Tim Smith - Virtual Player?
Disappointed they didn’t pick [rookie listed VFL player], who is obviously vastly better than [other rookie listed VFL player]. Fair dinkum.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Demonland becoming collectively homocidal/suicidal is usually a sure sign we’ll pluck a miracle out of nowhere. That’s about all I’ve got to cling to at the moment because all signs point to this being really bad.

Post Game: Rd 5 v St. Kilda
Is Jetta right? He got up a couple of times holding the knee that was strapped up and looked very ginger. Looks a long way off fit to me.

Post Game: Rd 5 v St. Kilda
Oddly enough, those rambling posts that always make out that the club is rotten to the core always make me feel a little bit better. I would hate to be so damaged that every time we went off track that it felt like it was just part of some huge, insurmountable problem spanning decades. It’s not. If it was, I’d probably have given up long ago. It’s just this year’s problem.

Post Game: Rd 5 v St. Kilda
He kicked it straight over the goal umpire’s hat about 45 seconds after the miss.

Post Game: Rd 5 v St. Kilda
I know, but honestly. He was one player who had a bloody go today and it frustrates me when there’s about 15 targets well worth potting that people just resort to their usual go-tos whether it’s warranted or not.

Fair suck of the sav. Petracca close to the 6 DL POTY votes IMO, if I could be bothered voting.

Post Game: Rd 5 v St. Kilda
How can you possibly pinpoint which coach is directly responsible for this problem from the outside?

Post Game: Rd 5 v St. Kilda
Oh man. Feels like the bad old days where you just wonder where the improvement is going to come from. It’s been the same story every week really - win the ball and kick it to a forward line that is outnumbered, talls don’t mark it, smalls don’t crumb it and sweet nobody puts any pressure between there and the opposition goals.

Hardly.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs St Kilda
Membrey is a good player. Edit: then again, so was Kent Kingsley in his prime.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs St Kilda
This is the Essendon game all over again. Completely dominating the ball but slaughtering it going forward and giving away easy goals on the defensive side. I am tearing my hair out here. The good news is that we’re dominating in the ruck still. It could be we hit another gear in the second half ala the Sydney game. We can only hope.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs St Kilda
I just took Demonland at his word. Seems like an honorable chap who wouldn’t lie or make a mistake ?

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs St Kilda
Weird, surely one would carry over? What happens if someone does a hammy in the warmup?

Future Father-Sons/Daughters
Travis Johnstone’s son is named Tigga? That is excellent. Next you’ll be telling me David Schwarz has named his son Ox.

Sam Weideman + contract
I dunno - do guys who are pre-peak with (say) 500k on the table ever really go “pff, I’m worth 550-600 easy, I’m outta here”? Young players leave if they’re pissed off or get a massively better offer. The club rates Weideman, so I can’t see any realistic scenario where he doesn’t sign on.

Worried
His career tally against us is 19.9, with the best scores being 5.1 and 4.2, both in 2016, and another 4.2 in 2018. I looked all this up with the expectation of proving you wrong, but it seems you’re right. His goals per game against any club is highest against us, and he’s kicked 4 or more goals in 3 of the 7 times he’s played us in his career, and has never not kicked one against us. Damn. I disagree about his overall accuracy in front of goals though. His career tally is 131.71 including 44.18 is 2016 and 38.14 in 2017. He had a run last year where he kicked 6.15 including one game of 1.5, but across his career this is an outlier. He’s usually a pretty reliable shot on goal.

POST GAME: Rd 04 vs Sydney
I was thinking the same thing re: Salem this afternoon. Definitely just quietly going about his business. He doesn’t have any flash tricks in his book that get players noticed, but he plays a tough brand, gets plenty of it and rarely wastes a kick. He’s had a really pleasing start to the season.

Why would our captains need a rest 4 games in to the season?

Worried
Doesn’t matter how fast they are if we’re in control of the ball. We can beat them. Not saying we will, just that we can.
