If Jimmy is having an operation later this week it would seem that whatever is wrong must only been recently discovered otherwise he would have stood down before this. I am hoping that his standing down is only an interim measure and that we can all look forward to his return in the near future. Good luck and God bless.

Can someone post a report on those that we here are interested in? -
What did Butcher say in public a month or so ago that turned us all off for a moment. I just have in mind that he seemed to be quite arrogant but maybe that is a good thing to have that self confidence.

Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...
Longsufferingnomore replied to the fork's topic in Melbourne Demons
A girlfriend(another Dees supporter) and I will be there. Hopefully I can ring in a few more Dewomen as opposed to Dem"ens"> I hope all you men who now know the sex of some of the forum chatters will still respect our female opinions. I was loathe to reveal my "femine status" as I didn't think that most of you men would think that we would have football knowledge let alone an opinion. I am sure I will be pleasantly surprised. -
Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...

I quite like the idea of the presentation in the middle of the ground prior to the game but I still believe that it should be the President only because no one knows Fork but everyone knows Jimmy. I know that Fork was the instigator and maybe he should be with the Pres/ when it all happens as our representative but for the sake of maximum exposure for the Club its Jimmy face the media want to see not Fork (although I am sure its a very handsome face - sorry Fork if you are reading this). We still have to wait and see what Susie wants to do. She may prefer one of the members of the football club to receive it on behalf of the Mt. Theo Org. -

Enforcer. I believe the Age through Martin Flanagan has been told of the story. Also I have contacted the Club this morning and hopefully Jimmy is now aware of what is going on. The suggestion by the Club was that that they would have the jumper framed and that it should be handed over to Mt Theo Org at a Presidents lunch venue. They will also arrange for a plaque to accompany the jumper. We are waiting on Fork to contact Susie so that they can decide on who is to come down to Melbourne. I have also contacted the Club again this afternoon and asked them to nominate a date for the handover. There is a suggestion that Fork should hand over the jumper but I still believe that Jimmy should do it to capture the maximum exposure for the Club. Obviously if Fork could come down that would be excellent as well as he was the instigator of all of this. As far as media attention in Alice Springs I think we could probably leave that to Fork as well. (He'll be needing another holiday before this is all over)With the footy show we cannot do anything until we have confirmed more details. Announcing it on the the show is probably better if it is done the week of the handover. So that is where it is at the moment. As soon as I know the details I am hoping to approach one of the airlines if necessary to maybe get a sponsored seat down for the Mt. Theo representative. I will also speak to the Club and see whether the AFL has a deal with the airlines to get a cheap seat. I have another option if necessary. -

I have paid mine ($50) I think, but I haven't received a DN receipt number like everyone else. How long do you have to wait before it is emailed. I am wondering if it has been received. Can anyone help? -
Lets win this one and go back to losing streak after. Win only for the young boys in the side to gain back some of the optimism, self-respect and self belief that they had three games ago!
-
I agree Jack. After Sat. game we will struggle to win another game. So don't worry about losing the draft picks. Even Fremantle away will beat us unless some of our players get some of the passion back that they showed earlier in the season. Play for each other and the club and US.

Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...
Longsufferingnomore replied to the fork's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great news. The Club are thrilled about was has happened. They feel that it would be better to actually present it to someone (Susie?) from the Mt. Theo organisation at a Melbourne game here in Melbourne at a Presidents lunch. They will get the jumper framed with a plaque. So I don't think this can all be organised by next Saturday and something else is happening at the Pres lunch the following game Port Adelaide so it may have to be the Richmond game. The Club are also able to get some footballs up to the Yuendumu Football Club. Questions are:1. because of the difficulty of getting someone to go up to the community do we all agree that it be presented to Mt Theo at the Presidents lunch. 2. What do we want on the plaque. I presume both Demonland and Demonology? 3. Can we get Jet Star /Qantas to donate a ticket for Susie to come down? Has anyone any thoughts. I will also let those on Demonology know what is going on. -

I have contacted the Club and am waiting for a call back (all in meetings - get Buckley (just joking)). I have given the site address for them to look at the thread and get the history and feel the emotion for themselves. Will keep you all posted as things happen. -
I have just got off the plane home after the one of the worst performances of our football team. I sat with Brisbane supporters around me laughing at how bad we were. We looked tired, uncommitted, slow with poor decision-making skills. I think being there and looking at the body language after each successive Brisbane goal I have now got to agree that finally the team now just expects to lose. That is how they look. I dont think they come out thinking that but they just seem to get beaten so easily now after initially showing us all how competitive they can be. What has happened over the last three weeks. Some of the most obvious points were: Rivers totally insipid and uninterested. At one time on the wing in front of us he let Bennell try and beat two Brisbane players whilst he stood there flat footed. How can a senior player let a first year player see that he is not going to get backed up. Absolutely no support there. Robbo if he is not finished now he definitely is at the end of the year. Again looked totally uninterested unless the ball was in the air. He certainly has lost his mojo. Paul Johnson - although he tried his hardest McLean and Moloney were next to useless. They were beaten to the ball on nearly every occasion. No wonder it was never down our end Jack Watts shows glimpses but certainly doesnt have the body capacity to match it. Liam Jurrah - would be better if Robbo was not there to spoil him. Brisbane guys were getting stuck into him and he gave it right back. It was good. Grimes - what can I say that has not already been said. Stefan Martin - was "good" took some timely marks. When I say good he didnt have much to compare in the team. Aaron is still getting cheap possessions yet when he gets it you feel that somethig will come out of it. Frawly/Warnock were stoic against those two ogres. Jones - again where is his peripheral vision - is it a matter of team mates not yelling at him or is it that he tries to do that one too much and gets caught. Cameron - looked good in the first ten mnutes and last quarter - but then most of them did. Green - solid but no back up around him My overall impression was that the team cannot match other teams in upper body strength. They are slow and thats not just their decsion making. There was little running with another player whether to run forward to take the ball or to block opposition. Whatever happened to good old fashioned shepherding. They seem to be content to let the opposition mark and then run back. Basic errors like waiting for the ball to come to them and so how many times did we see the ball stolen from in front of them. It wasn't a practice run, what did they think that Brisbane was just going to let them mark like they do to the opposiition players. Also why do they fall over when taking a mark when the Brisbane players remain upright and of course played on. Skill levels don't seem to be improving but again this may be an issue with self confidence. I don't think that there is going to be a quick fix. We need too many key position players and I don't believe Meesen and Spencer are going to improve to the level that we need them until 2011. I didnt go up to Brisbane expecting to win but I did expect a certain level of competitiveness. They looked like Narnargoon Norths had come to play. At least the weather was nice!

Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...
Longsufferingnomore replied to the fork's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fork. Had to get back on to see how we went and WOW we got it. How great is that. I will contact the Club on Monday and let them know how and why the auction was won by Mt. Theo and ourselves and see what we can organise with publicity for the handover. We need to have a point where cheques can be sent and who to make the cheques out to (presumably the Club) All the money goes to the Club. All those who pledged should forward their cheques etc as quickly as possible because I am sure there will be a cut off point however I am sure there maybe a little leeway for us to gather everything together. As I am going to the game I will try and get to someone to let them know what has happened because I am sure that Liam will be thrilled. Maybe RUdeboy could contact him and let him know just in case. Everybody should stand that little bit taller today - what a great effort by everyone especially FORK. -

Fork, can't get any further information for you. Good luck with everything. I am going up to Brisbane for the game. Let us know how you go. I am happy to be the go-between to the Club for you. This is a great iniative and at the moment it really has "Wheels" -

Fork by my calculations we have at least $938 so combining that with the Mt. Theo Prgram monies surely we should win it. The Mt. Theo program sounds like something that our great Pres. would take a special interest in as youth programs was and is where Jimmy passion lies (apart from the mighty Dees). I think if we leave it to you to bid (and win - no pressure!!) and then let us know what we need to do. Hopefully some of our more financially aware members may have come up with a brighter idea than I can come up with. I do know someone who is involved at the highest level at the Club and I will ask his advice. Will get back to you. -

Just looked up the auction and it is at $700. I have spoken with the Club and they think it is a fantastic idea and asked for someone to get back to them on Monday if we win the auction. They agreed that the Club should be involved if and when we are able to hand over the guernsey. Maybe Jimmy could fly up with Liam and do the handover and hopefully if we have any left over buy footballs and provide some Demon tops for them. Make it a demon community. The fork can handle Alice Springs media. There must be some other way we can gather up all the donations rather than depositing them into a personal account (no offence "fork"). Maybe a special bank account or one of our "lawyer" members could use their trust account. Does anyone have any other ideas. This is such a great idea lets not let it go off the boil. We can really make this happen. Sometimes mighty oaks from little acorns grow! -

Young Dees to take the reigns
Longsufferingnomore replied to Bruce Almighty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Green and Whelan and possibly Bruce to stay. Whelan is just a great imspiration for the younger guys down back. He is fearless in the Green mould and I believe that he is reliable leader when younger players need that influence. I am not saying that he would play a full year down there but until the younger players get some experience into them he should stay. When you see Green put his body on the line so soon after getting his head smashed in to me that is inspirational stuff for the young guys. What Green does is what they all should be doing - be fearless. Until Spencer and co show that they can match the big boys in the ruck we should keep PJ at least because against the odds he has done a great job over the last couple of weeks. I think Robbo and McDonald will go of their own volition. Robbo looked uninterested which is probably how Robbo looks most of the time but there doesn't seem to be the same punch that there has been in the past. -
I think the club would prefer we support their two venues Bentleigh and Oakleigh. At Oakleigh the atmosphere is good even though probably only a small crowd go and the savouries (free) at half time go down well with everyone. If anyone wants to go to watch andbe with like go to Oakleigh and support the Club.

Did anyone hear Dermie on SEn last night he implied or more or less said that Melbourne were using Watts as a marketing tool because he wasn't ready for AFL. I can't remember if it was before or after his second goal. May have been at half time. I thought Watt's game was much better this time and playing with the big boys is teaching him far more than continuously playing with the VFL. I thought his pass from midfield was great and showed he has football smarts. His handball over his head was equally good. I am very happy the way the club is managing him especially Bailey and if they do only intend to play him for another three games I am equally happy for him to do that because it will give him a chance to return to VFL, put into practice his AFL experiences and also provide him with an understanding of what is required to make the AFL. You can be a star in VFL but not worth a mention in AFL ie Nick Sautner

I like the sound of him having excellent core strength and that he holds his feet. These are the characteristics that impressses me about Geelong and how they maintain their feet when tackled.

Are there any whispers about Liam playing because if he is playing I am a definite even though I hate Etihad and I hate Essendon supporters (nearly as bad as Richmond). Steamindemon might know something anyone.....................................
