Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Its not just any club though hey. A club waiting for a no footy experience CEO, waiting for the pres to start, generally on the nose with the media, home base issues, a leaky and factioned board, whipping boy for head office to change rules via the tribunal..... A newbie won't cut it (or at least is very unlikely to) The head coach position is far far more than just coaching - he(or she) will instantly become the figure head of this footy club - the face that represents every facets going forwards. It requires an unwavering approach in the face of every piece of [censored] that gets thrown at it from the media, a seasoned coach with super strong links at head office, the media and has the gravitas to inspire our current underperforming stars and attract new actual talent not just the scraps that no one else wants. It 100% HAS to be one of Buckley, Longmire, Simpson or Hinkley. I am now absolutely convinced Buckley is the right man for the job

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Interestingly over in Magpie Land, the wheels have fallen off the Fly Love in A quote from Nicks Bulletin board on their "is Mcrae the best coach since Jock Mchale" thread "Tonight you got your answer. When the going is tough the last thing you need is a friendly new age coach. The coaches drank their own bathwater after the last bye." The last thing we need is another 'matey' type coach. We need a performance culture not a love in

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Listening to the Bucks and whateley segment. Bucks just talked himself into going for it. Went from yeah nah to 'theyre a big club with a storied history and good experienced list' and his facial cues gave it away very quickly - he is 100% gunning for the gig at the end. Would he be my first choice - doubt it, but 2nd time around getting some ducks in a row it could work with him. Still prefer Horse or Simmo, but Bucks has a quality about him - all 3 would demand a working FD structure and bring the required gravitas to focus the playing group

Has to be done now - gives a chance to get things in place before preseason starts. Otherwise its not together until Christmas at the earliest

Time to go Goody?
I'm thinking our team must be close to signing up as consultants for NASA. There have certainly been enough learnings for them to be smart enough by now. Either that or they were all really really really stupid before all these learnings. Either way Mr Goodwin deserves an extended pat on the back for bringing so much intelligence to the team. If only he taught them how to play [censored] football

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Have the umpires ever enforced 4 in the middle after a 666 free before?? There is nothing in the rules to say that must happen. Have never ever seen that when a free is played without a centre bounce. Players just run to the end its going

Gerard whateleys view - completely aligns with us and we need to appeal https://sen.com.au/news/2025/07/23/whateley-the-problem-with-the-may-verdict

May to Tribunal
Players these days don't have the same sense of self protection as10,20 30+years ago. The rules have taken out the bump which often was about protecting yourself as much hurting your opponent. This collision 10 years ago doesn't happen - both players most likely turn a little sideways to brace for contact instead of May running straight on and Evans leading with his face. Neither player gets hurt. I have taught my 12 year old son to protect himself in the contest. Its really the only way to stop yourself from being injured like Evans was. AFL rules, MRO, the tribunal system are to blame for his injuries and head office needs to be held accountable. Being officiating in the manner they have for the past 5-10 years they have completely changed the way it gets played so people lead with their head into contests. I can't stand seeing this. Players need to be able to protect themselves first and foremost

And then take it to the court system for restraint of trade. Unlawfully preventing our player from his rightful position at work due to corporate bullying.

Appeal and if that fails just play him anyway if we lose the 4 points for an unregistered player or don't think would give a flying [censored]

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Docherty retiring next game. Wowee. What a crazy career. More lows than highs. 3 x ACL, 2 x cancers, and a life at carlton. Was going to post during the game day thread about being angry and [censored] off about a carlton set shot that pretty much ended our night but then it was Doch having the shot and to be honest I was actually OK with if. Great bloke had a [censored], really [censored] few years out of his 14 in the league. Wish him the best - perhaps we would be wise in finding him a post playing role at our club and teach our boys about resilience

Seriously how many times can he stick his knee with all his weight into people - multiple multiples not even including the petracca incident. That is disgraceful from Moore - obviously deliberate- after Petracca he knows just dangerous his knees are. This should be absolutely called out. Michael Christian is a [censored] cheating [censored] when it comes to his beloved Collingwood
