  1. It's funny. Normally I'd say let's take two midfielders, we need all the help we can get, but given we've got two first rounders, if we believe the Weed is worth it, I'd be taking him now. I'd get a midfielder with the other pick though. We must take best available, not needs based. As many know, the very best KPP tend to come from the top 10 or even top 5.
  2. Cannot believe this arrogance/naivety is still around. We've won one first round game in years. I'm not saying we won't, but I wouldn't be that confident.
  3. Curnow and Francis seem like the big-bodied type mids that Roos seems enamored by.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if we do 3 and 7 for two players. I wouldn't rule out trading both these picks just yet.
  5. Who isn't lippy on the cricket field though?
  6. Yep, okay. I concede. I was wrong here. I wanted us to push Howe into the PSD to send a message, but the professional and smart thing to do is just get the trades done and move toward your objective. As it turned out, Howe changing his mind at the last minute didn't hinder us too much. Never had a crack at Mahoney though. He seems to be a really cool, efficient operator. Well done again, Josh. I also concede I went too early with the comment lampooning Roos for saying we'd be aggressive at the trade table. However, I still maintain the A+ grader comments set him up for failure though. In the end, I'm pretty happy with this trade period. We just have to get the top 10 picks right now. This could really make this list. Get these two right and suddenly we have a core of 8-10 players that could form a dynasty. Hogan, Salem, Petracca, Viney, Tyson, Brayshaw, Pick #3, Pick #7, Tommy Mac and Gawn. But I don't think anyone could over emphasise how important these two picks are this year.
  7. Knowing the way SOS drafts, they'll stuff up both their top 10 picks too. That'd be nice. Can't believe they rate him over there. It reeks of being an old boys club down there.
  8. I'd have Garland in the bigger forward group and Petracca in the medium forward group. Harmes is an interesting one. I'm looking forward to seeing how he comes on next year. He showed some good early signs. Some impressive hands down low earlier in the season and then his marking against an under-sized, ordinary GWS defence was exciting. My forwardline next year would read something like this: Harmes Pedersen Kent Garlett Hogan Petracca I'd play Kennedy in the midfield or on the wing and alternate between Pedersen and Dawes, depending on the form of both. I'd also swing Garland in there.
  9. I'd just like to see Kent prove himself first, before we all gush ourselves over him. He has some exciting tools, I just wish we'd stop dropping him into calculations like he's of Hogan's quality or Brayshaw's, both of whom have already shown a lot more in their one season than Kent has. RE: 10-12 wins, I would be disappointed if we didn't win at least an extra three games on this year's tally. That would show incremental, steady improvement. 12 wins would be terrific, but tougher, although things can click in a big way sometimes. Just ask the Bulldogs.
  10. Oy vey. This Kent talk again. I'd like him to play 22 games consistently from anywhere, but it's probably from the HFF. I think DemonOX's post is a legitimate one. I'm not convinced we've improved it enough. Sure, there'll be natural improvement and some surprises, but I think it'll be 10-12 wins for us next year. Had we been able to land an A grader and a B/B+ midfielder, I was buoyant we'd be able to crack the top 8. Of course, I'm not saying we could have necessarily done a whole lot better considering our brand in the AFL community (albeit its improved standing), the players we'd likely want to trade and the picks at our disposal, but I wouldn't be applauding this trade period as a success. It probably just scrapes through with a pass mark at the moment, but next year we'll obviously know more.
  11. And if anyone gets injured? And I'm sorry to say they will. We need more midfield depth. People have very short memories.
  12. I've said this a couple of times too. Agreed.
  13. So that's six, plus a first year player and a bloke who hasn't played for two years. Absolute best case scenario, we have a midfield that runs eight deep and that's best case. The top 8 teams run at least 10 deep. You could add pick 6 and you're still short. Melksham and Kennedy will be around there too, but we need more. I'm not saying we don't need a back up, but we have more pressing concerns, IMO.
  14. Cannot believe people are still banging on about a support for Jesse. We have Dawes and Pedersen for next year. For now we have much more pressing concerns. Our improved, but still weak and at times deplorable midfield.
  15. Don't agree entirely with this post, but the highlighted remark is why fans are rightfully a bit annoyed. Trading out Howe and Toumpas is hardly aggressive trading. Roos also banged on about getting an A+ grade player and that hasn't eventuated. I understand he was probably trying to attract an A grader with these comments, but he should have just kept his cards close to his chest and gone after these type of guys behind closed doors. We do this anyway. Instead, he set up supporter expectations in a way that were always probably unrealistic. I've heard we were close with Prestia, but apart from him, gee, it was a comment that was more than likely bound to set him up for failure and supporter angst.
  16. Anyone notice the branding on the GCS website in the "VIEW PLAYER PROFILES" section? http://www.goldcoastfc.com.au/ Malceski front and centre. No sign of Ablett, O'Meara or Prestia. I'd like to hope there's a reason for that.
  17. For me it depends who's asking and whose entitled little twit they'd be. If Treloar was being an entitled little twit (check) and nominated us instead of Collingwood, I would be quite happy to take an entitled little twit.
  18. 'Farewell'. Yeah, that's one way of saying it. Wouldn't be my chosen words. Glad he's finally gone though. Have been asking for it since 2013.
  19. I know it was Nudge, but I wouldn't be interested in Aish either. His contested ability doesn't fit the 'new' MFC mould anyway, so doubt this is on at all.
  20. "He has to perform consistently to be near as effective as Kent is on a flank, then Kent has to adapt to being in the midfield well enough not to just abandon it and put him back on the HFF." The inference I read from that was he thought Kent was consistent.
  21. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced he'd be an upgrade on either.
