And the country would be bankrupt with the government being sued continuously for defamation cases against aborigines. And rightfully so!

They'd take Grundy if he was available. Need a replacement for Jolly.

Curious as to what people think what deals we might get invovled in for the final week of trade period? Obviously we'll look to get the Pedersen deal done. Would love to get Ray and after today's Age article I haven't given up hope, Pedersen deal is sounding like it's going to be a 3 way deal with Roos and Port. Morton & North Melbourne's Pick 38 to Port Adelaide Ben Jacobs to North Melbourne Pedersen to Melbourne Martin & Pick 49 to St Kilda Ray & Pick 57 to Melbourne Would leave us in the draft with: Pick 4: Wines or O'Rourke Pick 27: Viney (FS) Pick 57: Andrew Boston, Paul Marschall or Mason Woods Pick 60: Jake Neade, Shannon Taylor or Will Hams Pick 70: Dan Nicholson (rookie upgrade) Edit: Updated 22/10/12

I get that sinking feeling also.
-
Pick 58 that we got off the filth is now pick 63.
-
Already lost Green (ret), Jurrah (quit), Lawrence (quit), Rivers (FA) & Moloney (FA) Still to come I'm thinking: Martin (trade), Bate (delist), Petterd (delist), Bennell (delist), Cook (delist)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
MadAsHell replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pick 63 should be enough to get the deal done I would have thought. I'd be willing to part with Pick 49 to get the deal done in exchange for Pedersen and Pick 58, but would resist all the way up till the last day of trade in the hope they'd blink first. -
Or O'Rourke
-
All the best for the future Riv. You've been my favourite player for the last 9 years and after 150 games and 10 years service I wish you no ill will. Hope you get premiership success at Geelong next year, but then from 2014 onwards when we really start our climb I hope you regret your decision.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
MadAsHell replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Personally I never thought we'd look to Dawes as a ruck option. Think we have a lot more capable ruck options on our list already. As for 2013, if we were to miss out on Pedersen and Martin stayed I still reckon he would have been struggling for a game in 2013. I reckon it would have been looking as: Melbourne 22: Jamar 1st ruck, Fitzpatrick 2nd ruck/forward pocket. Casey 18: Gawn 1st ruck, Martin 2nd ruck/forward pocket Casey Bench: Spencer Others capable of playing in the ruck: Micth Clark (Melb FF), Sellar (Casey CHB) -
Worth a look but would be behind Shannon Byrnes IMO.
-
Jonathan O'Rourke would have to be in the mix along with Grundy.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

These are the same people who said we were paying Micth nearly 1 mill a year which turned out to be false. No one from MFC has been quoted in any of the atricles about what he'll be paid. Don't believe everything you read. -
Falls into the category of other. That would be O'Rourke I reckon. Wouldn't be disapointed with O'Rourke at all. In fact, until I read that article where Viney & Wines spoke on eachother I was hoping for O'Rourke. The article just swayed me as I reckon having both Viney & Wines at the club will be great for our culture as these two will drive and push eachother to get the best out of themselves and their team mates. Also like the sound of Wines' leadership and the fact he hates loosing. Time will tell as to which way we go I guess. Edit: Stupid computer.
-
Personally I'm going with Wines, mainly because I expect that he'll still be available at that pick and he meets our needs of midfield depth. He and Viney will push eachother along and he'll add strength and a hard edge to the side. Will be interested to see what others think?

Jack Viney = Midfielder Pick 4 (Wines, O'Rourke or Toumpas) = Midfielder Dom Barry = Midfielder/forward Farren Ray = Midfielder/HBF Midfield isn't being forgotten. It's just easier to find midfielders then it is KPP. Edit: = -

Maybe to get Pick 39 back? With Dawes and Hogan coming in and Fitzpatrick to develop further the FD may have though we needed to move Martin on while the iron was hot and reckon we can still land a good mid inside the top 40 of the draft. -

Maybe once Carlton ruled themselves out this morning and it became a race of two Dawes didn't need the weekend? -

Thanks Nudge, always love hearing from you and Hell's Gate. This is a really good deal for all three clubs IMO. Question is now that we have Dawes and with Hogan to start in 2014 and Fitzpatrick developing nicely, are we still going to chase Gumbleton and Pedersen??? -
Port no longer looking to pick up Russell and Brisbane now entering the race to secure Dawes.
-
Certainly keen on Russell. I'd be keen to take a punt on Steven Salopek also as cost would be very minimal and he'd certainly fit a need with the ability to play as an inside and outside midfielder. With Byrnes already tucked away, fingers crossed we can land a KPF (Dawes, Gumby or Brown) and Farren Ray and we've suddenly obtained that experience we're looking for.
-
We'll likely get a late 2nd round pick for Rivers if he were to walk I reckon. Tell the Cats that if they sign Rivers we'll trade his compensation straight back to them in exchange for Brown maybe?
-
It's a difficult one. While I think we're a better shot of landing Dawes I think I'd prefer Gumby due to the potential upside and his marking ability compared to Dawes. While having both of them for next season would be nice, I don;t see the need long term with Hogan to debut in 2014 and Fitzpatrick coming along nicely since his chronic fatigue was properly diagnosed as diabities. So I voted Gumby. Other options if we were to luck out on both for me would be Mitch Brown (Gee), Jesse White (Syd), Khan Haretuku (Frankston), Mason Shaw (Sth Fremantle) or Cam Pedersen (N. Melb).
