  1. Didn't Simon O'Donnell have the same disease some years ago. I would think that there are a number of sportsmen who the Club could organise for Jessie to talk with. I agree with the other comments that he is in the best place to recuperate. The Club has done a mighty job supporting Jesse through his father's illness and now to be confronted with this. Kudos to the Club being able to control the noise from the outer regarding Jessie's father and now for getting on the front foot (with approval from Jessie and his mother) to control the frenzy that could have resulted if there had been a leak regarding his latest battle. Mahoney was right when he said that he is 22 years of age an he has had to become mature way beyond his years. I am heartened by the Club Doctor's prognosis and look forward to Jessie's return to playing.
  2. This addition comes with a Standard Plus and Premium MFC/MCC memberships. It is great value. Ring one of the membership team and upgrade. Well worth it if you are taking mates to the games.
  3. Just back from the Barcelona V Juventus game and I don't think we have anything on the security here. How would we react if we had policemen ready with riot gear protecting the players race. Just a few comparisons to some of our games this year: Barca and Juventus players must have gone to the Cripps acting school Barca and Juventus have been watching replays of our Geelong game for goal kicking tips (score 0-0 after numerous attempts I was warned to stay clear of the Juventus supporters if they lost. I would have known who they were -they were in black and white. Highlight of the night was 85,000 Barca supporters singing " Su la mafia" to the 10,000 Juventus supporters. I did miss Robbos Haymes paints speckies at half time. Absolutely nothing at half time but some very good music.
  4. There is a Melbourne (called Away) supporters area on the wing Level 1 Aisle 6 which had a few seats left this morning.
  5. I think there was a comment made by the learned commentators that the Umpires were aware of the "special" way the doggies handball however it didn't seem to make any difference to their rulings on Saturday. The Doggies wont have it all their way this year as all the Clubs will be following their lead. We showed on Saturday by continual pressure their handball system will fail. This was one of the most glaring improvements and not just by a few but all of them were continually giving second and third efforts. I hope that our leadership group take it upon themselves in the final 5 minutes of each quarter to instil "no fade outs".
  6. Great person from a great family.
  7. Just a quick thank you for all those Demonlanders who partook of a sausage yesterday and those of you who donated generously. We raised the biggest amount to date for the Demon Army. This will go to covering some of the expense of new equipment for season 2017. Sorry but the brioche was off the menu.
  8. For a moment I thought you were going to say moved into bed with you - that is carrying the flag a little too far. Keep things positive and the talk about the future of the Club not the recent past. Anyway if anything untowards happens again keep the thought that you at least wont have to have Andy giving you mouth to mouth!
  9. A question came from the audience with regard to the Away Jumper and basically we are restricted to what we can have by the AFL. Incredulously there are seven or eight Clubs that the TV Media say we clash with - St. Kilda, Richmond, Adelaide, Carlton and have forgotten the others. The Club has put several options forward. PJ said the Club hate the away jumper and he knows that the supporters hate it as well. Also he was upfront in saying that although the supporters get cranky with the AFL they did listen to the Club's proposal that we do not play anymore home games at Etihad. Great to think of what the relationship with Casey has now become. Put the right people in place and good things happen. Simon Goodwin is not a "come with me on a journey" type of speaker like Paul Roos but certainly very down to earth and obviously passionate about his job. He spoke one on one to Hannan, Johnstone, Hibberd and Lewis. Jordan Lewis got one or two rousing ovations - a very clear favourite"son" now that he has chosen the destination Club. Simon asked about his decision to come to Melbourne and it certainly was his relationship with Todd Viney that clearly was the determining factor. He said he knew other people from other Clubs but he wanted to go to a Club at this stage of his career where he could make a difference and that it was a Club that was "going places" He spoke very well with Simon saying the first time he spoke to the other players he really made an impression. A good night, succinct, not over the top but definitely there is a certain finals feeling in the air. Be excited. CBD Get well - I thought you might be there in your hospital nightie!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the repeat but just read other posts.
  10. Sorry no brioche, tofu or vege sausages but delicately flavoured and cooked snags and white bread. Club might go the whole way and offer brown bread as an alternative to white. No expense spared.
  11. If you are a member and haven't received your email yet or just a supporter, the Club is having their annual end of year open training session at Gosch's Oval on Friday 16 December from 9.30 to 11.30. There will be the usual BBQ, Santa and Checker to entertain you all. If you haven't already purchased your membership the Membership and Demon Shop tents will be operating. All monies raised at the BBQ will go to Demon Army to assist them with purchasing new "heads" and other items for 2017.
  12. That would be a corner office with huge windows overlooking the peasants scurrying around on the pavements below. Isn't that from where all legal eagles ply their trade.
  13. I don't think there is a nicer, more genuine and more giving person than Jack. His passion for the Club and his role was obvious to anyone who met him. I admired him for the way he played his role at Casey. He showed maturity beyond his years and as LH has said "integrity plus" If he does get picked up by another Club he will play with as much heart as he did whilst at Melbourne. However if he doesn't get to another Club, I am sure that he will succeed in anything that he takes on. I hope that there will be some role for him at the Club at a later time.
  14. Dazzle, I think we are arguing over semantics. He injured his wrist against Richmond and was given very limited time in the Dev. league because of his injury. None of this matters as like you unfortunately I too believe that Max maybe looking elsewhere in 2017. If however the Club do decide to keep him on, they obviously see something in him and I would trust them as they are far more experienced than you and I.
  15. You do know that he has had a broken/chipped bone in the wrist and is tryng desperately to get back into the Seniors to play finals despite being on limited time in the Dev. team. None of this may have any bearing if he is rerookied next year but he wasn't dropped as you stated.
  16. Try the Club 1300 336 667. They may have some left.
  17. Everyone who can should try and go this year as the room will go off if Maxy wins the Bluey. His speech will be "noteworthy".
  18. Hawthorn are very good to taking everything to the limit. They constantly impede opposition players in a marking contest. On kick outs they go so close to the marking square. When opposition players on standing on the mark a Hawthorn player is always next to the opposition player who will then block to not allow the opposition player from challenging the kicker. I know all perfectly legal but just really on edge and generally just like their aggression - always on verge of thuggery but OK in terms of the laws of the game. We need to learn a few lessons if we are to become a force of the future.
  19. There is a reason why in the NRL a spear tackle is illegal and reportable. Lets wait and see what action is taken against Cyril. I am not holding my breath waiting.
