  1. Good point re. Goodwin. His confidence and trust in the team is comforting.
  2. We play finals for the first time in a decade and you want to put a coach's worth down to a single game?
  3. Just what we need. More shanks going forward.
  4. I want to believe you. The Hawks game broke me last year and to be honest, ever since that loss I have been very indifferent about this team and its potential. I went to the ANZAV Eve game for the spectacle, after that though I didn't attend or watch a match again until after we had won 3 in a row. And even then my interest had waned. The finals were fun. 2012-2017 absolutely burnt me out. Last week I saw as just a loss, "win some lose some", but losses like last night...they bring back this weird sensation where I actually stop caring. I used to care so much after losses like this when we weren't even close to finals. But now that we're in the running, I am completely indifferent. I doubt many are like me but if you wanted to know how some of us felf after that match...well, it essentially ruined football for me. Last night I laughed more than anything and shook my head, whereas two years ago I'd have been throwing my cigarettes at the screen. After they kicked 4 goals from 4 inside 50s in the third, I put on Monsters Inc for a giggle and fell asleep before the final siren. My point is that losses like the Hawthorn game, and last night. After everything we've been through as a fanbase, for some of us it's actually made us realise how much of a waste of energy football is. To be honest it's been a wake up call for me. I hope some of you can end up like me tbh. Feeling indifferent and not caring so much makes the losses much easier to deal with.
  5. God, we're so bad Stretch actually seems like a viable in. FMD. I highly doubt Goodwin has the balls to drop both Petracca and Jones. IMO Jones more likely to go, but that could backfire. Goodwin is now facing a challenge of Dean Bailey caliber. We are badly missing leadership, getting soundly beaten up by teams with leadership. We were a bouncy and energetic young team that got the best of grandpas in the finals but tonight was another wake up call. Dropping Jones may prompt a revolt. We just have too many players out of form to make any changes reasonably constructive. Does Stretch for Jones make us better? Who replaces Petracca? Is anyone coming in for Fritsch or ANB going to reasonably improve our scoring capacity? The only logical drop I can see is one of OMAC or Frost. Going in with both against Essendon's forward line is absolute suicide.
  6. He has good core strength but that's about it. May have made a solid backup PG in the NBL. Is about 3 inches short to have impact in the air, is too slow to have impact on the wing, and simply doesn't win enough 1 on 1s. Badly out of form and unfortunately have seen more of the bad than the good. I'd give him until the end of his current contract, and then reasses.
  7. Doesn't matter. An inside 50 is tracked as such because team structure is centred around maintaining pressure and possession in this field. It is statistically where a vast, VAST majority of all scoring takes place. We got the ball into the most heavily scored in area on the field, 25 more times than the opposition. And lost by 80 points. That is a major indictment on both the coaching and leadership, and quality of the list. We had this exact same discussion vs Hawthorn last year, against West Coast, last week, and today. Over the past 12 quarters, including last year's Prelim, we've had 4 goalless quarters. We have gone an entire match equivalent without scoring a goal. Think about that. And people had us touted for the flag? Right now, we are comfortably bottom 4 esque. I wasn't prepared to jump off after last week, but now I see the trend. I'm sorry if I doubted anyone last week.
  8. If only the conditions were nicer and the match was at the MCG...
  9. He's a perennial loser. He's done it his whole career. Check out the picture from last week. The whole team is walking off the ground after the match. One player has his head down. Guess who?
  10. We've kicked 27 points across the last 4 quarters. If you include the PF, we're looking at 4 full goalless quarters. In our past 3 matches, we've gone the equivalent of an entire match without a goal. And that's with 1 quarter left to play.
  11. Melbourne: 15 inside 50s. 0.4 Geelong: 3 insides 50s. 3.0
  12. 13 inside 50s. 0.3. Geelong: 3 inside 50s. 3 goals. Utterly pathetic.
  13. Petracca and ANB fumble more than a married man at a brothel.
  14. It's very hard to put a finger on it. We are uninspiring. Not terrible but closer to it than we are to looking "okay". It's like we're right near the corner to playing good football but are just as close to the corner of awful football. We're neither coming nor going at this point. We're stuck in neutral.
  15. You're doubling down. If that's the case there's no reason why any one team should be definitively better than the other in these conditions. Our entire gameplan is built around contested ball. We should thrive in the wet, not struggle.
  16. If only it was perfect 32-degree weather and the game was at the MCG...oh wait
  17. We managed to cut the contested possession differential from 35 to 25 in only 10 minutes. We got on top but didn't capitalise.
  18. Good end to the half. Got on top. Oliver amazing. KK, Frost, May, Brayshaw all solid. Viney in and out. Petracca just terrible. Gawn uninspiring and seemingly not 100%. Zero forward coherency. ANB useless. Weeds not ideal for the weather. Jones is absolutely cooked.
