DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 5

Terrible performance granted, but I think the state of Essendon's team has been overplayed. Kelly, Stokes and Crowley would be welcomed and playing for other clubs if it made sense for other clubs to have them on reduced size lists at their respective ages. Looking at their team, there aren't that many absolute duds listed. Their problem will be when they have injuries but at the moment I don't think they set up as putridly as many seem to think.
-
You are right but it seems Vince is going to be more involved off half-back and I just think going into round 1 he is an awful long way off playing and would be in the mid-30s on the list of players in line for a round 1 game. Obviously that can change quickly and not writing him off as a footballer. Just think the club will play a lot of players ahead of him in the short-term on the evidence of his two NAB games and that they didn't play him NAB3. Don't think Redleg will be fazed by some discussion about his opinion - he's a Demonland warrior and comments were not in any way intended to be an attack in any case.
-
No chance. Was dropped for NAB 3 and anonymous in the first two NAB games. No chance they take a kid whose hardly played any football and not play him for two weeks and then play him in what's effectively a huge game off the back of no form. Seems nonsensical. Would reckon he's further off a game than he was at the end of last year.

Saturday Talking Point: Game Day 27/2/16

Only one Melbourne recruiter had Wines in its top 6 after the National Championships, he wasn't that highly rated. Toumpas and Kennedy were rated ahead by most of the staff. -

They are just in numerical order. Take no notice - Jetta and Harmes will be starting on the ground for sure. -

Cox and Cotte are very good TAC Cup signings, will play some good senior VFL footy.
-
Mitchell Cox will be handy played for Vic Country in the championships as an inside ball winner, did some good things in traffic and should be a handy VFL player at least. Cotte has played some good VFL footy already for Box Hill has a touch of class, mustn't get it enough.

Player management is where they'd be getting in most of it from - they leak like a rusty sieve
-
Neeld overruled Prendergast and took James Sellar over Nick O'Brien

100% guarantee he was very much in the frame for that pick. Quayle is correct.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
IvanBartul13 replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Only one Melbourne recruiter had Wines in their Top five post under 18 championships and leading into the draft. Toumpas, Plowman and Kennedy were the 'liked players'. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
IvanBartul13 replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, and people should also remember that Ben Kennedy would have been taken by Melbourne at Pick 4 if Toumpas was gone, so the club is adding a player it clearly rates very highly and probably now moreso than Toumpas. -

And then do you think of Hogan and T.Mac and want to give him a big hug. -

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 19
IvanBartul13 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Jack Viney - In a game where Vince and N.Jones were by and large invisible, he was the heartbeat of the side in what us in terms of guts and determination an elite effort. 5. Jesse Hogan - Immense up forward 4. Chris Dawes - great game and execution of the role of the second string forward 3. Dom Tyson - a return to something near best form 2. Jeremy Howe - very tough beyond the top four but thought he played a sound game and took some terrific clutch defensive marks that were a big part of the comeback. 1. Daniel Cross - -
2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
IvanBartul13 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah but they still have to match the picks, if clubs bid pick 5 for hopper, pick 8 for kennedy pick 20 for flynn pick 22 for cornell and 25 for Himmelberg, what do they do then? And then next year they will want to get Macreadie, Setterfield and Sproule onto their list and what if it is a strong draft then they have given away a useful pick. -
2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
IvanBartul13 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The only value they will get is the 25% concession. If clubs nominate pick 8 for Keays pick 14 for hipwood and pick 20 for Wagner, Brisbane will need to stump up pick 12 20 and 25 for those kids, its not that much of a rort. GWS have at least 5 academy kids they will want to draft next year too so they cant have them all and they will pay close to market for them anyway. -
Not sure what makes you think he is inconsistent. In 75 games he has five games of less than 15 possessions and never had less than 10.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
IvanBartul13 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well they have to pay in close to market value in draft picks now so its going to be less unfair but it will be very interesting what these clubs do to get them all.
