Farewell Jesse Hogan
Threads get closed if theyâre spurious, damaging or otherwise against the rules. Thereâs nothing against the code of conduct in this thread. People have the right to share their ideas, even if the rest of us think they are completely inane and illogical.

Sam Weideman
Who is putting them on a pedestal? Some players just have a talent for clean interviews. Weideman is obviously one - you only had to listen to his draft interview when Oliver was interviewed at the same time; the difference was stark. Tom McDonald is another I enjoy, as is Jordan Lewis. Funnily enough, these are the players that the club wheels out when the media monster needs to be fed. I find both our skippers to be boring and rambly to listen to, but that doesnât in any way diminish my appreciation for them as players. Itâs just a skill you need to have some of around the club, and itâs a nice discovery when a young player shows it. Nobody treats it like the most important aspect.

Jimmy Toumpas
I admire the tenacity of anyone who is still maintaining the rage over Toumpas. That era of lurching from one disaster to the next just feels like a dim memory that is on the brink of flaming out to me. As for Jimmy, I feel sad for him. He was a big hearted kid who had a passion for footy. After seeing Scully look like heâd been sentenced to the electric chair on draft night, Toumpasâ beaming grin was infectious. I hope life after footy is less confidence battering than his career was.

Three fresh young faces ready to walk out with middle fingers in the air in 2-4 years time. Good luck with that, Crows.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Q1: based on history of genuine AFL quality forwards involved in trades Q2: Bizarre question with no relevance to the conversation. I have already said, in every one of my posts, that Iâm NOT talking about a walkout scenario or any other scenario where retaining him is not an option. Q3: Nope, human being. You? Q4: Strawman question, which doesnât deserve an answer but Iâll give one anyway. Obviously I am not prescient to all future offers, but my imagination canât stretch to one that I see as being both realistic and worth the trouble. Seeing as you still havenât put one up when asked, I take that to mean you canât either.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
What better outcome? My assertion is that thereâs no sensible scenario where you would trade out Hogan other than a walkout (in which you have no choice). If you want to refute it, you have to put up something concrete.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If you trade Hogan for another forward, all you have benefited is the incremental difference between Hogan and that forward. Iâd be very surprised if there was a forward out there that made the team disruption and brand damage worthwhile. Itâs not semantics, itâs part of establishing whether or not there is actually a sensible scenario in which youâd trade Hogan other than if he walked out. Iâm arguing that there isnât one.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If a better one was available it would only be for the same reason Hogan would be available: because theyâve asked to leave. In that case if we had convinced this hypothetical elite forward to leave their existing club and come to us, we would have the higher negotiating position and could bring them here without losing Hogan. I note we did not lose any key position defenders in our acquisition of Jake Lever.

Played all 22 games
Jones, Harmes, Gawn, Oliver, Oscar McDonald,, Neal-Bullen, Jetta. Was going to do a nice post about it with a bit of a summary of their season highlights after finals, but youâve stolen my thunder now ?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Unless Hogan asks to go, he wonât be traded. You can blow on about professional club and every player has a price and improve the list and blah blah blah, but at the end if the day, no club willingly parts with a player of his calibre.

Comments from the Rooty Hill End (GWS fan forum)
As opposed to the clubs steeped in rich history like the âWest Coast Eaglesâ or the âAdelaide Crowsâ. Or the old and super-relevant St Kilda or North Melbourne. All the clubs were manufactured at some point. I honestly donât see why GWS or GC are any more offensive than any of the other clubs that were invented from thin air, or are old but have stuff all supporters.

Changes v Geelong - Elimination Final
If the casualty ward doesnât create enough spots for the players we want in, I reckon Spargo goes out before JKH. Goodwin indicated Tyson was in for surgery on the fractured arm tonight and it was a 2-3 week injury, so heâs definitely out. Viney should be an adequate replacement youâd think ? He also said Kent wasnât as bad as they first thought, but youâd think heâs no chance with that shoulder. Hannan should be ready by the sounds of it, so itâs an obvious like for like and Hannan was good last week. Hunt and Smith are great to have up our sleeve and youâd think if we get beyond the first week, weâll need to call on one at some point. Not against Geelong though. Out: Tyson, Kent In: Viney, Hannan

Petracca in a rut?
If your post on Frost was a cut shot to the boundary, youâve just smashed this one down gullyâs throat. Iâm not sure what standard you are measuring Petracca against but he is travelling just fine.

Injury List - Season 2018
Hunt and Smith should both be available, but itâs pretty hard to see where they fit. Viney is apparently a lock.

Slamming Sam Frost
Hardly any Frostyisms in the last few weeks. Very pleasing. How about him charging off half back and putting it down TMacâs throat? I still suspect that there will be moments where heâll stuff up and it will be costly, but Iâm accepting that thatâs the player we understand we are selecting and wonât bag him when it happens. Really happy with his present form. For his faults, the bloke has serious wheels.

Post Match Discussion - Round 23
JKH was excellent. Nothing flash but consistently applied pressure and contests. Flew once against the flight to save a certain GWS mark on the lead. The less said about the âsupportersâ who bagged him pre-game the better. Super impressed Weid as well. So proud to have always backed him - faith is being repaid. It was the midfield that got it done for us though. The Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw, Harmes combo has become the stuff of dreams. Adding Viney in there makes it sound frightful.
