  1. I like the sound of the game. Just feels weird watching it in silence. If you could have the sound of the crowd, and the footy hitting the boots, and bodies hitting each other, and the players calling out to each other, without these imbeciles yabbering over the top of it, that would be perfect for me. Watching the TV with the radio on doesn’t work for me. They’re always out of sync and it drives me spare.
  2. I have to wait until Monday?! This playing on a Thursday thing sucks! At least I know it’s coming through.
  3. Do we no longer get an “all the goals” compilation, brought to us by Haymes Paint? I will be sad if that’s no longer a thing, I loved looking out for it the day after a win. I don’t even mind if someone other than Haymes Paint brings it to us.
  4. One of the things I like about the likes of Davis and Matthew Pavlich is that as well as being insightful, they are softly spoken. That means even if their message starts getting boring, you can just mentally tune them out. No such luck with Cameron Ling shouting his inane comments in to the mic.
  5. I’d say get rid of him and replace him with someone fresh, but I’m afraid “someone fresh” would be another moronic oaf, fresh out of the boys club, with no experience or even a basic grasp of the English language. That seems to be the hiring criteria for both the major broadcasters. I reckon our sport has a big problem with the quality of its commentators.
  6. Exactly.
  7. To be honest I prefer Roaming Brian, where he is intentionally being a tool for a bit of light hearted entertainment, to Commentary Brian, where his toolery interferes with the actual call.
  8. Steve, I know I should know better than to start an argument I don’t really have the energy to finish, but since you decided to make another site-wide snipe, I will anyway. You see yourself as a realist amongst dreamers, however to many you present yourself as rigid and stubborn. Everything you see confirms you own view, and you just toss out/disregard anything that might not. You’d be one of the best posters on Demonland if you opened your mind a bit and tried viewing the world through the lense of others, rather than assuming everyone else is stupid. It’s a handy skill in life in general in actual fact.
  9. I believe what he actually said was that Melbourne have discovered “how hard they have to re-work”. It’s probably a good point but gee, he really is a dribbling oaf.
  10. Out: OMac, Spargo In: Lewis, Jetta (Lockhart if Jetta isn’t fit) Assume OMac is out with concussion - he had a team low TOG when usually full backs would spend nearly the entire game on the ground. I’d probably drop him regardless, but it raises a team balance question. I’m making a big assumption Hore can step up and play KPD, but I’m far from convinced. Spargo made up numbers and isn’t looking like an AFL player to me at present. It’s a no-brainer for me if Jetta gets up. If Jetta doesn’t get up then I’d pick Lockhart instead, but that’s a much more borderline decision that I’d happily go one way or the other on.
  11. I assume Josh’s “lack of awareness” was the hospital handpass he received and was flattened by Buddy the instant he laid a finger on the ball? Hopefully you’re not not using one single isolated incident, that wasn’t really an incident, and applying it to a player as a whole of quarter issue, because I didn’t see any others.
  12. I know this is a stupid comparison, but it reminds me back to a quote from Jake Spencer when he was drafted that he chose footy over basketball because he loves hurting people. Preuss must be the same, but also good at football.
  13. I didn’t have many angry moments at all personally. Only one I can remember was the Heeney mark in their forward pocket that two of our defenders stood and watched him take.
  14. I’m reserving judgement on Preuss the forward. One goal was plucked out of his arse on the boundary from the ruck, the other a long kick that a competent defence would have touched. Don’t get me wrong, quite happy to take two goals and enjoyed his physical play, just not quite ready to crow yet.
  15. Prior to about the two Jones goals in the second term, it all looked as leaky and off the mark as it had previously. We were also behind on contested possessions at half time. The second half was unrecognisable from anything we’ve seen this year to date.
  16. The teammate to his right was Charlie Spargo. Probably didn’t see the point in putting his arm around fresh air.
  17. Loved seeing the Wagner brothers able to share it together. Without meaning to be disparaging, they’re both fringe players and you wouldn’t expect that they’ll get to play a huge amount together over time. Must be such a great feeling. Thought they both play well for a second week in a row too.
  18. That’s a price I’m willing to pay.
  19. It’s the HTFU herbs that what make this stuff work.
  20. Been sick all week and seriously doubtful my body is up to the stress and anxiety footy causes it. I suppose I’m about to find out!
  21. And others might hold off on the declarations of career ending concussions for that very reason - that was my smarmily sarcastic point.
  22. I assume Kade Kolodjashnij’s career is over, just like Angus Brayshaw’s was.
  23. I ignore the match day threads for the MFC games. I might post the odd thing in the half time break to pass the time and soothe my anxiety that makes the break feel like it goes for 6 hours, but other than that I can’t bear the over the top moaning and player bagging that fills the threads. When we’re playing poorly I generate more than enough anger and frustration of my own without needing to feed off others. Plus I prefer to actually focus on the game, not my phone. But yeah, was hoping for a neat summary of the Casey game from someone not over the top. If you know what page it’s on that’d be great, I read page 7-10 and didn’t find one.
  24. If anyone thinks this is an issue, have a read of his response to Lyon. It’s exactly what others have been saying: he didn’t understand the required standard, he saw how behind he was and worked his arse off to catch up (and probably overdid it, ergo the first injury), and knows better for next year. With an “I didn’t see Garry at training much”, which gave me a chuckle. Like I said in another thread, if he turns up out of condition next pre-season it’s a different issue. For now, cut the guy some damn slack and stop looking for reasons to be upset. There’s enough actual reasons without inventing them.
