Thanks Cameron Pedersen
He’s been a good servant of the club over the years, and developed himself in to a handy player after an ordinary start under Neeld. He’s probably the type of player that perpetually needed a fire under him to keep him performing, but that’s okay, we’re all different. He was the ultimate spare parts player and would jokingly make reference to it whenever interviewed. His best effort was no doubt in 2017 when he single-handly had to carry us in the ruck when Max was injured through the middle of the season. This was a Herculean effort that shouldn’t be understated. He comes across as a team man - always seemed happy to share in others achievements that didn’t involve him, like grinning from ear to ear in the rooms after a win he didn’t play in, or his embrace of Harrison Petty in the video the club put after the Petty was told of his debut. In the latter case, Petty’s selection was ahead of Pedersen himself. Thanks for your services Cam and all the best.

Jayden Hunt
He's had the season from hell with his injuries and form, but I hope he backs himself in to stay and work his way back in to the side. He's got the attribute set to get back there. As Frost and Weideman have both alluded to in recent interviews, sometimes you just have to put head down, bum up, work hard in the VFL and wait for your time to come. As we've seen, injuries and stuff to senior players happen - if Hunt does that, he'll make it back. I'd be disappointed if he cracked the sads and asked for a trade, but I don't think he will.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
I wouldn’t say no if he wants to come - it’s looking very likely at this stage that we won’t have a ruck on the list other than Max and whatever kid we might draft. It’s just the question of why the f he would want to come that has me stumped.

Why would he want to come and play second fiddle to the AA ruckman? You’d think we would be the last place a ruckman desperate to establish himself would choose.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
We are not going to make Hogan a defender to fit Weideman in the forward line. That’s honestly crazy talk. Versatile players usually end up that way because they’re forced to fill a hole, not because they’ve been squeezed out of their best role. We find a way to make three talls work. It’s the only way we don’t eventually lose one. Maybe we should rename this the Trade WEIDEMAN thread.

Only one of 6 people in history to have won a B&F at two VFL/AFL clubs apparently, according to the article on MFC website.

Wasn’t here at our lowest ebb and won’t be here when we peak, but was here to help us build the bridge in between, every step of the way. Roos goes out of his way to give credit to Vince for his role in turning the ship around. I’ve loved his time here, particularly his tough brand, long kicking and high standards. I’m sad he has to go without playing any finals for the MFC, but the time is clearly right. I’m thrilled he could limp over the 100 game mark - life membership is a fitting capstone to his time here. All the best Bernie.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Especially if you’re the most junior, and coincidentally out of contract player and you’re well aware of your current place in the pecking order. I’ve seen both Weideman and Frost give interviews where they’ve said, to paraphrase, it’s a real shame x senior player went down, but thank f he did because otherwise I’d have to settle for a VFL flag tilt. I doubt either player would be that interested in the prospect of doing that next year when they’ve now demonstrated they can do it at the top.

Threads get closed if they’re spurious, damaging or otherwise against the rules. There’s nothing against the code of conduct in this thread. People have the right to share their ideas, even if the rest of us think they are completely inane and illogical.

Sam Weideman
Who is putting them on a pedestal? Some players just have a talent for clean interviews. Weideman is obviously one - you only had to listen to his draft interview when Oliver was interviewed at the same time; the difference was stark. Tom McDonald is another I enjoy, as is Jordan Lewis. Funnily enough, these are the players that the club wheels out when the media monster needs to be fed. I find both our skippers to be boring and rambly to listen to, but that doesn’t in any way diminish my appreciation for them as players. It’s just a skill you need to have some of around the club, and it’s a nice discovery when a young player shows it. Nobody treats it like the most important aspect.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Q1: based on history of genuine AFL quality forwards involved in trades Q2: Bizarre question with no relevance to the conversation. I have already said, in every one of my posts, that I’m NOT talking about a walkout scenario or any other scenario where retaining him is not an option. Q3: Nope, human being. You? Q4: Strawman question, which doesn’t deserve an answer but I’ll give one anyway. Obviously I am not prescient to all future offers, but my imagination can’t stretch to one that I see as being both realistic and worth the trouble. Seeing as you still haven’t put one up when asked, I take that to mean you can’t either.

What better outcome? My assertion is that there’s no sensible scenario where you would trade out Hogan other than a walkout (in which you have no choice). If you want to refute it, you have to put up something concrete.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
If you trade Hogan for another forward, all you have benefited is the incremental difference between Hogan and that forward. I’d be very surprised if there was a forward out there that made the team disruption and brand damage worthwhile. It’s not semantics, it’s part of establishing whether or not there is actually a sensible scenario in which you’d trade Hogan other than if he walked out. I’m arguing that there isn’t one.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If a better one was available it would only be for the same reason Hogan would be available: because they’ve asked to leave. In that case if we had convinced this hypothetical elite forward to leave their existing club and come to us, we would have the higher negotiating position and could bring them here without losing Hogan. I note we did not lose any key position defenders in our acquisition of Jake Lever.
