I'm not disputing that and I didn't say that. I was talking about Harley. Good day.

How many did Bennell's opponent have? Case for the defence rests
-
This appears to be the problem we have been having for a long time. Many here can see it. I don't know if its stubborness or stupidity but it aint good. It reminds me of the rubbish posted here a few years ago that game plans take 3 years to develop. Brisbane's didn't, Western Bulldogs didn't. Plenty others dont. Its a cop out. I really believe that Goodwin doesn't have flexibility and ignores the obvious. His comments on the weekend after the game made me want to throw up: 1. "we couldn't get the ball off them" Seriously. I just throw my hands up in the air, this has been going on for years. You plan for it. Like you should plan for 2 mins to go and 4 pts down. PICK UP THE OPPOSITION PLAYERS WHEN THEY HAVE THE BALL FFS. Its not that hard. Don't allow them to chip the ball around. And yes the leadership on the ground should pick that up but ultimately its a failure of coaching. But Goodwin seems fixated on playing zones which don't work. I think he's stupid actually. When you look at his behaviour with gambling, Stephen Dank and the drug issue and his inflexibility I can come to no other conclusion. 2. "next time a team tries to hold the ball against us we will be better prepared". Seriously, he should resign in shame over that comment. This is he difference between a Clarkson coached side and ours. I remember a few years back when we were 98pts down against the Hawks with 2mins to go and the hawks were flooding back trying to not let us score. I thought at the time he was just being narky and wanted to win by over 100pts but was later told by a Director of Hawthorn that they were practicing the defending with 2mins to go plan. That's what a good coach does.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
jnrmac replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Goodwin "We are continuing to work on ... his contests and defensive elements of the game that is required within his role. But he has missed a lot of footy, so our expectation is that he is not going to be perfect in that space but he does bring something unique to our team." I was pleased Harley got through his first game and he has talent but he also has zero defensive skills on that showing. He wandered around by himself and refused to pick up a player Good that he has been called out. -
It's like being in kindergarten and the grade 4 kid says hi Swoon
-
They don't just magically lose their talent
-
They have all gone backwards. Happens when you have a coach that confuses the [censored] out of them. They're like rabbits in the headlights with no idea what to do. So scared of making mistakes. There is no initiative at all. He's trying to make them into Goodwin robots. They are failing badly. He has the personality of a wet lettuce and it reflects how our team plays. If I was listening to him day in day out I would tune out as well.

Taken from another thread, this post is a total indictment on the playing and coaching group.

Carlton's ladder position each year since Mark LoGiudice was appointed president in 2014: 2014 - 13th 2015 - 18th 2016 - 14th 2017 - 16th 2018 - 18th 2019 - 18th You're a 1 man comedy show
-
Yeah thats it, our club is a laughing stock and has been for years but its our supporters that are the problem.

"Take it from me" "winning is the 2nd priority" Ha ha

This above is all true. How about this? Rd 21, 2018 The Swans had 99 uncontested marks to Melbourne's 61, as the Swans cleverly maintained possession and exposed the Demons' inability to defend by constantly creating the outnumber forward of the ball and making the Demons' defensive press look second-rate. This was Rd 21 2018! This was the game when Goodwin realised he had to change and after that he made several changes that launched our first finals campaign in 11 years. The Swans chipped the ball all over the ground denying Melbourne possession. They won convincingly. Up till that point of the season melbourne were average just 10 goals a game and a bucketload of i50s. Now Goodwin has the gall to claim in the presser that "we coudn't get the ball of them (Geelong)" AND "we'll be better prepared the next time a team tries to do this" Seriously? This guy is a fraud. We have struggled forward of centre for 6 years. We have struggled with teams that pressure us and with teams that deny us possession. And Goodwin is surprised by this tactic? The whole league understands this except our genious coaching staff. I am sick of listening to him justify his position week after week. He is simply not up to it. As for those saying " we can't change the coach , it won't ake any difference" we have ample evidence that the same rubbish is being served up week in week out yet a coach like Beveridge can win a flag, Fagan can get his team firing, Teague can get his team playing attractive footy and we still look like [censored]. Even when we win we look like [censored]. Goodwin is killing our club.

We won 2 finals without Hogan

For anyone thnking 'Geelong is a good side and we nearly pinched it' this is what they are saying at the cattery Geelong tries its best to lose and finds a way to stagger to a 4 point win over Demons We officially tanking?? coach, and players, ought to be bloody embarrassed for a second week in a row. Paper over cracks win Well we are officially the worst team to watch in the league Gold coast are going to spank us next week Were a blight on the game right now. Massive issues that simply arent being addressed. Players being carried by the old brigade and a gameplan that is truly awful. As soon as we go slow we lose, still a mentality weak team with an average coaching setup and game plan. They should be embarrassed. Jack Steven dancing around like he's won the Normie. I have never enjoyed a win less. If Clark can't get back in next week after that plodding mess, then the coaching staff/selectors have truly lost the plot. I really hate watching us play now.

Melbourne traded picks 26 and 50 in 2019 and its 2020 first-round pick for North's 2019's pick 8. We then traded pick 8 to Freo who gave us pick 10 and pick 28 plus Carlton's future 4th round pick.
-
Goodwin in his presser: "we couldn't get the ball off them" "Next time we play a team that wants to hold on to possession we'll be better prepared" Seriously, If I was Goodwin I would resign in shame - if not after that game, then after comments like the above. It's the stock standard way to beat melbourne. We all know it, the rest of the league know it but our genius coach hasn't yet worked it out. Holy cow. Anyone that was wavering about Goodwin's ability to coach look no further than the two lines above.
-
Maybe if we fold before years end norf won't get out number 1 draft pick You know it makes sense
-
Do what you like. We're a crap team with a crap coach
-
Because that's how you beat Melbourne. Lazy footballers that won't chase or pick up players. Its written on a stone tablet somewhere in the mountains. All the other coaches have read it. Play keepings off. The Dees wont run.

Saty hack your account?

Goodwin can't coach. Our fwd 50 entries have been atrocious for 5 years. We got lucky in 2018 because we converted the "chaos ball". Still couldn't hit a target. Our midfield is lazy. Oliver and Viney hopeless today. Oliver refuses to man up when we don't have the ball and jogs when geelong are transitioning. Dumb mistakes like manning a goal line, not moving the ball fast enough and 50m penalties for goals when goals were scarce. Goodwin repeatedly makes the same mistakes and has no answers. Geeling are a crap side but they had more poise than us at critical times. FFS they didn't even have a proper ruckman and were 1 key defender down all day. The pre-game discussions were totally derisive about the Demons and laid out exactly how we would get beaten. Lo and behold that's how we got beaten. You can cuddle your teddy bear and cry yourslef to sleep thinking it will all magically fix itself but the club will disappear because no one cares other than people on here and a few others.
-
Like to hear from all of the Goodwin supporters today. He is finished. No vision, no passion, zero intensity, can't get players to do basic things like stand on a goal line or hit a target. I'm sick of him. was gifted a coaching role with zero experience and has had one year where we fluked a couple of finals. Big f******g deal. Sad thing is we as supporters, know exactly how this will play out, We have seen it all before. We throw away leads, we let teams get a sniff, we don't pick up players but guard grass - is there anything more infuriating seeing a team chip chip chip the ball around and our lazy hacks just amble around without a care in the world. Goodwin is killing the support for this club and one day it won't be around. And hardly anyone will notice. or care.
-
2018 was definitely an anomoly. This putrid team is unwatchable.
-
This this and this. When Geelong have the ball you'd swear our players were instructed not to go near a player. Laziest bunch of idiots to play the game.
-
What a bunch of brain dead footballers Every Geelong goal that quarter was a gift from our useless team. Basic stuff like having a player on the goal line. Simpleton Goodwin can't teach these guys how to do normal things that the players should learn in primary school It's infuriating following this team And Geelong are useless
