  1. Its a Melb home game. Dogs fans don't get free entry. That will deter a lot of their fans. Footy is expensive these days. Family of 4 $130 plus food etc and transport.
  2. Very exciting times for them. Agree with your views. You can't have enough elite users of the ball and although some here have decried Laurie's ball use he was selected primarily on the basis of his kicking skills. I wish them both well.
  3. We don't seem to do that We always seem to telegraph our selections to our opponents.
  4. They run the infra red/grow lights all night as well.
  5. Exactly. Thats how our coaching staff operate. The Dogs going in with too many talls in their fwd line would be a mistake. Easy to counter when the ball hits the ground. The weather will be factor. Last night on Ch 7 they were saying it is predicted to be 35 degree with a late stormy change. This morning I notice the BoM says it will be 29deg with a 5% chance of rain [But 1cm higher sea levels in 100 years!]
  6. Better than Langdon. He's spoken twice and managed to bag Ross Lyon and Collingwood - all Duck no Dinner. I think he has been permanently banned from media duties :)
  7. Spargo spoke very well. I think in large part our players are humble and respectful as well as reasonably articulate (Clarry aside!)
  8. Dislike Derwayne intensely but this one I get. Often you will join a telecast midway and not be updated on what has gone on before. I think they should do a recap more often
  9. I think that part is innate, very difficult to develop it
  10. If we are being honest he is like Weid but with a bit more versatility and adaptability. Can play fwd or back He can actually take a one grab mark which was Weid's downfall IMO so all in all its a slight upgrade
  11. Teams changed the way they played against us and we did not respond. As well we were cooked from being hyped up too early 'Kick long to Lever or may and you lose against Melbourne' is the mantra for most opposition teams. We need to be able to respond better to chaos balls or balls that are run into the fwd line with handballs and/or short kicks a la Sydney or Collingwood.
  12. I believe this is done at the AFL Captains Day photo The Captains likely ask other Captains 'who is the smokey at your club that could win the Rising Star' Max would have said McVee
  13. Will be interesting to see the pressure Jackson comes under this year. Personally I fell he has put himself right under the pump in a two team town that lives and breathes football. Kozzie might just well see that and say 'no thanks I don't need that pressure. Perhaps I'll win 3 or 4 more flags at the Dees and then head back for bigger coin in a few years time" Let's hope Jackson cops a ridiculous amount of pressure.
  14. Gawn and Grundy kicked 6 goals to Nankervis and Soldo 0 Post clearance is more important
  15. Just watched Fox footy where King and Montagna both picked the Dees for the flag. Said the Dees were 18th for moving through the corridor in 2022. Pre season games showed us aggressively moving through the corridor and changing angles to straighten up our attack We will be much harder to play against this year and we will get a good chance to see that in action when we play Sydney in Round 3 - a team we have struggled against for years.
  16. The two practice games couldn't not have gone any better. Good experimentation hard running no injuries. Wins are nice but secondary. We want some early wins as our draw is challenging but its a long season.
  17. The goal umpire was standing behind the post directly in line with the ball. Infuriating that they do this. Often they stand in front of the post and it hits them Clearly they are instructed to adjudicate this way .
  18. Walker was right when he said if it was him kicking Cotchin he would have got a month
  19. Naughton has kicked 10 goals against us in 8 games. Seems unlikely he will crush us.
  20. They haven't finished top 4 under Bevo yet....
  21. Err goals Grundy 3 Gawn 3 Soldo 0 Nankervis 0 Just sayin
  22. We have two monotone footy leaders and one Choco Williams The balance is about right
  23. If the media (and Collingwood) didn't have double standards they would have any at all....
  24. They knew about Angus a lot earlier but were waiting on Jackson to sort out the contractual details (length, front/back loading etc)
  25. Has anyone ever thought that maybe the club doesn't want to disclose too much what its doing? The off season is where you experiment with positional changes, game plans, tactics etc. Is it any wonder that the club wants to keep a few things under wraps?
