnson managed to get himself reported. Doesn't look good. In two years time, they'll have an aging Clark, Taylor and Hawkins. A handy spine, but where are their other stars? They'll all have retired. They're in big trouble. I wonder how much this year will expose Chris Scott. He always did get a premiership handed to him on a plate.
  2. Good point, mate, but it's quite possible Roos simply sees him as one of his outside mids, who in time may bulk up. For the time being, he'd compliment our midfield quite nicely. He doesn't appear as tough to me as blokes like Viney or Newton, but his disposal is immaculate and he can be an accumulator. I wouldn't say no.
  3. I think JKH's omission will actually be good for him. He wasn't perfect against the Suns, but he also did a couple of great things. The way he drew the Suns player in the last to then give off to Newton who goaled was subtle, but very, very impressive. Not to mention his involvement in Tyson's end-to-end goal. This will make Jay realise he needs to work harder and get more of the ball if he's going to be a fixture in the MFC side. If JKH can get more of the ball he will be an incredibly damaging player. He's a great decision maker with ball in hand and his disposal is usually spot on. For the record, I'm very happy with the inclusions and glad to see Gus get another game.
  4. Well, we certainly need more leg speed off half back. Yarran? I dunno. If Roos and Goodwin believe they can get him playing two-way running football. What happens if the Prince goes down? We certainly need back up, not to mention HL is nearing the end of his career. The Gold Coast game showed the value of someone with genuine legspeed, taking the game on from half back.
  5. Would love Aish, but would prefer, as Chaser and rjay allude to, Shiel or Treloar.
  6. We need to be careful with going too tall. I agree. The last two or three times we've played GWS we've been embarrassed by their defensive runners. They run off our big guys. Frost is the perfect bloke to keep in. He's lightning quick, a great tackler and won't let the GWS blokes get out of their defensive 50 easily. Patfull plays a lot better than a third tall though. I would compare him to Gibson, who can more than hold his own against KPFs.
  7. Sad in that he loves the club, is a great clubman, but he's a horrid decision maker and a VFL level (at best) kick. If we keep on improving, he won't get back in the team.
  8. Besides the fact that Roos highlighted his pace and ability to apply tackling pressure to the opposition. Dropping Frost isn't going to happen.
  9. I don't think we lose Frost, because he has such versatility. Agree with Vince for Toumpas though. I'd be swapping Dawes for JKH. Doesn't do anything for balance, but JKH needs to work on a couple of those errors. He does have the propensity for terrific awareness, which he did illustrate a couple of times on Saturday, but he also did the wrong thing defensively a number of times.
  10. I love how we overhype our kids. That said, 9 tackles on debut is outstanding. I was happy enough with his game. He wasn't quite up with the pace of it, but it was just pleasing to see a high draft pick not look totally out of his depth in game one. However, some of his kicking and decision making was a little rushed, but once he gets the speed of the game, I think he'll be a beauty. Where would we even fit Petracca in this midfield?
  11. The most exciting thing for me are the blokes that will rise now that we have at least two guns in the midfield (Jones and Tyson). Tyson's break out year came last year. I think he'll be rated very highly externally this year. It'll be interesting to see if Jones or Tyson gets the tag. If one or two others can stand up, it will enable the entire midfield group to rise together and improve their output. Having said this about the midfield, Frost seems to be the most likely candidate on his NAB Cup showings thus far. Of course, these games often mean very little, but it won't harm his confidence to get some positive games under his belt at this time of year. I'm really hoping Viney can start to accumulate more possessions and tidy up his disposal. I think the McCartney influence will be evident on our midfield group as the season progresses too. He's the number #1 off season recruit for me.
  12. So could it be too much overloading that provoked this injury? Or is it simply a case of misfortune? Or both...
  13. Keep PJ. He knows the club now and he's bloody making it work. As long as he wants it for the next 5 years, I say give it to him.
  14. It's hard to believe there are still those out there that feel Sylvia has the talent to be a star of the comp, but just can't put it together mentally. He's just a bog average player.
  15. Very happy about this. Now I can let my guard down and totally invest in Jonesy, knowing he'll be here for the rest of his career. Good boy, Chunk. The new Robbie. Go Dees.
  16. I reckon let him focus on his footy. He's had a great first season, already one of my favourites, but let's see him back it up in his second year with us.
  17. PJ really is an A grade CEO. We overuse the term A grade, but I reckon it's appropriate here.
  18. Waaaaay too early to judge that. Hope you're right though.
  19. What a legend. Love him. Keep it going, PJ.
  20. Fair enough, mate. We shall see. Obviously though, I want to see a bloke who clearly loves the club succeed.
  21. Pushed. And if he loses his spot next year that might be it for him. I'm on record as saying he isn't good enough, so for me this strengthens our 22. I wouldn't have him in it. Thanks for the service though, Jack.
  22. He has a great opportunity to truly be heart and soul for the next few years if he signs this long term deal. It really should parallel Robbie Flower's career nicely. Hopefully he'll get his second final series very soon. Can't see it happening until he's 29 or 30 though.
