  1. You are agreeing with me then? Its not printed anywhere about stiff arm vs bent arm. More AFL bulldust BTW these are for shepherding not for ruck contests.
  2. The club has been training him to lead into a contest with his body not his head which is what he was prone to do. Didn't quite achieve that with this clash but that is the story...
  3. Tell em they need a new wardrobe
  4. The fact we are debating this is proof enough that the rules are stuffed
  5. Apparently when Gawn complained to Ray Chamberlain about the free kicks, Ray said "i'm not happy" Gawn said "Well which one are you then!" Boom tish
  6. Hunt didn't play much junior footy
  7. Geez the commentary around Salem's hit has been hysterical. Finally saw the video. Yes clumsy but the player that picked up the ball turned back in towards the centre of the ground. My guess is that Salem was expecting him to turn towards the boundary. Hardly a hanging offence. I thought going on the reports that Salem had murdered the guy. 2 down to 1 is probably right but there was no malice in it from what I could see.
  8. It might have been lucky but it was there. It stopped Viney from playing on
  9. I have a copy. They are easy to find through Google. They are annoyingly vague as you would expect. 2017_Laws_of_Australian_Football.pdf
  10. His fumble is different because he was in possession for a significant period of time and was running and bouncing (or trying to bounce the ball). When you are clearly in possession you have to dispose of the ball by hand or by foot correctly. Sure players kick or HB poorly but you cannot throw the ball away which is effectively what he did. You do what Bruce did and not give away a free. If Bruce bounced the ball and was tackled before the ball came back to him it is a free every day of the week.
  11. Have a look at what Chris Scott, Hardwick or Buckley and numerous other coaches do when a player is reported. They support their player through the media and push to try and get the best result - regardless of the players actions. Richmond even went as far as getting references from Wally Aly and tried to manufacture one from the Prime Minister. We did nothing except throw him to the wolves. At the very least our club could have come out and said "Bugg has apologised", "it was a reflex action", "Mills initiated contact first" etc Instead they came out and said "it's clearly not how we want to be seen as a footy club" "we'll cop what we get" etc. The Club's advocate Ian Findlay basically threw himself at the mercy of the MRP and basically didn't try to argue a case for getting a suspension no longer than Houli's. The hearing lasted 9 minuts. He said "He comes here tonight not to try to get the charge downgraded, not to waste your time." The fact that the incident happened the week after Houli meant their was a frenzy of media coverage about Bugg. At the very least they should have been saying "Its no worse than Bacher Houli" It may not have worked but he deserved that possibility. Instead he was left to front the media by himself with no club representative there when he made his statement to the media. Hung out to dry.
  12. Sounds like a good result given the incident description on these pages. I thought he had killed someone.....
  13. Players are protected from front on contact though so this was pretty bad in my view.
  14. How TF does Ollie Wines get off for an elbow to the head?? And Toby Greene. Fined for shoving a boot into the face of Dalhaus. They really are brazen and deplorable at the MRP
  15. His ability to beat 2 Saints players on the outer wing in the final quarter was exceptional. He also took a heavy knowck in the second (?) quarter but has definitely been playing below par,
  16. I bet you can't find it printed anywhere. As for the tosh about a stiff arm vs a bent arm its bollocks
  17. You are spot on. I suspect what happened is the same as if he had fumbled the ball and was tackled. The ump would have deemed he wasn't in possession but clearly he had incorrectly disposed of it. There is no doubt it should have been afree and the goal should not have been allowed. I would like to see Goodwin challenge that call as well as Gawn's 5
  18. Will be interested to see if Bugg is forced to come back through the Dewies and if the club wants to make an example of him. I for one was extremely disappointed in how they hung him out to dry. Yes what he did was a brain fade but we should support all of our players. I suspect he won't get straight back in.
  19. Yesterday we were better when he was rucking it seemed to me...
  20. Good luck finding some intelligence with midget [censored] Ray
  21. Dropping the ball is an old rule - as you alluded its now incorrect disposal. And a free is paid only after the ball carrier has had prior opportunity and is tackled correctly. So: No prior: Tackled - ball held - ball up, Ball spills free - play on Prior: Tackled - ball held - free kick; ball spills free or incorrectly disposed by hand or foot - free kick; correctly diposed - play on. But you have 3 umpires all with a different view of the incident and a different interpretation. I am amazed how many obvious frees are not paid - primarily for the sake of a free flowing spectacle.
  22. I don't think so - didn't Dunstall wear one in 1990 when Spaldings knee dented Dunstall's head?
  23. Saw quite a few with pamphlets on the rules of the game (Shame someone didn't give them to the umps). They would have been rightly confused by what they saw but I was amused by hearing one say when reading the pamphlet "you mean they have to bounce the ball every 15 metres, that's weird"
  24. Ha ha I agree with you.
