I agree he should but its a stupid award if half the players nominated can't win it and a bunch of the players not nominated can't win it.

I think we were trying to shut down the game WCE were clearly trying to play on at all costs , we kept trying to slow things down to kill their momentum. The problem is we always kick to a contest believing that we can win it or force a stopagge WCE on the other hand (and Geelong for that matter) are masters of the short chip kick to keep us running and on the back foot. Its the opposite of what we do. It happens all the time and is so frustrating. A player takes a mark or free and instead of immediately chipping it 20m they go back and wait. There is a simple rule in footy - when you have the ball the other guys dont. We need to practice that a lot more than we do.

When a player wins a free like Darling and wants to grab the ball - and then Petty tries to hold up play by grabbing the ball and stopping Darling getting the ball I have to say Petty should have been pinged. In the context of the game 5 mins to go and the free kick count 10 to 2 since the restart they probably thought it best not to call it.

Pickett and Oliver spend way to much time wrestling with their oppostion. Both gave away uneccessary frees . Just focus on getting the pill

Gee Fritsch was poor last night. His kicking really gives me the [censored]. He looks so casual and leans back on his shots. Its such a basic thing. He needs to be leaning forward over his leg as he kicks. Surprised they haven't drilled him at training. He has to make those shots count. Particulalry on a night when goals are hard to come by and he only gets two or three looks at it. Petracca's kicking has the tendency to do the same when he leans back or kicks off a step. Annoying when he gets the ball and doesn't get back on the mark quickly - then goes for a hero kick...that nearly gets spoiled Aaarrggh

Kennedy goaled from two frees that were ridiculous 1. A bump from May when he was running with the flight of the ball - front on contact - you're kidding - whats May supposed to do? Let him have a free run at it? 2. The mark by Rivers that wasn't paid and adjudged a push was wrong and pathetic. The deliberate against Brayshaw who was kicking a slippery ball on his left foot The deliberate against Lever that bounced backwards(!!) and then across the line The Spargo Play on. Petty was bumped out of a contest in the goal square when the ball was 15m away There were dozens. Nicholls is a disgrace to the game and should never umpire again.

He should be nominated but he cant win it. Its a joke of an award - its impossible to win effectively by being nominated after round 14. You either have a best first year player award OR you have an award for the player that is the most likley to be a star And there are good players that have great years but don't get nominated because someone has a blinder one week. Or the AFL need to spread the love for teams that haven't yet been nominated....
