  1. Since round 23 I've been very indifferent. It's tough to care. The North game I was vocal because I wanted to beat that mob so badly, but beyond that, the results thus far have just proven that it's not worth the emotional investment. I'm not going this week or next, I've already planned my Sunday morning and plan to casually go home and watch it. No way I'm planning an entire Sunday around it. But I've now come to the conclusion that I'm not going to a game again until it's firmly established that we're out of this 10-year funk. That will probably taken a clinched finals berth. Call me a bandwagoner or whatever. I've had way too many a weekend ruined by caring too much. I'm still reeling from that Collingwood match, and the team hasn't done anything yet to earn back my support and trust.
  2. It's still rubbish. More likely he was punished for keeping the injury secret but even that's a billy stretch.

  4. Yeah, but dropping a player for being arrogant and egotistical? I've no doubt Trac is a bit arrogant and maybe has a big ego, but to drop him for that is rubbish. It's more believable to suggest they kept him out as punishment for not being upfront about the bite. But even that's a billy stretch.

  6. Except that's not what happens. Good tackles and defense are rarely awarded. Holding the ball is often paid to break up play and congestion, and punishes players for simply grabbing the ball out of the air and getting immediately tackled.
  7. I don't really care what happens. I'm taking a break this weekend and not going. I may also skip the St Kilda game.
  8. He has. At this stage, there's more to suggest that the camp fiasco has affected the team and culture than there is to suggest it hasn't.
  9. I see what you're saying, but the same could be said of any team on any given week. Richmond were witches hats against Adelaide, too. I don't think you can underestimate Collingwood. IMO they stand to be one of 6 teams vying for the last 3 spots in the top 8, and they're currently the most likely to make it from that group. Happy to be proven wrong, but I think Collingwood will play finals this year and be among firmly in the top 6.
  10. In his defense, the entire team's influence has waned.
  11. Starting to feel of this team as I do looking back at the 2010-2011 team. Full of potential but in hindsight, just maybe not that good (yet). Anyway here is mine. B: SALEM, O.MCDONALD, JETTA HB: HIBBERD, LEVER, HUNT C : PETRACCA, OLIVER, JONES HF: KENT, HOGAN, MELKSHAM F: GARLETT, T MCDONALD, PEDERSEN FOLL: GAWN, TYSON, VINEY IC: BRAYSHAW, WEIDEMAN, FRITSCH, HANNAN Big omissions: Vince, Lewis, ANB
  12. They smashed Adelaide, took it right up to GWS, took care of Carlton, and were clinical against Essendon. They play a similar brand to Richmond, and predict it to be a 10-20 point difference either way. They still won by 50 points today. You would expect good teams to take care of "woeful" teams in a similar way. As it stands, we're 0-3 against top 8 contenders.
  13. I'm a Gold AFL Member. If you think premium Melbourne clubs get screwed, you should check out the "prestige" facilities the peasants in the southern stand put up with for a premium price. But eh, I get guaranteed access to watch the game I love.
  14. Evidently, it would have been embarrassing for those involved in the protest, too. Times change. The likes of PJ and Co are working hard to bring in revenue, because it's limited comparatively next to the big clubs. Small stuff like this makes a difference. They need to work extra hard because the on-field performance doesn't do enough to consistently generate revenue for the club. I think that considering we haven't played finals in 10 years and continuously struggle for sponsors, complaining about access to a fancy room before the game -- a room that has been sold off to sponsor for cash -- is pretty rich (excuse the pun). Premium Membership prices have risen due to increased demand. This is not uncommon in literally any part of the world. There is a waitlist for these memberships, and so if you wish to keep this special access, you need to pay for it.
  15. They're not arrogant. They're just not very bright. Even before they won the flag they were like that.
  16. I would like for him to no longer be in the leadership group, and to slot him into a forward pocket role if he is to stay at the club beyond 2018.
  17. I don't think he is the problem, but he's part of an ongoing divide between a younger generation, and the establish "boys club" that has been around since the good ol' days of 186. I've been calling for him to be traded dating back to 2012, and I get absolutely hounded every time I say it. If we miss finals this year, do not be surprised if he asks for a trade to a finals contender. IMO it would be the best thing for him and club. Allow the likes of Oliver, Viney, Trac, Hogan and TMac to really step into the leadership role and guide the club. Jones is a good player, far from great. He's not the problem, but I have been and always will be of the belief that as long as remnants of 186 remain at the club, we will continue to struggle and be pushed around. And yes, that includes the likes of Gawn. TMac and Viney are the extreme exceptions in this case. He was useful and a stalwart during the real down years. As we're growing up as a team, he reminds me of that tenured person in an office that is always complaining, always bullying younger, new people and calling them out for the most trivial of things. It stifles growth, and stops newcomers from filtering through and taking the reigns. A good leader empowers those around them to be their best. Jones should not be -- and isn't -- our best player. Evidently, he's also not our best captain. Blaming him for any issues we have on-field is a massive stretch. But I do believe he's filling a hole that we desperately need more natural, empowering leaders to fit into. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if Goodwin sees it the same way.
  18. No doubt that the fact most of our small forwards are so up and down on form, contributes to our scoring troubles. Garlett ANB Bugg Melksham Kent Harmes All have mostly had forgettable starts to the season. Garlett's pressure most notably is nonexistent and he should be dropped. Willing to give Harmes another run. I imagine both Harmes, Kent and ANB out next week for Fristch, Pederson and maybe JKH?
  19. 100%. No doubting the effort. The problem tonight however was structurally. Goodwin has had a terrible start to the year, really. It's going to be a huge lesson for him. Hopefully he benefits from it.
  20. I sweat to god this is the same issue we've had for 30 years. Ever since I've started supporting this club, we've had poor skills.
  21. I don't even care anymore. It's really not worth it.
