The argument would be that his evidence is discredited because he is a (insert, word of choice: druggie, criminal, liar etc etc) ASADA can't rely on that. But they aren't soley relying on that. They have a lot of emails, verbal evidence, interviews etc etc that all lead to the one (even if circumstantial) conclusion....

WADA doesnt give a stuff about the competition. They won't want to let them spread the pain. They want scalps. The bigger the better. They want to inflict punishment. Its the only deterrent they have. WADA want to send a message to teams around the world. Don't mees with this stuff or we'll get you.

We can't afford to throw away picks on players on a whim. Every year these threads are loaded with 'Why didn't we take xyz, he would walk into our best 22' .... 'Doesn't matter cos they wont play anyway' is a flippant thing to say in our position. I want 38 guys that are going to bleed for us, push like hell to get selected, keep pressure on everyone above them and train like their life depended on it. Just to reinforce this point (!) Mark Stevens tweeted tonight that GWS offered pick 4 and pick 7 for Heppell and were rebuffed. I have no doubt they were trying to create mischief rather than generate a genuine trade.

He would have been pick 3 but the Dees knew that Sylvia would have been taken by pick 4 so they took Sylvia at 3 instead.

What does that mean? The second best player at this point in time? Or someone who has greater upside over, say, 5-7yrs?
