  1. I'll say it again. Dean Kent. Not good enough.
  2. Looking forward to SOS bungling Carlton's list.
  3. I don't like the Yze comparison and I've knocked it before. I loved 'Ooz' in the early years, but I grew weary of his softness and picking and choosing which contests to hit. Salem is deceptively tough though. His only major weaknesses so far are his ability to get a lot of it and his inability to stay on the park. If he manages to get 30 touches, we'll win just about every time. His skills and decision-making are A grade.
  4. Are we? At times last year we really struggled for depth. The fact that Brayshaw played so many games says something. He was terrific, don't get me wrong, but in a side with more depth he plays 10-15 games. With Oliver, Petracca and the return of Trengove, we have a bit more depth, but I think Oliver will get an earlier call up than he would in a better side. I still think we can and should win 10-12 games this year though.
  5. Couple of things here. 1) most of the big blokes that have left their respective clubs have started negotiating with their club's-to-be a year out from being uncontracted. Two years in this day and actually is more akin to one year. 2) he was presented with targets the club had to reach under Roos and we hit them. There's also clear wins to loss ratio improvement. 3) yes, the salary cap is going up, but Hogan's manager would have known that months ago. He would be negligent not to. Yet, still, Hogan's management sat down and listened to deals at the end of last year. If their intention was to wait until the salary cap jump (that they knew was coming), why did they string us along with negotiations late last year? 4) you can't seriously think we didn't offer him the rightful amount of money. We offered him oodles. Even with salary jumps, we won't be able to offer him more than $10 mill over 10 years.
  6. He would have been offered something ridiculous by us, so given he has put off talks, that says he's gone. As if we wouldn't have offered him $10mill over 10 years or even more. Really disappointing. I'll find it very difficult watching him run around this season.
  7. Seems to play quite a bit like Viney. Has that similar thirst for the pill.
  8. It's funny. Normally I'd say let's take two midfielders, we need all the help we can get, but given we've got two first rounders, if we believe the Weed is worth it, I'd be taking him now. I'd get a midfielder with the other pick though. We must take best available, not needs based. As many know, the very best KPP tend to come from the top 10 or even top 5.
  9. I'll reserve judgement on this recruit, despite not being a fan. The FD deserve some credit. Roos has been here before and I trust McCartney.
  10. Given how out of touch with the game Matthews is, I wouldn't take any solace from his views aligning with mine.
  11. No idea, mate. Haha. Ask the FD. But I suspect either Vince will continue in the shut down role or it will be handed to someone else, potentially Melksham.
  12. I agree the comparisons between Vince and Melksham are off, but I can understand the notion that Melksham could be as important to us playing his role as Vince is playing his. Their outputs will be different, because positionally, I think there will be different expectations. Having said all that, I've made is plainly clear that I don't rate Melksham, however I'm prepared to back in the FD.
  13. I'll say it again. We must have received word from WADA or the AFL that stipulates he won't receive a ban. Or at least, that it won't occur during the season.
  14. I call BS on this. There's a GWS supporter?
  15. Haha, well, that was a pointless exercise. Except for the money I made, of course.
  16. I'm done. There was a reason I didn't want to post it here. If I PM everyone I may as well have posted it. Hopefully it'll be revealed soon anyway.

  18. Clean out your inbox and I'll tell you.
  19. I hear we should have an answer soon on Jesse's long term contract. Fingers crossed.
  20. That would be a horrible move if true.
  21. And your thoughts on Melksham, mate?
  22. Wow, Olympic level back-peddling, HH.
  23. Not sure Watts and Johnstone should be uttered in the same sentence as Melksham when it comes to disposal. Both elite disposers of the ball. Melksham is not. As for Vince having 3 a game, that's because he averages about 5-10 more disposals a game than Melksham and therefore more likely to make a mistake. If Melksham is in the door I'll back the FD, but I'm not expecting much. Every time I've ever watched him he's butchered the ball. I hope getting him in the red and blue changes things.
  24. They cost them nothing except places on their list, which will hurt them long term.
  25. Things can change pretty quickly. What if they looked to trade him? Still, I think you're probably right, mate. I doubt he's going anywhere.
