  1. Yup. Do we know the recovery time for TMac? Obviously no more matches this year, but how will his pre-season be impacted?
  2. Hahahahahaha. It’s that or cry. How good has 2019 been?
  3. It’s probably more just maturity and accumulation of hard work - I doubt North had low fitness expectations given they were top 8 regulars for a lot of years. He’s probably a really good example of needing to wait a long time for big players to reach the level. It’s definitely great to watch him progress though.
  4. You almost could have scripted it. TMac finally gets going in round 16, kicks 6 goals and done a knee. You can only laugh really. Onya 2019, you’ve been awesome.
  5. Thought it was good to see Preuss play a good game. It’s easy to take for granted how spoilt we are with Gawn’s elite fitness; Preuss was dead on his feet in the last quarter, obviously not helped by a lack of rotations. He’s got a long way to go to reach that level, but he’s got the best role model in the business, so hopefully Max takes him on that journey. I thought Goodwin’s comments post-match were interesting. I’m paraphrasing, but it seemed they’ve kept him in the VFL so his ruck craft development isn’t hindered or delayed by playing second fiddle to Gawn in the seniors. He also said “he hasn’t played much footy” or words to that effect, meaning they’re treating him like a developing young player rather than through the mature player lense we have been. Goodwin said the long term vision is still to have both players in the side. I reckon the Preuss fans on Demonland can take a lot of heart from these comments - the coach is still a fan despite the low number of games this year.
  6. The odd splattered disposal is a feature of Hunt’s game in general unfortunately, particularly by hand. I place him in a similar category to Frost - plays an exciting style of game and does a lot right, but always a chance to do a few things in a game that make your eyes water. Surprised at the negativity on Jones’ game. I thought he had a pretty tidy game, especially considering he was on for the entire second half without break. Where and when were these terrible mistakes?
  7. Staggering response on here as always. We had one on the bench in the last quarter, with the casualty list including TMac who had absolutely slayed them before the injury. It still amazes me that people don’t adjust their expectations despite the glaring evidence in front of them. As soon as I learned TMac was out, I knew it would be game on. But nah, everyone go on expecting greatness from an already struggling team now dead on their feet. I thought it was a really enjoyable gritty win. Glad there’s a few on here who agree.
  8. What? Of course you can be selective. There are degrees of indescretion and culpability in any offence. I’m also suggesting that it wasn’t intended as a spray and just escalated to that point because of the behaviour of the recipient. I assume you didn’t read past my first paragraph.
  9. Perhaps May did receive some honest feedback from his teammates about that poor choice, and there was no fallout because he copped it and moved on. It’s not about giving a player a spray every time they make an error and that’s not what anyone is suggesting. That is obviously not going to be good for anyone’s confidence. Sometimes though if a player has broken a cardinal rule, they need reminding of it. Paul Roos reminded Lynden Dunn of one by never picking him ever again. Now I didn’t hear the interview myself but Redleg said Frost said himself that he overreacted. If we take that comment on face value, isn’t it possible that it just started out as a bit of tough love that only escalated when Frosty got on the defensive and bit back? Who can honestly say that they’ve never reacted negatively and excessively when given hard to hear feedback while emotions are high? I can fully appreciate how a situation like that can explode even though both parties have good and honest intentions. I think your criticism of May and your apparent need to throw every mistake he makes back in his face in retaliation are totally unfair.
  10. I am thoroughly bewildered by the outrage about OMac being named an emergency. It’s not often these days that I see something on these forums that I haven’t seen before, but this one is definitely new.
  11. Final change will just be Hibberd for Wagner. Feels very weird not having to replace an injured player!
  12. Weird that Neitz/Yze is #1, then in the top 5 are also White/Yze and White/Robertson, but the Neitz/White combo isn’t up there. Struggling to get my head around that. Assume it’s buried in the ... part of the list, in which case it doesn’t really give you much indication about where TMac/Jones actually rank in the list.
  13. Goodwin is either a liar or incompetent according to Mats.
  14. Mate.
  15. It’s a ripping pic - pun not intended! Never seen a player so gleeful while in a fracas! I reckon Jack’s close to the toughest player I’ve seen. Proper tough, not deck someone behind play, or grow a mullet and pinch your opponent until their arm gets a bruise tough. He’s at his best when he’s dealing and receiving hurt in equal measure. Just love it.
  16. I think it’s just as important to give Hibberd, Lever and co maximum time to gel - they’re a bigger factor than Petty next year IMO. Also, there’s that assumption again that selecting them this week implies they’re not fully recovered. My read was that leaving them out this week was already conservative as it was.
  17. If we’re at the threshold (I haven’t checked), we just have to use a first round pick. Doesn’t have to be the one we started with.
  18. Courtesy of the MFC facebook page:
  19. It would make them feel sick too, because it would be a dumb idea. Don’t worry about it.
  20. Nope. Key defender who has shown he can play at AFL level. In a form and probably mental trough, but will play senior football again.
  21. OP is a young fella who can’t remember what happened last time, I’m guessing. Park players who won’t be here next year (as we have with Lewis) so the work done this year is all relevant to next year, but beyond that, go as hard as possible. I’d love to see us come storming home.
  22. In: Lever, Hibberd Out: Petty, Wagner I’m not in favour of rushing anyone but I am in favour of selecting obvious best 22 players if they are fit. Selecting them doesn’t automatically imply they are being rushed in as some in this thread have indicated.
  23. The label Frost-ball and its subsequent definition are just classic. It’s so true. Honestly, I’m still a coronary risk every time the ball is in his vicinity, but I love it when his complete unpredictability is working in our favour. It’s exciting to watch if nothing else.
