  1. Surely the relentlessly consistent AFL will fine him for his outburst.
  2. I had some trouble trying to decide who to barrack for last night. Until I remembered who was North's coach.
  3. Did you watch the Casey match? I don't think the extra day to recover would outweigh the slog they had to endure. No point in replacing a tired player with a buggered one.
  4. Was reportable in my view. Certainly should have been a second goal.
  5. As a citizen of Fairlyland, this sort of definitive statement really makes me angry. Show us or point us to some hard evidence to support the proposition or shut up. Sure go ahead and argue that HL is on the skids as a player, but this sort of statement is just stupid without evidence. BTW, does Brayshaw also have issues beyond concussion?
  6. no but smug magpie is a tautology
  7. well his name is honest at least.
  8. Anyone know what the AFL's reasoning is behind starting the match at 3:20? Seems an odd time to me when there are no other matches.
  9. It might defuse some of the bickering since it doesn't give the poster of the 'disliked' post any words which he feels obliged to rebut.
  10. It's pretty obvious that that simplification is complete rubbish. You'd expect winning help a bit (though not much evidence for that actually) but dollars wins hands down.
  11. There is no way you could have a floating schedule. There are lots of things other than travel by a few spectators that need to be organised. While it may be workable for certain games to be moved/swapped, in general it would be a logistical nightmare.
  12. True, but in Canberra we have had FTTN for years and while better than ADSL it is a road to nowhere with extra points of failure. It had the 'advantage' of frying several bits of equipment in our house when there was lightning nearby - would never happen with FTTP.
  13. How dare the cub misinform us supporters about how long Viney would be out. I'm outraged that playing with Buckley's head is considered more important. Off to the microwave. I go....
  14. I'm not prepared to predict the future, but I agree with the first 2 sentence.
  15. AFL clubs are more businesses than community groups these days, but: http://thenewdaily.com.au/sport/2016/06/06/vic-councils-demand-cut-afl-pokies-cash/?utm_source=Responsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20160607_TND2
  16. his knuckle would have overridden any lack of brain fade.
  17. Hallelujah. Is there a rule about that?
  18. 100% agree. And why do they zoom in on the player who has just missed a goal or made some mistake rather than showing what options the player kicking out has. It's almost as if they are sadists revelling in someone's pain. Wide shots annoy some people because they can't easily see which player is which. To that I say the game is more important than the player or get yourself a new large TV, we are no longer living with 12" Black & white sets. Of course it would help if the AFL took more care with clash jumpers rather than care of certain clubs.
  19. Hawthorn supporters could also grumble that they didn't get much out of their small forwards.
  20. Cheer up . I wasn't the belting most here were expecting. Stayed with them for 3 quarters and weren't obliterated in the last, we simply lost to a far more experienced team. Some of you guys just amaze me. I hope the club raises the kicking in danger issue. And the increasingly ludicrous head ducking issue. Sue sometimes it requires a bit of mind-reading to know if the player ducked or slipped etc, but they pay frees even when it is glaringly obvious. Either that or we need to employ a ducking coach.
  21. For our entertainment: From BT to Dwayne Russell: the AFL commentary mid-season report card
  22. The AFL is not entirely drive by the popularity of a team in arguing with Channel 7 about timeslots. Otherwise I wouldn't be driven crazy by having to see GWS every bloody week in a region where there are more supporters of any team you can mention than there are GWS supporters. But whether that policy would be extended to minor Vic clubs is another story.
  23. That makes a lot of sense to me - surprised that so few posters have made this point. I suspect the selection panel may take a step back from that for fear of the effect on the younger players of playing in too many losses. I doubt they will do so for fear of Demonland posters getting upset though.
  24. Doubtless you can teach a new game plan in a few weeks, but to see what happens to the players trying to implement it when they are up against real competition, particularly from more experienced older players, is an entirely different thing.
  25. There is no way to learn how to do it without trying. By definition of 'learn' it is almost certain it will fail to work a lot of the time until it is learnt. If it is the best way to produce a winning team, the only questions are will it ever work reliably with our players and can we bear the pain while they learn. I'd prefer this uncertainty to hearing people grumbling about defensive game plans.
