  1. Sorry if I have stolen someone else's thunder with this thread but there is a certain amount of schadenfreude reading through the Hawthorn Big Footy site. Fair to say not much optimism there... We'll play long and slow along the boundary as we have all season and did against them earlier in the year so as to turn it into a defensive, contested game. We try and play through the middle and kick to forwards who lead is, in simple ways, how you win, but at the same time, if Melbourne aren't asleep like Sydney were against us, the risk is they bury us on turnovers from our lack of skills and their superior defensive unit. I assume we play the 22 fit players left on our list. Maybe let them choose where they want to play. No CJ, Day, Sicily, Scrimshaw, Impey, Wingard, Gunston. Coach who has been told he is not the man to take us forward. Cold, wet weather forecast. Against the best team in the comp. Twilight timeslot. In a pandemic. Well done if you're going this week. Jaeger and Kosi must be in doubt. Both looked lame. I simply can't see how we'll win this game, we'll get smashed in the ruck, smashed in the midfield, don't have anyone to seriously trouble May and Lever even when we do get it forward and lots of our rebounding intercept defenders are injured. Praying we only lose by 8 goals as opposed to something really disastrous. If Sean Darcy can get 25 possessions and 9 marks imagine what Gawn will do! It's going to be an absolute blood bath A COVID outbreak and resultant postponement of the match is probably the best we can hope for with this one The only question in this one is, will be lose by more goals than I drink beers for the day ? Our mids should be aiming for Gawn with every kick. We might only hit him once or twice that way This is the least I am looking forward to a game all year. I just hope that Melbourne go through the motions for a 50 point win as opposed to actually giving a fu**... that would be a scary scenario. Unfortunately though if itโ€™s in MItchell's hands it will be in opposition hands pretty soon thereafter. 1 score involvement from 39 touches is diabolically low impact.
  2. Just done some checking on future picks and if I have it correctly then this year; Melbourne receive: Hawthorn's pick 3, North's rd 4 pick, Brisbane's 2nd and 4th round picks, Bulldogs Rd 3 pick We give our 1st pick away to Brisbane That is a pretty good result and the club really back the right horses it would seem... https://www.afl.com.au/news/528418/future-picks
  3. Do we get a second round Hawthorn pick somewhere ? Was it for Frost?
  4. I don't follow soccer but can someone tell me why the Italian Captain wasn't sent off when he dragged the England player down as he was trying to break away? Seems like an obvious send off to me?
  5. Sounds like you have a few issues
  6. That is the part players are taking advantage of and umpires are adjudicating incorrectly. They are paying a free kick against the tackler when the ball spills free. On another matter throwing the ball does my head in. There would have been 20 last night from Port alone.
  7. I assume Petracca as well seeing he is doing Cash Converters ads?
  8. I don't think Wines damaged us. A bit like Zach Merret. Most of his possessions were under pressure. Thought Boak was far more damaging.
  9. ANB's first half was amongst his worst ever but I thought he played a lot better in the second half.
  10. Petty really bounced back from 3 or 4 poor games. Loved the fact that he backed himself - previously he looked too timid to me. Too scared to make mistakes Could be the making of him to get that confidence.
  11. We brought pressure from the first bounce, won every quarter and really controlled the game most of the night (altho it didn't feel like it!) The fact that Hinkley had to try Alir in the middle was an attempt to change things up and an acknowledgement that they were being beaten around the contest. The move didn't work - and hence he will cop it - but he probably had to try something to unsettle us. Our second half pressure was in line with the best we have produced this year. Anyone thinking that our last 3 or 4 weeks was for reasons other than pressure isn't reading the play very well. Credit to the team for bouncing back and for the coaching staff getting them firing from the first bounce - someting that doesn't happen very often at the Dees.
  12. Hinkley was trying to do something different. Good on him. Unfortunately when it doesn't come off ppl say "what the f"? Had it worked out would have been a masterstroke
  13. We had 19 tackles i50 to 9 That's the game there Huge difference in intent and pressure this week
  14. Gawn confirming they did a block of hard training around the bye. But said it wasn't a factor in their form slump
  15. You might be joking but we havent played like that for quite a few weeks. If we could only fix our goal kicking
  16. Is that the first game this year we have won every quarter??? Go dees
  17. Another fiukjng throw
  18. We're on top here Just poor kicking again. 2g5b to 2g2b Should be miles in front Have to watch out for the hometown umpiring on the run home
  19. Pressure has gone up
  20. Centre clearance
  21. Brayshaw. 'He slipped so is not a free' Tmac. Wtf???,,,
  22. He's from SA. amazing how ppl life lift playing at home
  23. Petty has had a great night. But his last 3 weeks have been terrible
