As usual I agree with you 100% HT. Rivers is a very, very, very good defender and spiritual leader at our club, the fact he got this season under his belt puts him in good stead for next year. I'm looking forward to seeing Rivers back to his 2004 form next year, my favourite player at the MFC!

When was that announced?

My thoughts also, adding Ball to their midfield would allow Ball & McLean to get the hard ball out to Judd, Murphy and Gibbs and Maguire provides extra cover down back. While Fevola to the Saints gives them a very dangerous forward line and allows Koschitzke to ruck with Gardiner as King is on his last legs.

Just wondering who people would like to see coach the Scorpions next year since Peter German has unfortunatly jumped ship to the Western Bulldogs. I for one would love the see Scott West appointed full time coach of Casey next year, I've heard media reports that he has been looking for a larger role at Melbourne and several other clubs are looking closely at him. Melbourne could then appoint Matthew Whelan in Scott West's current role and he could still play a large role in helping the younger indigenous players that come into the club as well as gain valuable assistant coaching experience. Any thoughts?

Friend of mine from work who's pretty tight with Matthew Drain at St. Kilda reckons the Saints are putting a deal o Carlton today, Ball & Maguire for Fevola as St, Kilda doesn't believe Collingwood will be able to satisfy a trade for Ball.

1 more key forward - Look out for Butcher, Panos, Carlisle, Black or Griffiths in the draft. 1 more ruckman - Mumford would be a great fit through the PSD. Class midfielders - Scully, Trengove & Jetta will hopefully all find themselves at Melbourne next year to help us in this regard.

I'll get the ball rolling with some more potential trades Melbourne could look at: PJ to Hawthorn for pick 73 Bell to Port Adelaide for pick 72 Buckley & Pick 34 to Fremantle for pick 20 And for a speculative Fevola trade (not involving Melbourne): Fevola & Pick 43 to Sydney Jolly & Pick 38 to Collingwood Pick 14 & 30 to Carlton

Maybe straight swap with Fraser?
-
They still have Neagle, Daniher, Gumbleton & Laycock who they play forward, add ontop of that Hurley's ability to go forward and the fact that Hillie and Ryder will rotate throught he forward line I think they'd draft Cunnington or Stevens ahead of Butcher if available.
-
Fair enough for those concerns. 1. Yes I have heard West Coast maybe considering him at pick 7 which I would have thought would be a bit to high for him. I think the fact that's he's already mature aged may mean that some clubs may prefer the younger players ahead of him, ala Mitch Robinson last year who I thought could have gone top 10. 2. I think Jetta will be able to play midfield/forward, could be the ideal replacement for Davey when injured and or retires in 4 to 5 years time. In the mean time I'd imagine he'd be battling it out with Wonna, N. Jetta, Maric and Petterd for the 2 smaller forward roles in the team, think Petterd and Wonna have a hold on them for now.

If Carlton are so desperate for something else to come their way in this trade then Melbourne should throw in draft pick 50 seeing as we wont use it anyway, agree with you entirely Pantaloons.

How'd he go Mr. Morts?

With certain trades now having been discussed and draft order to alter along with some bolters and drifters from darft camp, here is my phantom draft for picks 1 - 30. 1. Melbourne: T. Scully 2. Melbourne: J. Trengove 3. Richmond: D. Martin 4. Fremantle: A. Morabito 5. North Melbourne: G. Rohan 6. Sydney: D. Talia 7. West Coast: K. Lucas 8. Port Adelaide: L. Tapscott 9. Port Adelaide: J. Craig (assuming Burgoyne deal with Hawthorn goes through) 10. Essendon: B. Cunnington 11. Melbourne: J. Butcher (once McLean deal goes through with Carlton) 12. Brisbane: A. Christensen 13. Adelaide: M. Panos 14. Carlton: K. Stevens (assuming 3 way deal occurs sending Fevola to Sydney, Jolly to Collingwood and Pick 14 to Carlton.) 15. Western Bulldogs: J. Gysberts 16. St. Kilda: N. Vardy 17. Geelong: J. Carlisle 18. Melbourne: L. Jetta 19. Richmond: D. Moore 20. Fremantle: A. Black 21. North Melbourne: J. Crichton 22. Sydney: J. Dare 23. Carlton: B. Griffiths (look out for a trade of Yarran to WC for Spangher & 23, rumor I heard today, soso source though.) 24. Geelong: S. Reid (another trade I heard involving a player & swap of picks with Port.) 25. North Melbourne: N. Winmar (Gibson trade.) 26. Essendon: D. Wanganeen 27. Carlton: B. Sheppard 28. Brisbane: T. Taylor 29. Adelaide: T. Colyer 30. Carlton: J. Melksham (agan part of the Fevola, Jolly, draft pick deal with Carlton, Collingwood & Sydney.)

I'd be happy for Melbourne to take Martin at pick no 2 only if from their interviews with Trengove & Morabito they're left with the impression that A: They may be likely to one day want to return home to play or B: They have no desire to play for the red & blue. If either of those two were the case then I'd say draft Martin at pick 2 in a second!

And the sad trade tracker came clean just before 6:00pm so he wouldn't cop the criticism about it not being true. Knew it couldn't be, can't have a team entirely full of teenagers.

Very good player I agree Knights but is he the type of player we need. With Wonna, Davey, Jetta, Maric, Petterd, Blease etc, do we need another goal kicking midfielder? While when it comes to drafting players I agree the club should draft the best available, but when it comes to trading we should only be trading for players who we need.

Agree 100% Melbourne aren't going to confirm a trade on their site that is dependant on another trade going through first.

Dawes for Pick 18 and Simon Buckley on the move
MadAsHell replied to demonglory's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd be interested in Dawes if the trade were Buckley and 34 for Dawes, 18 is to high for him. Not interested in Stanley or Cook. -
First off, I don't believe it until I see it. Secondly, no thankyou! Thirdly, I doubt it. Both Rivers and Jamar are required and Melbourne wouldn't trade them unless they requested to be traded.
-
Pick 34, no way would I give up pick 18 for Dawes. I think he has potential but he could still go down the same path as Newton IMO.
-
I'd be tempted if they offered Westhoff and pick 9 for Jamar and 18. Don't think it'll happen though. So I say keep Jamar.
-
Offer him 2 mil over 3 years. Surely both player and club could agree to that.
-
Reckon this guy is alright and could even be capable of being a future FF we need. Reckon we could try and trade Miller & pick 34 or Buckley & 34. What do people think?

Take McLean out for obvious reasons and maybe Bennell also to get both Scully and Trengove in there for round 1. FB: Frawley, Warnock, McDonald HB: Garland, Rivers, Green C: Morton, Moloney, Davey HF: Sylvia, Bate, Petterd FF: Watts, Jurrah, Wonna FOLL: Jamar, Bruce, Scully INT: Grimes, Jones, Martin, Trengove EMERG: Bennell, Blease, Miller
