  1. Only if neither of Matthew Haynes or Shannon Taylor are available.
  2. Would love either of Wilkins or Towers who were both mentioned in two of those drafts. However I don't expect them to last that long. Here's my picks 46-56 that I posted in my Mock Draft early, although I don't claim to be as much of an expert as the above. 46.West Coast Player: Brant Colledge Height: 192cm Weight: 87kg Club: Perth Description: Due to injuries Colledge has gone under the radar so far, but he is one of the KPFs that I would seriously be considering. In the final match of the Championships, I thought he was the most impressive of the WA talls. Colledge is a strong mark above his head, and while he wont ever be a 50+ a season goalkicker, he is good at bringing other players into the game. While he can play in the backline, I like him as a CHF leading up the ground. He plays a very high marking and disposal game in the WAFL Colts, and I think he could translate that across to the AFL. 47.Sydney Player: Emmanuel Irra Height: 179cm Weight: 80kg Club:South Adelaide Description: Irra is a Ugandan refugee who played as an outside mid for South Adelaide. Is a kid who has already made his league debut and for a kid who hasn't been playing all his life is a beautiful kick off both sides of his body. Once he gets the ball he has elite speed and is very difficult to catch. At times though he can really struggle to get involved in the game and therefore needs to improve his work rate if he wants to make it at the next level. 48. North Melbourne Player: Tim O'Brien Height: 194cm Weight: 81kg Club: Glenelg Description: Not a huge guy for someone who plays in the ruck a bit at under 18 level but he has an amazing leap on him. I'm excited to see what he can do with his vertical leap. Played predominantly as a KPF for SA whilst giving the occasional chop out to Grundy in the ruck. Had quite a successful championships kicking 6.0 in the opening game against Tasmania. Still a pretty raw prospect but plenty to work with. 49.Melbourne Player:Mason Wood Height: 190cm Weight:78kg Club: Geelong Falcons Description: Tall, skilful midfielder from the Geelong Falcons. Can push forward from the wing and kick goals. Has a really nice left-foot on him but like a lot of left-footers is very one-sided and can get him into a bit of trouble at times. 50.Western Bulldogs Player: Lachlan Hunter Height: 181cm Weight: 78kg Club: Western Jets Description: Lachlan Hunter, son of former 130-game Bulldog defender Mark was nominated by the Club before the father son deadline. Hunter is a left-footed midfielder/forward that represented Vic Metro at the AFL Under-18 national championships, and earned 2012 TAC Cup Team of the Year honours for his recent season with the Western Jets. 51.Western Bulldogs Player: Nathan Hrovat Height: 174cm Weight: 78kg Club: Northern Knights Description: Hrovat was probably the most productive player of the Champs. He just continually racked up big numbers. He is a very small midfielder who has a huge work rate. Very solid size for a little bloke so is able to win a lot of his own ball. His skills are elite and he is very much a dual-sided player, which is a credit to his hard work and discipline. He shows some real leadership in the way he's always the first to get over to encourage his teammates. He will be a guy who you can put straight into the team from round 1 next year and he will have an impact. 52.Essendon Player: Adam Saad Height: 177cm Weight: 73kg Club: Calder Cannons Description: Small defender/forward with excellent disposal and penetration on his prefered left foot. Reads the play very well, is agile and a fantastic overhaed mark. Sets up counter attacks from half back regularly and is averaging 16 disposals this season at TAC Cup level. In 2011 played for the World team in NAB AFL Under 16 Championships and won the Most Valuable Player award. 53.Melbourne Player:Leigh Osborne Height: 186cm Weight:84kg Club: Frankston Dolphins Description: Rebounding medium defender who can also play through the midfield. Possesses a very good burst of speed and is an excellent kick on his preferred left foot. Played with the Eastern Ranges at TAC Cup level before a stint with local club East Ringwood. In 2012 he crossed to Frankston in the VFL and has become a shining light in defence averaging 17.4 disposals. Loves to run and carry the ball, can be a dangerous player when delivering inside forward 50. Accumulated a season best 28 disposals against Williamstown in Round 12. 54. Adelaide Player: Daniel Williamson Height: 179cm Weight:? Club: Norwood Description: I don't know a lot on Williamson. From what I hear he's not a game changer, but not unlike a Toby Greene or Clay Smith either. 55.Essendon Player: Matthew McDonough Height: 180cm Weight: 85kg Club: Woodville West Torrens Description: Nuggety small forward in the Porplyzia mould. Very strong kid for someone of his height and proved to be a very difficult match up at the champs kicking two bags of 6 goals and 3 in the final game. Not convinced his type will be the most highly sought after but I think he can continue to be a difficult match up at AFL level. Would like to see him play more midfield as everyone knows he is a more than capable forward and some versatility wouldn't go astray. 56.Carlton Player: Jacob Ballard Height: 186cm Weight: 82kg Club: Northern Knights Description: I have to say that Ballard is underrated. I don't know why more people aren't talking about him. He is 186cm and a strong body, he'd be pushing selection in his debut season. He can run all day, and uses the ball quite well too - plays off of half back and through the middle. He was super impressive for Vic Metro, and one thing he showed was that he doesn't need a lot of game time to win the ball. He looks to be a perfect fit for the modern game, and I think he could go earlier then this.
  3. As the senior list's have been increased to 40 as of next season we still have 4 live selections in the coming drafts to use (Viney included). This allows us: Pick 4: Ollie Wines Pick 27: Jack Viney Pick 49: Mason Wood (outside mid/forward) Pick 53: Leigh Osborne (mature age quick HBF) Edit: Club website hasn't included Gillies on the player list yet. We will not have room to select a player in the PSD. Removed Sherman/Toy/Gram possable pick ups.
  4. That's impressive that he was drafted at the age of 8!
  5. Ben Jacobs' career at Port Adelaide finished Come on Dees, get on the phone and convince this guy to only nominate for the pre-season draft!
  6. I don't want to go all Nelson Mandella Sprinboks here but even if Melbourne did bail out Casey I'd actually be all for keeping the name Casey Scorpions. Just possibly altering the jumper to look more like ours. If we do just call ourselves the Casey Demons we run the risk of loosing some of the old Casey/Springvale Scorpions fans. We can choose the coach ourselves and run the team as a development team, but keeping the Scorpions name might help us hold onto the old supporter base and keep crowd numbers up. Even if we called the team the Melbourne Casey Scorpions may help with that?
  7. Reckon we might need to take over which is a shame depending on what way you look at it. Just top up our VFL playing list with locals and players from either Dandenong Stingrays or Gippsland Power who miss out on getting drafted.
  8. Would be happy with Stiller. Certainly the Ray type that we were after. Running half back flank who can also play off a wing. Spreads well and is a pretty good kick. Not sure if he's capable of playing a tagging role like Ray is but he'd certainly be a welcome inclusion in my book. Would certainly add competition for spots with the likes of Strauss, Nicholson, Bail etc..
  9. Fantastic piece! Should be sent into Media Watch with the concerns over Wilson's reporting.
  10. Fantastic piece! Should be sent into Media Watch with the concerns over Wilson's reporting.
  11. Murali was a chucker. They ended up changing the rules to allow him to play. Anyway that's a totally different argument. It's a witch hunt and Caro wants to be judge, jury and executioner, however that wont be the case. I'm confident that with the AFL not wanting us to take any heavy penalities handed down by them to court that some type of understanding/agreement as to the outcome of this will be reached during our right of reply.
  12. So in other words you have no idea.... Otherwise you could simply say I am lead to believe that,,,,,, Or I have it on good authority that from a source I can't name that...... Otherwise anyone can make an open ended statement like that. I know exactly what the situation with the Tippet contract is. But I wont say because it will come out in time. Note that last line was a joke.
  13. You're 100% correct jnrmac. If this tanking thing went to court, if there's no directive to loose then we can't be found guilty. ie: No penalty for MFC.
  14. It's amazing when at the same time Adelaide appear to have blatantly breached the rules, they aren't coping half the heat we are for something that's in a complete grey area. In other news Tim Harrington on the website today talked about using Pick 4 in the draft. No comment in relation to if we'll even have pick 4. Makes me think that the club have been assured we'll have our draft picks. At least for this draft anyway.
  15. I don't know BH, I think it's just that the Herald Sun and Australian are so far right, it can be difficult remembering where center is? Having said that though I did find it funny reading Michael Warner's article in the Herald Sun that said there may be enough evidence for us to have a case to answer, while Caro in The Age simply says we will face heavy sanctions. So we have one paperr saying we will be penalised without a right of reply and the other saying we still may not even have a case to answer...... It's these reasons like this as to why I'm still quietly confident that we'll be right. Seems nothing more then the agenda of some disgruntled ex players, coaches and people in the media with an axe to grind.
  16. Put a big smile on my face while trying to get my screaming 7 week old to bed.
  17. Agree, and the AFL know this. If the AFL were to take draft picks off us it would set us back even further then where we're already at and we'd eventually need priority picks off the AFL again (which is what's the cause of this whole saga in the first place!) . The AFL say they're committed to 18 clubs, but if we were stripped of our picks & Viney it would tear away the soul of the club and supporters would loose hope, which in turn would mean no one would turn up to watch us play. You'd think any penalty handed out would be of a financial nature and the sacking of certain individuals with the possability of a suspended sentence of draft sanctions maybe?
  18. In what can only be seen as a good sign on an interview with Mark Neeld on the club website yesterday he ,ade mention of Jack Viney being secured and having Pick 4 to use. So obviously he feels that whatever happens won't effect our picks. Don't even get me started on that [censored] Kennett's comments though!
  19. Very well put GTG. If this were to go to court the burden of proof would lie with the AFL and there's far to much of a grey area for them to proove anything. No doubt the legal advice Melbourne are receiving is worst case scenario and the AFL take your picks away, get an injunction to stop that from happening and take the matter to court where you'll be unlikely to be proven guilty.
  20. All still speculation at this point and if there isn;t anymore evidence then what's been mentioned in the media then there's still no smoking gun in my opinion from a legal perspective. Worst case scenario and there is a fine & loss of draft picks the club need to convince the AFL that the draft pick loss should be for 2013 given our 2nd round pick is dedicated to father son and Pick 4 is a compensation pick that we're entitled to under the AFL expansion rules, it's not our first round draft pick.
  21. Jason Gram will now be available also in the PSD. Could be worth at look if Jacobs falls through. He ticks a lot of the boxes. Was a Matthew Scarlett toe poke away from being a premiership player and norm smith medalist.
  22. If Hawksley is out and so is Sherman as I suspect he has to go through the draft, then I'd be looking at either Cheynee Stiller or Jeromey Webberly. If you haven't guessed I'm looking at running half back flank defenders who can run & carry. While I don't mind Surjan I'm not as sure on his kicking and ability to spread as much as Stiller's or Webberly's.
  23. I went with Hawksley. Good run and carry half back flanker who's a pretty good kick so ticks a few boxes for us. I woud have gone with Sherman but I don't think he can be signed as a delisted free agent as he's walked (although mutual) out of his contract. I think he has to go into the draft. But I could be wrong. Edit: Spelling
  24. Nothing to see here in my opinion. This article is nothing more then a page filling puff piece in the wake of the whole Tippett fiasco! The words 'believe' and 'possible' say it all if you ask me inthat it's extremely non commital and no one has been quoted and this story in no where else in any form of media. Any evidence would be simple hearsay in any judicial system unles someone high up from within the club at the time, eg Schwab, McLardy, Bauley or McDonald came out and said yes we went out to throw games. Which is highly unlikely to happen. Worst case scenario and we do face sanctions eg draft picks, I don;t reckon it would be till next year. Reasons being is we've already won the rights to Jack Viney as father son and our Pick 4 is compensation for loosing a player which we're entitled to, not a 1st round draft pick. Fingers crossed this all blows over, and worst case scenario, if there is something more, it doesn't come out until after the PSD and rookie draft. The fact that Vlad is in out corner puts the odds in our favour if you ask me.
