  1. I don't. I think he'll extend once the CBA is announced.
  2. Yeah, spot on, mate. This is the other side to the playing the PR game with building the foundations. It allowed us to stockpile some draft picks and build this midfield.
  3. Yep, fair enough. Well, Jack only makes our midfield deeper. So that's 10 that can play in the midfield if we land Prestia (I think we will). Guys like Kennedy, Kent and Harmes will also move through there. That's a lot of blokes who can play there, currently in our best 22. It reminds me very much of Roos' 2005 Sydney team. They had a lot of guys that could move through there and they've built the list to Roos' philosophy - players must be multi-positional in modern footy. Roos' term hasn't been flawless. I do wonder, like BB, whether we he could have flicked the offensive switch a bit earlier, but the list building appears to be first class.
  4. It's also a one year contract. It's not like we've signed Jake for three years...
  5. Do you really want to debate your thesis? Righto. So you implied that because CBDees hadn't played the game at the highest level, he/she couldn't comment or that his/her opinion was of less value as a result. I've debated this argument with you before, but you continue to sprout the same rubbish. It's a bullocks argument, mate. Demonland, half the footballing media and most discussions about football would not take place if this were the case. It would also mean your opinions amount to nothing too. As for posters denigrating an opinion instead of debating it, take a look at your own post to CBDees. You're a hypocrite, mate. I'm not usually drawn in to arguments like this, but I can't help but feed the troll in this instance. In order to actually add something to the discussion rather than mere digression, the one year signing of Spencer (whom I rate) is a smart move by the club. He's a good back up and may end up playing a role in the best 22, but more likely, he's a good insurance policy for Max.
  6. I just like typing this out. How's this for a midfield: Viney, Oliver, Petracca with support from Tyson, Brayshaw and even Salem. Not to mention older guys in Vince and Jones. And the addition of Prestia next year. That's a deep and talented midfield.
  7. Yeah, Jay Clark seems to have some love for Melbourne at the moment. Very odd.
  8. I'm only 28, but I've always found the love for RDB a little strange. I know he's back in Melbourne colours which is great, but he's a guy who left us at the peak of his powers and became the captain of the enemy.
  9. I think if Viney is a late out, ANB will come in.
  10. Reckon we'll be fine here, but it doesn't seem to be about our improvement anymore. We've clearly shown improvement, so it's simply down to Jesse now.
  11. Tyson head to head with Libba. Viney head to head with Wallis. These first two match ups will probably switch around a bit. Bugg and Jones in a defensive role with license to run off McCrae. Surely there's got to be questions over McCrae's attack on the footy. Outside he's silky, but in close, I reckon if we rough him up early there's a chance we sap his confidence. Vince to play his negating role on Bontempelli, but ensure his opponent has to work hard the other way - if Vince can hit the scoreboard and negate Bontempelli like he did at the G last year, I think we're a big show. The final match up worries me, but we do have options (Tommy Mac) if it goes pear-shaped, but I'd start Garland (given he's in the team) on Stringer.
  12. The intention certainly was to denigrate the argument, not the poster. But doesn’t sound like I'll convince you. Otherwise, I would have said "it's a numbskulls argument".
  13. Then it was a grammatical extrapolation.
  14. I'm a filmmaker, but have also coached for over 10 years now. It'll take a bit longer to recover after the last decade. Most kids run around in Hawthorn jumpers.
  15. I called the argument numbskull, not the poster.
  16. Just a numbskull 'argument' that I continue to see posted in various guises on Demonland. Or is this Saty doing some trolling again?
  17. Glad to see there's a bit of love for Spencer. I was beginning to think I was the only one. Smart re-signing.
  18. Didn't see the show, but he's a very confident kid. Love him.
  19. I think he's simply visiting his sick father. It really can be that simple. And I reckon it is.
  20. Why would we go after a bloke who will be 28 when 2017 starts? Not to mention, Brown is ho-hum. Day has lots of improvement in him, with much more time on his side.
  21. I think team success will. If you look at all the kids at schools, they are all running around with Hawthorn jumpers. When Buddy was still there they all had 23 on the back, but now they simply just wear Hawthorn jumpers. Ultimately though, I've never been more confident of winning a flag with a Melbourne team than I am with this list we're assembling and Hogan is a major player in that. Whilst I think we're still a shot at it without Hogan, I want to build a dynasty. I want to do what Hawthorn and Geelong have done. Sustained success. That's the key to a thriving membership base and becoming a powerhouse club again. We're far more likely to do that with Hogan, IMO. That said, the midfield we're building is seriously scary. It still lacks depth, but it's getting stronger and stronger every year and will continue to, as our younger generation gain further experience. We'll then have the ability to hopefully attract FAs and other trades. Get the midfield right, continue to bring in talent to compliment and reinforce the guys that are in there, and this team in 3 years time could be anything.
  22. Healy raves about Max. We're more likely to get Max and Viney in the team with Healy as a judge, IMO.
