This is what TMac did in 2018. He has drifted from that recently but was a dead eye [censored] back then

Casey Demons vs Williamstown
The issue is game time for those that aren't in the seniors. How does a Melksham for example get match fit....? With less rotations, the possibility of player fatigue is high and the ability of clubs to manage the fitness of their player rosters is compromised.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Geelongs game plan is well known. Chip chip. We have to be patient, structured down back and pressure the ball carrier. It looks as though we have improved our maturity this year along with pressure acts and team efforts. we should be right. But we need to take our chances when we get a shot on goal...

Casey Demons vs Williamstown
What a debacle the VFL still doing pre-season pratice matches when we are up to round 4. Amateur hour

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs GWS
I was surprised that Trac had so many possessions when I reveiwed the stats. On first viewing I thought he had an average game (for him). Perhaps because his disposals weren't as damaging. I hope he doesn't go possession chasing from here on and instead goes for maximum team impact.

Kick-Ins
The AFL have inadvertantly solved the kick in problem we have had for a decade or more...

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Geelong
GWS threw loads of players back so it was never going to be a night for TMac or any tall other than Max when they bombed the ball in. But he did compete by tackling and bringing the ball to ground and his game was serviceable IMO.

Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
Oliver is already the best mid we have had for nearly 40 years and he's only played 100 games. He's also getting better if the last 2 games are an indication. There is a price at which you wouldn't match it but we would be made to facilitate a trade for him. We should be doing everything in our power to keep our young guys together. Winning generally means they want to keep playing together so lets all hope that Goody has really turned the corner with his coaching.

Welcome to Demonland - Australian Bond Exchange
I don't really have any concerns about them, just think its unusual. Not sure where they will get a return out of this. As it turns out I know one of the guys on their website so I'll probably ask him next time I see him. And yes they are a little like FIIG.

Welcome to Demonland - Australian Bond Exchange
This is an unusal sponsorship. Bonds are a very niche market in Australia and not really for retail type clients so not sure what they would be getting out of the exposure. As for IG, I suspect their agreement ran out. They probably got what they needed. I see their competitor CMC Markets sponsors the Saints which I assume is a direct result of IG sponsoring melbourne....FOMO

Steven May Article
May has all the attributes, he's quick, can mark, he's strong, he has a good footy IQ and he can kick. His attitude seems exemplarary. Hopefully he can lift the standards for all our players. Hes a beauty

Manning the Mark Rule Change
From Rd 1 33% of kick ins resulted in an i50. 5yr avg is 19% Avg pressure rating 176 vs 5 yr avg of 182 42% of scores came from the back half vs 36% 5yr avg Stoppages avg 49 vs 5yr avg 63 1. Its a small sample but if continued suggests Ruck dominance is now not so important - Gawn Grundy and others had average games in Rd 1. Gawn should spend more time in the fwd line. 2. Less pressure is good for the Demons. We have typically fallen apart under pressure and turned the ball over. 3. Back half generating scores is good for us. With May Lever Salem distributing the ball from the back half we should do better 4. Kick ins have been a problem for us for years. Maybe now its easier to get the ball out of the defence we will see more i50s and scores... 5. Fitness also looks like it will be a key factor this year Coaches will adjust and adapt but will be interesting to see if these resultsstay the same....

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
An AA ruckman dominating 40 to 17 in the hit outs against a 1st gamer and we comprehensively lose the clearances. Yeah, I'd describe it that way.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
So you have now changed the bar to include 'played well in a loss'. Good to know. You do understand the role of a small forward don't you? Are you after 5 goals and 20 possessions in a loss?

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
No it wasn't. The Hunt free on Henry was ridiculous as was the Salem 'sling tackle'. Lever received a 50m penalty that was totally wrong and Langdon gave away a 50m penalty but was next to his opponent as he ran past. There were a least a dozen more howlers that I recall..

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Harmes' performance was very worrying. He has gone completely backwards since 2018 and on yesterdays performance he is way off the mark.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
According to Jordan Lewis the first possession at the clearance is important but what happens after that is crucial. There is now a lot more space around stoppages and thats where we were killed yesterday. Freo more often than not took the ball away because Melbourne were still bees around the honeypot. A break to the outside and they were away. This got better for us as thegame wore on but its a work in progress. Aside from our KP backs who were outstanding , Hats off to Spargo who was very infuential, JJ was great, Nev was back to his best one on one, Hunt did some nice things, Langdon is a gun, Jacksons last quarter showed what he can do and Kozzie will frighten a few teams this year. It was a warm day and I was worried about Freo running out the game better but alas our fitness was very good. Our kicking for goal is pathetic. and the umpires have gone backwards if that is even possible,
