PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
Squads win premierships not 22 players. The notion of 'they're not best 22' went out with the Ark. You need to rotate players in your squad. Bedford was sub 8 times. Is it any wonder he left? Jordon sat on the bench for the entire GF and was a sub numerous times. Is it any wonder he left? Fullarton would be mighty [censored] that he was lured to Melbourne and can't get a game. Where does that leave the club if he takes off again? Darren Jolly left years ago because Daniher only played Jeff White. Jolly was brought on for around 6 mins a qtr. He left and played in premierships at Collingwood and at Sydney. But he wasn't best 22 at Melbourne? C'mon. You can't let players languish in the Dewies otherwise they will leave. And when you need them they won't be there.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
One problem with not playing a regular ruck is the number of frees we're likely to give away. Newbies often give away silly frees If we can neutralise the ruck battle somehow the plan could work. High risk high reward When ppl complain about players leaving Melbourne like Jordon, Bedford etc this is a prime reason And also why is hard to recruit a back up ruckman 'come to Melbourne and play at Casey for 3 years' doesn't have great appeal

Free to Air TV Losing Money and Shedding Jobs - What does that mean for footy?
We only have one subscription TV channel so the competition to force prices up for the AFL will be non existent. Not sure what the viewing stats are but I would guess at least 65-70% of viewing on AFL is still FTA

2024 Injury List
Spargo seemed to be in good nick early pre season, got injured, played no practice matches and was selected for the Rd 0 game against Sydney. Hasn't been seen since. Achilles injuries are problematic due to the lack of blood flow in the region so often they will try to inject the area with aerated blood to encourage repair. Maybe they have exhausted those options and now have no other options but surgery. I think its legitimate to question the Spargo selection for Rd 0. It was queried at the time but the longer this goes on the more it looks dubious.

No sympathy for this powerhouse club that prior to the soft cap was spending $300k a week more than Melbourne - $15m a year They tanked after their drug-tainted 2006 flag to get the wooden spoon in 2010, were runner up in 2015 won a flag in 2017 and now back on the bottom of the ladder. People have short memories. Long may it continue

Welcome to Demonland Koltyn Tholstrup
The Rising Star is a BS award Virtually no one nominated after rd 10 has won the award. It was originally the 1st yr player most likely to become a star and somewhere it morphed into a best first year player award. Two different things. Why have an award where over half of the nominations cant win it? Or where a potentially great player is not even nominated because on each particular week some rookie had an outstanding game. And furthermore the suspension to Reid is a joke that he is ineligible. He is head and shoulders above the others.

Kozzie Pickett - 100 games
I think some underestimate how lucky we are to see a player of his calibre, The much lauded Cyril Rioli kicked 40 goals twice in eleven years of AFL. Kozzie has done it twice before he was 21. Last few years 40 goals, 41, 37 and 25 so far this year in 14 games. He is an outstanding talent that will go down as a melbourne great.

"Very sore" Max Gawn in doubt for next Saturday vs Essendon
Just went back and checked the stats. He had zero hitouts in the GF.

Jason Taylor - visionary or overrated
Here's the thing though. They have more info than us. Maybe they were worried about Kozzie going home and needed a plan b? We did go through a long period without any effective small fwds and then in quick time got Bedford, Kozzie, Chandler, Spargo. You never know who will work out and who won't Plus the fact that KPP recruiting is fraught with uncertainty. They are few and far between and take time. Its definitely a moving target and you only have certain tools to work with - ie draft picks, trade currency, salary cap etc.

Jason Taylor - visionary or overrated
Like Jack Darling where the rumours about his nocturnal activities were in overdrive pre-draft
