  1. I generally agree with this post, but I think the angst is well placed by some, who see Henderson being valued as a first rounder - ie a lot more than Howe is being valued.
  2. Well, Howe almost certainly cost us Prestia at the GCS. What a [censored].
  3. I expect a lot more from Kent than that. Setting the bar pretty low, IMO. Reckon the first game he has really influenced is the Richmond game and he injured himself in the second quarter. So for me, to say he's played consistent football is absolute rubbish. He has shown some attributes at AFL level, mainly toughness and occasionally an ability to thump the ball, but that is all at this stage. Hope he gets a full season to develop in 2016.
  4. Seriously? When did this happen? Kent has some attributes and I hope he comes on, but when has he ever played consistent football for a stretch? Gee, Kent is overrated on Demonland.
  5. Who was it those weeks ago that said Roos was walking around with a smile on his face? And was it a literal or figurative smile? And has anything changed? Is it a literal or figurative scowl now?
  6. We'll agree to disagree here, mate.
  7. One of the great modern footy media paradoxes (along with how someone could appoint Mark Robinson as their Chief Football Writer), is that a guy who completely ruined Richmond's list is known as 'The List Manager'. This is a guy who had absolutely no idea how to build a list and picked Tambling over Roughead and Franklin. I'd rather listen to a drunk duck discuss our list than Terry Wallace. At least, I'd get something out of it.
  8. I wasn't necessarily. And I've bagged Howe enough already. He's a limited player that inexplicably holds some trade value. I'd like him to help the club that gave him a chance to play the game at the highest level, but he doesn't seem the type. Oh, there I go again.
  9. If this is the case, where's our plan b or c? It's not really good enough for us to put all our eggs in one basket. Fortunately, I don't think we have and I'm confident we'll pull off something that will improve our list.
  10. Yeah, he's overrated for mine on current output to date. Agree with everything you say there, mate. Because that was 28 years ago? Lol.
  11. But see that's the problem with most Hawthorn supporters. They all come out of the woodwork during September and then have no idea the rest of the season.
  12. IMO Watts has about as much going for him as Howe, except for the fact that Howe would be an excellent promotional tool in a difficult northern market.
  13. I agree fervently with ProDee. Say it's GCS or the PSD. Make a stand here MFC, otherwise it's a worthless deal.
  14. I'll reserve judgement on this recruit, despite not being a fan. The FD deserve some credit. Roos has been here before and I trust McCartney.
  15. Judd was rubbish overhead. As long as whoever we pick up (I'm still not convinced we'll go to the draft with this pick) can win clearances, is strong in the contest and neat/damaging with their disposal, I'll be happy.
  16. Prestia? It'd set a strong precedent. I like it.
  17. Reckon the Howe deal is almost certainly holding up proceedings and so it should. That is the deal likely to net us the best gain. We can do the Melksham and Bugg deals later. They won't give up Elliot though.
  18. Completely agree. Howe goes to GCS and we have a chance at landing the big fish. Just because Mahoney says we haven't been able to land one at this point, does not rule out the possibility of it eventuating at a later date.
  19. So you think that Mahoney saying 'we're not able to land an 'A-grader' at this point' means we won't at all (aka 'Pretty much settles it')? I thought you were smarter than that, mate.
  20. What more is there to say? It doesn't settle it at all, IMO. All it means is that we've yet to sign someone at this stage.
  21. Just on the English comparison, that was a positional problem. They were all CMs. AFL is a very different beast. Leadership standards are really important, particularly at a club that has struggled with its culture for years. We need leaders who drive standards, but we also need leaders who stand up on the field and have an ability to influence the result. Trengove and Grimes seemingly drove standards off field (as much as they could), but couldn't get it done onfield.
  22. Given how out of touch with the game Matthews is, I wouldn't take any solace from his views aligning with mine.
  23. Lol. Brett Anderson just seems to guess the whole time. I get that most of them do this too, but at least some of them try to dress it up as a rumour.
