  1. With such a scathing attack (and I am presuming you are targeting the administration) what are the areas where we have fallen down in a matter of months. Is it marketing, memberships or sponsorships? You forget that all targets/budgets would have been based on 2018's performance. Would you or the AFL have seen the car crash coming. Absolutely not and if we had have achieved another finals shot everybody would have been congratulating the Admin. for doing a great job. What did the Admin. do or not do that has you claiming that we "have reverted to our usual style". I can see no reason to blame our current woes on the Administration of the Club. Their membership target should have been achievable if there had been early wins. New sponsors were signed up and old sponsors resigned. New staff were employed to reflect the Club's ambitions for 2019. What more could they have done? Where is the incompetence? I do believe that there will be significant changes made in the Football Department. However I will look at these changes as necessary after our mind numbing performance and not as ruptured relations within the FD. Everyone will be held accountable and maybe there will be a few heads roll and some resignations but we need fresh eyes and new voices to come in. I had a discussion with other supporters about the fact that at any time during the season did the first 22 play together. We tend to forget that not only did we have the worst list of injuries of all the Clubs but there was never a time that the team really had a chance to play together without playing out of position to fill a hole of another injured player. My other observation is that we have to be able to call on better players outside the 22. Collingwood/GWS has been able to do it and we need to have that capacity as well. With all player operations out of the way, we should be able to bounce back having full preseasons. Could we do a Brisbane in 2020. With a little help from the AFL (as they received) there is no reason why not. (I am though doubtful that the AFL has the same view of a successful Brisbane as they would of a successful MFC.) I don't think we are broken but at this time the Club will be aware that the more successful Clubs and some journalists will see us being vulnerable and hope to exploit the position we have found ourselves.
  2. Did we go into the meeting requesting financial assistance with a move to our own facilities, This could have been why db reported that the meeting did not go well. Surely the Club would have already had an indirect indication from the AFL as to what they were thinking about No 2 Draft pick. I would not think there would have been any shock if they were told that the Suns were being handed our pick, disappointment yes. After all AFL's priority would be getting the Suns up and running and not whether the MFC is able to retain members.
  3. Was told a couple of games back that Frosty loves being at the Club but felt that his game had improved and that it should be reflected in his contract offer. I like so many others love his enthusiasm but my heart still stops when he gets the ball waiting momentarily to see what he will bring. Thankfully there have been fewer of the car crashes this year. Glad that it looks like a compromise has been reached or the Club has recognised his improvement this year.
  4. I think the team did just that last week. Despite adversity they "took them on". When I watch him run on the ground on Sunday I'll be thinking about Oscar and his Mum being with him and his Dad telling him to take them on. How much emotion must he have played with last week. So sad but also so heartening.
  5. That is reading way too much into something that was fairly innocuous. Garlett is a quiet person by nature and I am sure that Saty would confirm that he is much loved by all his team mates and coaching staff. Because he is not as gregarious as Harmsey or Petracca doesn't mean that he has a bad relationship with the coach, if that is what you are inferring.
  6. I think my topic got "off topic" but it has been brilliant reading all the good memories that some of us still have. The weather is going to be ok tomorrow so hopefully we can get some stragglers down to Gosch's tomorrow. The players will be thrilled with any support that might turn up. It must be getting boring with just old Saty hanging over the fence.(Sorry Saty not so much of the old.)
  7. Thanks 19. I'll be there with Demon Dog and hopefully a few more like yourself.
  8. As a diehard supporter devastated and despondent as to the position we find ourselves, I also don't want to be part of the negativity that other Club supporters, the Media and some of our own supporters are relishing. We are generally all passionate supporters on this site and and the extreme disappointment we all feel is exacerbated by the fact that there are no clear answers to our problems. However, why can't we all put that aside and actually support the boys when they really do need our support. I know that the players will be really feeling the anger and frustration of their supporters and despite their outgoing positive comments they will be hurting. I really believe we have the team to turn it around. Friday 3rd May, there is a light training run from 9.30 to 10.30 at Gosch's paddock. I really hope that we can get as many "supporters" there to show the players that we do support them and believe that they can turn it around. I know that we have the team to do exactly that but we will have to get through whatever is happening at the moment. I'm not making excuses for them. I just want to show them that we haven't given up on them. There will not be any BBQ's or marketing tents just plain old fashioned spontaneous support for our players. Let's bring back a sense of unity amongst members and supporters. Bring your dogs, children, neighbours and anyone that loves the MFC.
  9. Nick's comments that Hogan looked so unhappy over the last two years. Really, I couldn't guess why. Then to say now that he is at home he is far more settled. Such lightweight comments.
  10. This diet does work. I know two people who are on it and are consistently losing weight.
  11. Saw him in the Supermarket yesterday. Wearing sneakers without any hint of a big toe problem.
  12. Last year you could still "renew" a MCC/MFC membership through the MFC however CC details are forwarded to the MCC for them to complete the transaction, After a couple of weeks the MCC send over an updated MCC/MFC List. It is a convoluted process and the pitmeister is correct the MCC changed the process two years ago along with ending a payment plan for those memberships.
  13. I think it's 17th December, 6.30 Dining Room as usual. It will be hard not to compare him to PJ.
  14. Thanks to everyone. Always interesting reading and great to get a mention tonight by big Maxy.
  15. Was in the car listening. Had to wait a few moments to gather myself before hopping out. Absolutely mesmerising but what else would you expect from the great Martin Flanagan.
  16. Can anyone confirm that you can still purchase tickets from ticketek.
  17. I got this last week with 4 credit cards. Rang the banks no blocks on my cards. Spoke to someone at Ticketek and they now claim my card must be scammed and so they are investigating. What are they investigating? Just own up to it being an almighty ba...s up. MCC have had a number of complaints regarding the same issue. This week didnt bother. Will line up early like last week.
  18. DV8 I'm not sure if you know that the Club have been having open training sessions like this for many years with BBQ, Coffee and Demon Shop always operating. They are usually at the end of the year and before the season starts and then the game against Collingwood. The Club does not make any money from the BBQ's - all funds go back to the Demon Army to support them in their endeavours. I thought today was especially well organised by the Club having some of the Membership staff there to answer any queries for the coming finals and also 2019 memberships. The Club was hoping that there would be around 1200 at the training session given the weather but there near were to 2000 and one of the best things to see was that there a huge number of children there in the red and blue. Our future. So I do take issue with you that "the Club continually leaves the supporters out of their thoughts". Of course there is always the issue of the value of our supporter base and if the Club did not have that as a focus you would I am sure be crying that the Administration were inept. The cost of the day is part and parcel of what is "pay back" for the magnificent and longsuffering support that the Club has had over many years. Today was a huge success so now all we have to do is put it on the park (MCG)
