  1. In the past, players seemed to fear kicking it to him in a contest because invariably he'd lose that one-on-one. It seems they're still not confident, but I feel today was more a case of poor decision making. They should have used him, but failed to get their head up.
  2. I reckon Max has earned one more match. More ordinary last week, ordinary this week, if he struggles again next week, I'd bring Spencer in. It might even be worth playing Spencer with Gawn. Rucks like having the position to themselves. It might make Max realise how important it is to remain consistent. The other caveat in all of this is the potentiality of Gawn's finger/hand bugging him. It might will be deemed that Spencer and Pedersen can go against Port next week.
  3. We're not pushing for finals. He has to get games at some point. He's winning most one-on-one contests. It's his decision making that needs to improve. He needs to work through this stuff at AFL level. Too much 'group think' around the thesis that Omac is "not ready". They will keep playing him, because he'll only improve with more game time, just as Oliver and Petracca will continue to improve with more game time.
  4. I thought it brought him into the game more. It won't work all the time, but it did today.
  5. It often comes down to experience in finals and just about every Kangaroo is 30 years old. GWS, not so much. I was thinking about this today though. They're certainly right in the mix, but very early days yet. Hawthorn will come back into the mix in the second half of the year and the inexperience at GWS may well come into play in the second part of the year.
  6. How special are Petracca and Oliver going to be? 20s for Petracca and 18.9 for Clarry. At this stage, Truck makes too many little errors and Clarry rarely makes any errors. They'll both end up being different types of players, but we have two absolute gems there.
  7. I'd like to see him do it when the pressure's on. Most of those goals have come as we ski down the mountain, but he's still young. At the moment, I see him as a fringer.
  8. I think he needs more AFL exposure, not more VFL time. There's such a difference between both levels that I want us getting games into him now. The FD seem to agree.
  9. Might be a strange comment, but I wonder if Patton would be worth a call for full back?
  10. Wow. I find it a little strange. He made a couple of errors, but he also made a couple of great spoils one-on-one.
  11. Watts, Jesse and Stretch all very impressive. Oliver's clearances early were important. Petracca is going to be a gun, but still a lot to learn. Garland was ordinary in the first half, but I'd venture as far as saying he had a very good second half. Despite some poor decisions and disposals, Omac's one-on-one work was good too.
  12. Yeah, I heard that, but the fact remains they didn't turn up.
  13. And Neale is averaging 33.3 disposals for the year, coming off an average of 27.5 last season.
  14. Luke Darcy just said he wonders whether Neale will want to come back to Victoria. Fair dinkum. That bloke has absolutely no idea. As thick as two planks too. I hate this Channel 7 commentary team. Richo is alright, but probably shouldn't do Richmond games and everyone else is pathetic.
  15. 20,000 at the Freo vs Richmond game. Wow.
  16. Neale's hands are as good as Oliver's.
  17. I reckon O'Meara will find himself at Carlton.
  18. Really liking the signs from our developing players. Our development program and recruiting appears to have been second to none since Roos' arrival.
  19. Yep, fair enough. I think if we can limit turn overs off half back and our midfield gets stronger, it puts less reliance on KPDs. That's where the game is going, IMO. Obviously, we will need to replace Tom if we traded him, but if you improve your midfield, your team improves and the flow on effect to attracting opposition KPDs is higher.
  20. At the moment, even though it's 20 points now, Port don't look like winning. Kennedy is just too dominant tonight.
  21. This West Coast win is relatively handy for us. If we can beat the Lions, it'll mean even if we lose to Port next week, we should still be ahead of them.
  22. Agreed. You probably don't trade away someone like McDonald without having a back up for him, but that's why I'll be fascinated to see how a bloke like Frost goes in the second half of the season. If he can nail down a spot back there and we can get a favourable deal with an A grade mid like Prestia, I'd do it.
  23. Robbie Gray might just get rubbed out for that. Beauty.
  24. Prestia, for example. I think we need role players down back like Hawthorn have built a dynasty on the back of and continue strengthening our midfield.
