  1. The famous Herald Sun's guy latest is that there's been limited interest and he's likely to stay. Opposite of what I initially heard first thing and that Hawthorn were considering parting with 28.
  2. I would have thought a trade of Gysberts, Martin & Pick 49 for Pedersen, Ray & Pick 33 would be pretty good in our favour. We've also drafted players like Bennell around 30, Newton around 40. So that argument can go both ways....
  3. And Pick 33. The reason why I suggested to trade Pick 28 for Pedersen was so that we could hopefully get Pick 39 back to use for Ray and keep 33. Doubt they'd give us 39 if we only offered them 33. Then we'd have to use 28 on Ray and the earliest Pick that they could give us back in about 45 I think? Fair enough on the Morton trade.
  4. I guess it would come down to how highly Hawthorn rate Gys and whether or not they think there's better at Pick 28 I guess? You're right though, if they did make that trade then their first Pick would be 65! Mitchell and Sewell certainly are getting on though. They may see Gysberts as being a good fit to replace them as an inside mid who's already had three years of development and they'll just back themselves to improve him.
  5. AFL Trade Facebook page (I know) has suggested that Hawthorn has expressed interest and may be willing to part with Pick 28. If that is in fact true then that is a deal that I would entertain. Would allow us to throw Pick 49 into the Martin deal to get 33 across the line and then we've got 2 early 2nd round draft picks to get Pedersen & Ray along with some later picks back.
  6. We might have to throw in Pick 49 in order to get 33 I reckon.
  7. Speculation that Hawthorn are interested in Gysberts and may be willing to part ways with Pick 28 for him. Could allow us to do the following: Gysberts to Hawthorn Pick 28 to Melbourne Martin & Pick 49 to Brisbane Pick 33 to Melbourne Pick 28 to North Melbourne Pedersen & Pick 39 to Melbourne Pick 39 & Bennell to St Kilda Ray to Melbourne Morton to West Coast Pick 62 to Melbourne
  8. Coming down to the wire with only 48 hours left. What are we thinking it will take to get Pedersen & Ray over the line? Martin & Pick 63 to Lions Pick 33 to St Kilda Ray & Pick 47 to Melbourne Pick 47 to North Pedersen to Melbourne & if they don't like it they can shove it!
  9. You're right about Rodan not needing to go through PSD Nasher, thanks for the correction. I'm assuming PSD will only be for players who have walked from their clubs where deals have not been able to get done. For example Stevens, Tippet if that's what ends up happening with their negotiations. Not players who have been delisted?
  10. Stringer will go in the top 6. Bulldogs ar in love with him.
  11. Agree with that, I'd certainly rather take Rodan over Warren in the PSD. Then again if Koby Stevens is available in the PSD I say we go with him. I agree that he wouldn't be in our best 22. He'd be insurance for Byrnes I guess. His value could be the example he sets at Casey and on the training track. If we were to draft someone like a Will Hams or Shannon Taylor late in the draft he could also play a mentoring role for them I guess as future small forwards?
  12. Fingers crossed the stand off remains and we can snare Stevens with Pick 3 in the PSD. That would complete a very satisfying offseason so far!
  13. If having a David Rodan, Farren Ray or Cam Pedersen on the list keeps the likes of Jesse Hogan, Dom Barry and Josh Tynan for example out of the team for an extra year or so making them have to work harder to get themselves ahead in the pecking order of these other clubs rejects, well then they've served their purpose in my book. No more gifting young kids games, make them earn it, and the best way to do that is by at least having some solid senior bodies on the list which we don't currently have. I also can't see Mark Neeld playing anyone who is just there for the money and to have a little fun. Think they'd find themselves at Casey quick smart. Lets also not forget the leadership and example that I'm sure Neeld will be looking for these older players to set for our young guns on the training track and on the ground also to set the example for the future. It's not just about winning more games next year. It's about setting standards. Edit: Last paragraph.
  14. This bloke on the Herald Sun trading board is an idiot! About an hour ago says that Gysberts will find a new home as he''s out of favour. Has now just said that there's a good chance he'll stay! I wouldn't pay attention to anything that comes from there.
  15. Maybe Martin & Pick 63 for 33. Assuming that Pick 63 is one that Brisbane would use?
  16. Ross Lyon cleraly rated him. I've rated him since he's been at St Kilda. I never said I think he's a star who will deliver the MFC a flag. But I certainly think he's worth Pick 49 & Bennell and fills what our needs are at this stage. A good HBF/Midfielder who's capable of playing a run with role to good effect (drawn Grand Final on Dane Swan after half time) who is a reasonable kick who also provides run and carry and spreads well. He'd walk into our 22 without any issues.
  17. The Leigh Brown role Forward/2nd ruck. I expect Clark and Dawes to rotate between FF & CHF and Pedersen to play as the 3rd tall who rucks. I know Neeld talked at the Hogan presser about Clark being 2nd ruck. But I expect that to be smoke and mirrors. Pedersen wasn't on our list at that stage and him being on our list will change things. I mentioned in another thread I reckon the appeal the Saints would see in Bennell would be as a direct replacement for Cripps who's likely to walk into the draft. That utility type who can play forward or back or off a wing. They might think that in the right environment that they can get the best out of him? Also maybe they watched the Casey-v-North Ballarat VFL game at Casey Fields last year where Bennell played and Andrew McLeod type (only in the VFL mind you) game off half back and won Casey the game. Best game I've ever seen Jimmy play.
  18. Already a poll on this topic with other options: http://demonland.com...raft-at-pick-4/ For the record latest results are Wines 49% Toumpas 33% O'Rourke 7% Grundy 5% Other 5% Plowman 2% I say Wines myself, but if he were to be taken in the top 3 with Whitfield and Toumpas then I'd go with O'Rourke over Grundy.
  19. Yeah the two rumors doing the rounds for Pedersen to get to the Dees are. Gysberts to Essendon Pick 35 to North Melbourne Pedersen to Melbourne or Martin to Brisbane Pick 33 to North Melbourne Pedersen to Melbourne Personally I'm more keen on the Martin trade then the Gysberts one, but we'll see I guess. If we were to trade Gysberts for Pedersen I'd want something else to sweeten the deal. Even if it was only something like North's Pick 58 back as that would become our 3rd active pick assuming we trade Pick 49 as part of any Ray deal.
  20. I guess they'll sound out Misson for an update as to how Bennell's travelling with his recovery. Should be a solid relationship there I'd like to think. Bennell would be seen as a direct replacement for Cripps I guess who it looks like will walk into the draft. I would love it if this trade goes through. I rate Ray!
  21. Figured this post which I had on another board belonged here. Let's hope we get this across the line before the week is outEagles, Saints won't budge. This is the part of the article worth noting: "The Saints are likely to be involved in at least another trade before Friday's deadline, with Farren Ray likely to be traded to Melbourne. The Demons are also likely to secure North Melbourne's Cameron Pedersen. North was eager to obtain a better draft pick for Pedersen than Melbourne had offered - the pick 49 the Demons had received for Jared Rivers - as part of the exchange." Come on Dees, make it happen! Recycled players will equal: Byrnes, Dawes, Pedersen & Ray. Then just sign one of either Jordan Russell or Steven Salopek from November 1-13 and we've got the squad I was after from this trade/free agency period!
  22. Rumor (from facebook I know) that I'm hearing is a 4 way deal. Melbourne trade Stef Martin to Brisbane Brisbane trade Pick 33 to Port Adelaide North Melbourne also trade Matt Campbell to Port Adelaide Port Adelaide trade Ben Jacobs and a later pick to North Melbourne North Melbourne trade Cam Pedersen to Melbourne Looks reasonably good, question I guess is what late Pick would Port send to North Melbourne, pretty late I would have thought? This would also leave us Pick 49 to use in the Ray deal, not sure what it would take to get that one over the line?
  23. The wife's a St Kilda supporter so I've seena lot of Ray over the last few years. He's impressed me a fair bit since he moved from the Dogs and impressed me when he played seniors this year, I haven't been able to work out why he isn't in Scott Watters plans apart that he may simply be an unlucky victim of Watters trying to introduce some kids. He goes a lot harder then Cale and I've found his decision making very sound. He also has the ability to play a shut down role yet still find the footy at the same time. Something our current tagger, Jordie has trouble doing. Farren has some decent pace also (not lightning quick, but still reasobale turn of pace) so I think there's a lot he brings to the table that we sorely lack. I'm all for his signature as it will bring competition for spots in our 22 and he would become another player to join our list from a club with a recent winning culture.
  24. Jason Blake at St Kilda has been able to play the backup ruckman role, and for a few weeks this season even the number 1 ruck role at only 189cm! As long as he's physical enough and has a good enough leap then there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to. Don't forget, even Jeff White was only 195cm.
  25. I'm loving it. In The Age today also! http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/eagles-saints-wont-budge-20121021-27zhn.html This is the part of the article worth noting: "The Saints are likely to be involved in at least another trade before Friday's deadline, with Farren Ray likely to be traded to Melbourne.
