you can't please everyone. But I thought Martin was our best defender...did you leave the game early too?
-
dude, how the hell can you make comments on the game if you didn't even go? you posted at 4.44pm..the game finished at 4.45pm. bloody joke. your comments show that you have no idea about footy and didnt even go and support them by rocking up today. Here is my 3 word analysis from someone that actually went to the game: Bartram - tackled and hassled Bate - 4 goals straight Bruce - prolific and effective Cheney - good overhead marking Davey - great despite clangers Dunn - found some space Grimes - loose ball gets Johnson - great despite hitouts Jones - goal main highlight Maric - 2 easy goals Martin - Many high spoils McDonald - Many quick clearances McLean - great in close Miller - made no mistakes Moloney - great. handball happy Morton - Great despite smother (costly!) Petterd - always looked dangerous Robertson - contested and rewarded Sylvia - had great fundamentals Warnock - hardly noticed him Whelan - best small defender Valenti - good goal assist

cale wont go. and if he is contracted then he is safe from being traded. thats how i understand it. Otherwise, Gold COast will just say give me Franklin, Judd, Ablett and Selwood. Doesn't work like that. We only have to worry if they are not under contract.

Players safe from being poached by the Gold Coast
Freak replied to Freak's topic in Melbourne Demons
me not knowing that Jurrah hadn't nominated in time is trivial, Jurrah not getting his forms in for the National Draft is a serious stuff up. That said, I've seen eveery casey game this year and he looks pretty good. If he can stack on 15 kgs in 3 years, i htink he'll make it. -

oh okay cool. You've got to ask questions about someones commitment with not being able to get yourself nominated in time. what the hell -
taller is taller my friend. 2cm's is the difference between ryan o keefe and nick riewoldt...2cm's is 2cm's.

why do people here talk about liam jurrah like he is going to be a long term successful player. he was overlooked in the national draft right? which means clubs didnt rate him in the top 80 players in his draft. odds are stacked heavily against him -
kerr is taller

With Watts, Maric, Morton, Martin, Jones, Frawley, Garland, Bennell, Mclean, Sylvia, Wonaeamirri, Petterd, Grimes, Blease being our future...which of these players are we most likely to lose to the GC? I was watching Petterd, and I got to thinking that I would hate for him to go to the gold coast. Do people know his contract details? Not in particular petterd, but all of these players. It would be good to compile a list of these players that are in no danger of being poached.

Cale Morton doesnt have the body type that will be able to stack on weight. LIke Bruce, he will only probably be able to put on another 5kg to reach his peak
-
well you'd physically let you know your there, hurt him a bit with bumps and tackles etc. Then whenever Morton gets the ball from there on in, the perceived pressure alone will make him turn it over.

the bottom 4 should just be raffled, nba style. that way none of the bottom 4 clubs tank. And some may say that you might tank to get into the bottom 4 but thats silly because if your not in the bottom 4, you're often just out of the finals. It would solve all the problems
-
Easily strauss. he is the better kick out of the 4 and by a fair margin
-
its good that we're playing carlton in rd 21 and 22 respectively so we dont have the heartache of losing a priority pick like we did against carlton a few years ago.we'll win exactly 4. we'll beat west coast, richmond and fremantle. port will beat us at the mcg. thats our only scare.
-
why do people think that we will lose to richmond when we play them again? We beat them the first time, and with the natural improvement that will come from our younger players as the season goes on surely we will beat them again and they will finish bottom?
-
davey would be the worst captain. Great player but to be captain you have to speak well in front of the media. And whilst Davey has improved in this area...he will never be anywhere near as confident or able compared to our other candidates
-
lol. well i'll start up an interesting question. If you had to choose between keeping Bennell or Cheney on our list. who would you choose? One is a quick, silky, neat, skinny half back flanker and the other one is a slowish, but extremely aggressive, well-built, tough as nails back pocketer. I'd choose Bennell, simply because as we know, skills are so important in todays game.
-
probably yes, but not for us. If anyone has heard Watts talk he is amazingly professional. A good combination of humour and professionalism. I think our captains will come from: Mclean Watts or both (i.e Mclean then Watts)

Back on to Jamie Bennell

wow christensen is only 176cm's. interesting. most people of that height either dont get picked up or slide majorly.

good game by morton...but i still see problems with his kicking (like many others). He kicks into the man on the mark too often, and kicks it on the full at least once a game. when he is playing, he sees a player open and chooses to kick to him. So he puts his head over the footy, concentrates and executes the kick..but by that time the player is no longer open..hence a turnover. he has a long load up time which results in a high amount of turnovers and many of his kicks being smothered.
-
it also seems as if another player could enter the top 3. allen christensen from geelong falcons. He averaged 28 touches, and over a goal a game and is half aboriginal by the look of him. looks like daniel kerr. hard at it too. he was mentioned by shifter on 'tac stars on the rise' as the best player in the tac cup in his opinion. big wraps
-
his kicking is okay. not bad, not great..just okay
-
the last post was spot on the money. all the radio stations were mentioning that Mortons disposals were the worst aspects of his game. And its hard to disagree. His kicks aren't risky...despite what a previous person states. For starters, he needs to take an extra 2 steps backwards before he kicks..because he kicks it into the man on the mark so many times. Junior football mistakes. I dont have a problem with a player that turns it over after kicking it 55metres down the line. I have a problem with a player that turns it over trying to pinpoint a man in the defensive 50m . Its a high risk for low reward..not to mention stupid. Nevertheless i was happy with Cale's game..from a quantity of possessions perspective
