  1. Maybe if we just remind them that we gave them Thompson they will let us have dangerfield.
  2. No say it isn't so!! We can't even lose properly.
  3. Watts: The great white fear. Is he tough enough? This will be the most argued point on demonland for the next 5 years.
  4. Given our predicament it is an excellent opportunity. So long as we don't risk protracting the development of players that will be around in 3 years for players that probably won't be around. Dunn, Miller, Valenti and Newton sit firmly in this boat. If we don't play them and they continue to play well at VFL level then we learn nothing. Play them for the rest of the season, delist them if they don't stack up. PJ, like it or not he'll stay because he is a ruck, (or at least that is how I see it) Rivers & Beamer aren't going anywhere so i don't think it applies in the same way as it does for dunn etc. Robbo Whelan and Wheats, I think we know what we will get from them either way, along with some of our older players there should be a plan to retire them starting this year. Then it comes down to which ones show more leadership to the younger players in their development, these last few gmaes might change the mind of the list managers but I suspect (or hope) that they already have a plan in mind. Buckley: is he still injured? Is he about to come back? I hope so. Bail: well I havn't seen much of him, both the Casey games I went to he wasn't playing.. I don't think his form has warranted selection, even in the context of the thread. But he's new so i'm happy to hokd my breath until next year. I would also throw in Bell and Bartram for consideration.
  5. I can see more value in putting Bazza in a boxnig ring with Watts for the summer than having him play.
  6. I would love that job.
  7. Really? I know he said he didn't follow a team, which I never believe. Surely everyone in Melbourne who has anything to do with footy has at least a slight preference. I'm sure someone gets into their ear before they get drafted and tells them to play the "I don't support one particular club" card.
  8. Big guys take time, I would take him, I wouldn't want to put up much for him but I reckon we could find a spot.
  9. Tough to see how he could get back quickly, he'll need some time at Casey. Is worth the wait I think.
  10. I would hate to be an opposition defender when Col is streaming towards the 60m line, do you run back to defend the goal or stay on your man? Quite a weapon.
  11. I can see your point now, I don't really agree with some of the ratings of the players but I can see the point. The original post just smacked of everything I dislike about this forum, whether intended or not. There are enough 'clever' posters on this forum who post in this way regularly and I am happy to ignore them. I just wanted to make it known that I didn't take the post seriously, I probably should have just ignored this one as well but it was a slow day at work.
  12. I think the problem in that case was that holding onto White and Yze meant we lost a lot of experienced players in a short period of time. Robbo, might be held onto because there are not many players to lose at the end of next year, and therefore holding onto him won't cause any major disruption. I have no doubt we are more likely to win games if we hold on to him next year. Ultimately I would probably rather give a Newton/Hughes and suffer the pain next year than drop one of them and enjoy one last year of Robbo.
  13. Good work HT. Would like to see thins kind of thing more, its just a shame that inserting tables and similarly graphs/charts is quite difficult, sometimes impossible. I tried a while back to graph a few stats and post them but couldn't figure out a way to get the image posted. Might just be me but I can never get the attachment thing to work.
  14. I think for Dunn it is as much a state of mind as it is his natural ability. At VFL level he runs and attacks like he believes he is the best player on the ground. At AFL level he plays like he doesn't want to be the one to stuff it up. Bailey needs to give him the rest of the season and if his return is poor then get rid of him. The worst result is to have him play 1-2 games, get dropped, dominate at VFL level again and then leave the list managers wondering if he is worth persisting with.
  15. He is a small guy, has been starved of opportunity but I just can't see how he will lock down any partiular position.
  16. I thought PJ was great in the ruck and covered plenty of ground to link up and take contested marks. A few of his possessions were just terrible though, including a couple where he stuffed up a bounce right in front of the crowd, that seems to stick in my mind more than anything else he did all day. Dissapointed Jordie didn't get a bit more of the ball, there were a few possessions there that just looked great. He has good pace and foot skills. Cheney very strong, has a good set of hands on him, he hits a marking contest with impeccable timing. Newton, is working very hard on his second efforts, still can't kick. Bartram, worked hard all day, let himself down with his disposal at times. Dunn was BoG for me, though I do admit I lost interest after a while so there may have been others that performed better. Can't remember seeing Bell, Whelan or Valenti a lot, but then I did tend to float towards the casey forward line more often than not.
  17. I like your thinking number 2. I can't say that I would be particularly excited about picking up said players, but I do think a more mature player in whatever position is worth a look. And by more mature I mean 26 max. I would even consider trading away a pick (perhaps even our second pick) if the right player was interested, would have to be a fair gun though.
  18. Or Wirra's hip. The important thing is that he gave himself, with his own limitations in mind the best chance of getting the ball because he only had eyes for the ball. Was it a Bruce kick? I thought it was Rivers, but that was from memory. Probably better if it was Bruce, we don't need that kind of thing seeping into the rest of our list.
  19. Which is why the thread shouldn't be taken seriously. If the intention is to take a swipe at PJ's ability or prospects as a listed player then say so, it is quite simple really. If you want your own thread come up with something new instead of recycling other PJ bashing threads.
  20. Loved that commanding bump as he ran out of the 50.
  21. Highlight: Chip and Ricky after their second win for the season somehow thinking that they deserved to park in the closest car space to the gate, only to discover that that "car space" was in fact a ditch, and that commodores do not make good 4WDs.
  22. Agreed, the thread cannot be taken seriously when he isn't mentioned. And considering Jamar was as bad if not worse at the same time in his career, and yet now he is the main part of the 'resolved' solution along with a player who has played a few below average games. Big guys take time, while I am losing patience with PJ he is at least worth mentioning when talking about our ruck stocks.

  24. It is good he is remaining president, if he was removing himself completely it would probably mean a far more serious illness. Geez I hope he's okay.
  25. Speculation on SEN is that it is a temporary step down for the recovery period, may only be for 6 weeks or so.
