Well not post-match but I didn't want to start a new thread on this: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-03-30/umpires-boss-wayne-campbell-to-take-over-as-giants-football-manager Being stuck in the middle of NSW over the lifetime of GWS and seen the free ride they had from the umpires, especially early on, I reckon Campbell was working for GWS well before now.

As long as we aren't on growth hormones.

I only saw the second half, but I thought the skills were not so good. Ad I don't think pressure is an excuse. I've seen both clubs show better skills under similar pressure.

They may be the least to blame, but blame still is there. The Hird-acolytes are not doing this to just benefit the players, they are trying to whitewash themselves hiding behind the players and even the new clean ones. Some form of protest is required to make the point that the real guilty parties have not been properly penalised.

maybe he'll appeal....

We'd get done for tanking.
-
True, except it s now going to be very unpredictable when a free is given or not. We'll end up with last man to touch the ball before it goes out gives away a free like soccer.

The AFL seems to be dedicated to pissing me off in little ways as well as big ones. Now when you click on Roos' press conference on the MFC site you see a bit of it and then it displays a message saying go to the AFL web site to see the full interview. Not only does that mean in future people won't go to the MFC site (which is bad for our business), but they don't even put a link to it - they expect you to get to the URL yourself.

Anyone have an idea why we would use less than allowed?

Is the rule now 10m or what? I can understand the umps making mistakes all day long (as much as I don't like it) but how could they get that so wrong. On another rule, if you are just behind an oppo player who has a mark or a free and you want to run down the ground on your own, it seems you have to run sideways 10m before you start. That seems impossible to umpire consistently.

Rules question: When Pedersen had that shot from the boundary against the point post, aren't the GWS players meant to be further away than they were. One of them seemed even closer than last year?

Since the draw was discussed earlier in this thread, this analysis may be of interest. We don't come out too badly. https://theconversation.com/is-winning-all-that-matters-in-afl-or-does-the-performance-count-52907?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=The%20Weekend%20Conversation%20-%204558&utm_content=The%20Weekend%20Conversation%20-%204558+CID_60c6629a70b5ebd53466abd56a01dd7a&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Is%20winning%20all%20that%20matters%20in%20AFL%20or%20does%20the%20performance%20count

"Whomever it takes" -revised EFC motto

I agree. But I have no time for the older players and so-called leaders who are as guilty as hell.

I wonder why hasn't Heppel contacted his mate Hal Hunter and told him what he was injected which was apparently completely safe? Surely that would reassure Hal since he'd be unlikely to assume he was given something that Heppel wasn't. Answer - Heppel is fooling himself.

From the HUN article today quoting Tim Watson: How can they say that with confidence if they don't know what was injected? They must at least know what class of substance it was to be able to say that.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-20/headlines-to-watch-for-in-the-2016-afl-season/7258902 Melbourne - Hogan outfoxes umpire in heated verbal stoush Unquestionably a superstar on the rise, Jesse Hogan finds himself frustrated at a perceived lack of respect from pundits who question his accuracy in front of goal. Having made up with ex-Demon David Schwarz, Hogan turned attentions to umpire Ray Chamberlain. When Razor signalled "all clear" for Hogan's fifth behind of the day, the young forward pointed out that his goalkicking accuracy percentage was far better than the infamous ump's correct-free kick percentage. Despite the latter stat not existing, most agreed Hogan was right.

Good to know, but I'm now concerned for Trengove's moral development.

That makes sense. I then wonder why Demetriou hasn't been charged with something since it seems pretty clear. I dimly recall his defence was that he didn't tell EFC it was specifically them that was in trouble. But since he doesn't seemed to have issued a general warning to other clubs, that effectively means he told EFC that it was them being investigated.
-
I still cannot fathom why Hird would try to drop Demetriou in it for warning Essendrug and giving them a chance to start the shredder.
-
Sadly they seem to have fooled a substantial number.

" Dank, like former Essendon coach James Hird, believes Demetriou unlawfully tipped off Essendon in February 2013 after he met with the Australian Crime Commission, warning the Bombers they were being investigated for the possible use of performance-enhancing drugs before the ACC's report was released. : You wonder what these turkeys would do if you dobbed them in rather than warned you it was time to fire up the shredder.
