If we were getting Moore for Toumpas, I'd be keeping Toumpas. The perfect outcome is packaging Toumpas with a pick or another player for Bennell or Prestia or someone like Hartlett.

Unfortunately, we do need a big player. Surely we haven't forgotten the last two months of the season. I know there will be improvement next year, but if we want to get moving up the ladder, we need to land a big player or two. Prestia and Bennell will be a start.

Not sure Collingwood's drafting has been that good in the last two to three years. Maybe Taylor was the brains behind it all?

I never wanted them to win anything. My mum's side of the family are all Geelong. I always go with my MFC supporting sister and dad down the Geelong highway. I've always found their supporters incredibly smug and condescending. Particularly, down there.

The original was ahead of its time. Much like Twin Peaks. Both came out around the same time too. Its plot twists and narrative arc is amazing for a show that was only 9 episodes.

They won't win another flag with that list, IMO.

Once again, I've heard nothing from the player himself, just as is the case with Prestia. Roos could well have said we're not interested in order to work behind the scenes, quietly and efficiently. Would love Bennell.

He was last year. Depending on the amount of interest, we could get a mid/late first rounder for him. There's no doubt that the FD are pushing Howe out btw...

Offer him $800-850k over 5 then. Seems like both Scott brothers would prefer to pillage than to develop in house.

It's interesting. I'm comfortable with either outcoming involving or not involving us. a) Danger goes to Geelong and he props them up for four or so years (ala Judd at Carlton) and they become a fringe of the 8 club, but never really challenge and are left without a good, young nucleus. He fades in his last year or two and ends up being part of a team that just lacks that something that would push them to premiers again. Or b) Danger comes to Melbourne and helps our predominantly young, talented core push for the finals. His signing also makes us a more desirable location and coupled with finals footy on the horizon, he is a thorough success. We can't lose. How's that for some good old fashioned MFCSS?

I don't see why some posters have to comment on (mindless) positive speculation. Just let posters have their fun if they want it. That's the fun at this time of year (rather than the finals series, unfortunately). Go easy on the negativity for a while. It's tiresome.

Interesting that we haven't heard any whispers from Chook or GNF this year about Dangerfield...

What if giving that pick 6 away meant that we missed out on Prestia?

Howe and our second rounder to the Suns for Hartlett. Reckon they'd go for that, especially if their cap issues are as such that they won't be able to bring Dixon in without trading Hartlett.

Not sure about Hartlett's ceiling. I reckon his ceiling is comparable to Vince's ceiling. Vince is capable of A+ games, Hartlett could be. Either way, they're pretty even and I'd love to have both of them in our midfield. As another poster alluded to (sorry, I've forgotten), recruiting Hartlett would allow us to release Salem into the midfield occasionally, which is a big win, IMO. I keep banging on about us getting Prestia. Just imagine this midfield for a minute... Prestia, Jones, Vince, Hartlett, Viney, Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw. That is not a bad start. There is some serious talent in that list. It still lacks a bit of x-factor, which I'm hoping someone like Petracca can bring. Vanders, Garlett and Hogan as other occasional mids - yes, Hogan will play stints in the midfield, as we've already seen this year. In summary, get Hartlett and if we can keep our first rounder in doing so, we'll be really well positioned to further strengthen our midfield this year.

It could well mean Howe to GCS, Dixon to Port and Hartlett to Melbourne. Just have to convince Howe and Hartlett. That's what I'd wanna save pick 6 for. Dion Prestia. So if we could land Hartlett essentially for Howe that would be a huge win.

Reckon Hartlett could have a Vince-like impact if he came to Melbourne. I'd expect him to really stick it up them wherever he goes.

Our massive interest in Prestia is because he is a gun. We could snare Danger (not going to happen) as a FA and use our first pick on Prestia and then we're probably a finals side next year with those two fit and firing. Stop listening to player managers. I put them in the same boat as real estate agents. They'll lie all day to ensure they get the most money for themselves.
