We played better football when our key players were out of the club injured or suspended.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - COREY MAYNARD
jnrmac replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Howe said at the time he wanted to go to the Pies to play fwd. The inference being he didn't like playing back as Roos had played him there a lot. No Buckley genius there. -
In fairness its not him who is saying anything. Its media looking for something to write about. Having said that I hope Viney smashes him legally into the turf.
-
Efficiency. The Swans had 22 possessions after about 6 mins and 4 goals 2 pts on the board.. quite unbelievable
-
That's where they can be exploited. IF their tall fwds don't mark the ball it can come out pretty quickly. Its good that a few of their talls are out but we aren't very good at defending against tall defenders in general. Rory Lobb to kick a lazy 5
-
Thanks didn't know that....
-
Until this year he might have been but given his outstanding form in the fwd line there isn't any chance whatsoever that the club would seek to trade him. What would you replace him with? Lever? What would be the point?
-
No probs, Oscar and Frosty have got this
-
He is Clayton Oliver.
-
That's a lot of picks to give up.not sure he's worth that many......?
-
He tries to a little too much on the field with his dinky kicks to the corridor but overall he is a great asset and a good bloke to boot!
-
The Carlton doctor has struck again with Kruezer named to play. Seriously their reports have almost caused players to be suspended. I reckon a number would have gotten off - certainly re the severity - if not for the Carlton doctor reports. The other clubs must be seriously shitty with them. I cant wait for a Carlton player to be up at the tribunal and watch other clubs skewer them

A bit? -
Jetta actually has a good record of spoils against taller opponents. He made two spoils against Casboult that I recall were critical. Jetta is not expected to win those type of contests. The fact he does more often than not makes him a stellar defender in my book. So I don't blame Jetta in the same way I would blame Frost and Omac who are the tall defenders and if they lost the contest. They should win the contest more often than not. They don't. Our tall defenders aren't very good at it. You seem to disagree with facts.

Favourites don't always win the brownlow
-
Lin Jong toured Collingwood's facilities last year mid-season I believe

Undoubtedly but you do understand that Champion Data's tracking credits a player with a one-on-one win only after a kick that gives both the target player and the defender a reasonable chance to win the contest. The OP focuses on one on one contests and scores per i50 entry. We are last in the AFL at both. So if a ball comes in from a t/over to a player on his own that is not counted as a one on one.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/08/01/a-brief-history-of-bernie-vince/ Not sure if this has been posted before but here is an interview with Bernie off the SEN website about him growing up in Adelaide, moving to melb etc...

Those that blame the midfield are simply wrong. We are 3rd in total clearances. We are third in centre clearances. We are 5th in total stoppages. We are last in defensive one on ones. Teams score 53% of the time they go into their 50m. Last in the AFL. Keep blaming the mids, or the fwds or the seagulls but you are wrong.
-
Gotta talk to the AFL about the embarrassing look of a Brownlow medallist presenting a brownlow to the second place getter because he was rubbed out....
-
And he came out and kicked 5 the next week.
-
Whilst I think this will happen Kruezer was coscussed. The same report as when we played Carlton. They can't fine (well they can I know) when the player was concussed.
-
The earth is flat. If you read the OP you will see the problem I have highlighted. you simply cannot argue against the fact clubs score on 53% of occasions they go inside 50 against us. The worst in the AFL. We also lose 35% of one on ones in our defence, the worst in the AFL. If you want to shut your eyes and ignore that go ahead. I prefer to be realistic about what strengths and deficiencies we have. That we have largely kept teams to manageable scores is, I would say, a result of two of our defenders having AA-type seasons - Jetta and Hibberd.
-
You clearly haven't read the OP. And talk about making stuff up? You would win a gold medal No one has said we are the worst. We specifically are the worst in the two categories mentioned. You seem to have a problem with facts? What are you? Oscars mum? "No mention of Jetta, Hibberd, Hunt, Salem, Lewis"? Really? Did you want to read the OP again just to check that because its simply wrong. Again another fact that you don't like so ignore it. Oscar's a champ mate. Should be AA this year according to you. Well done.
