  1. I love it how the media feel it important to point out that he is a hairdresser every time they refer to him.
  2. Nooooooooooo, we don't call them the Four Horsemen. That name has history on this site.
  3. Had several goes at fixing this now and having difficulties. Sorry folks. Need more time.
  4. By pick 9 he'll be gone as, bro.
  5. Jetta won't play a game under Roos because he will be delisted before draft day this year. Bookmark it.
  6. Part of me is hoping we don't draft him, just to upset the few in this thread who are carrying on as if he's the second coming of Nathan.
  7. Haha, oh dear. He is honestly an embarrassment to this sport. As soon as word got out that Cross wouldn't get a new contract, every footy fan in the country saw that we'd be the best fit for him. Ah Damo.
  8. Saying "confirmed" with an unreferenced anecdote is not a confirmation. You know this.
  9. Agreed. And the guy is 28 - he's at an age not to be influenced, if he wants to find trouble he'll do it all on his own no matter who he lives with.
  10. Stu, I agree that Gawn is by far the better prospect long term, but last year he looked such a long way off being capable of running out a game that I just can't believe he'd be able to turn that around in a single pre-season. Gawn being completely and utterly dead on his feet was a big contributor to us nearly losing to Western Bulldogs in that game we won. Not his fault, just reality. Minson *slaughtered* us in that quarter when big Maxy had been pretty good until then. I'm also making the assumption that Jamar will struggle. If he finds any sort of form he'll push ahead of Spencer. I don't love Spencer by any means, I just think he's the Steven Bradbury style last man standing in our ruck division. I see him as the only ruckman with the fitness and strength to take on the work at present.
  11. If he isn't best 22 immediately then we've wasted our pick with the trade. Every single line-up listed in this thread so far has at least one NQR in the midfield still. Competition isn't tight at all. If he's even remotely any good he'll walk straight in to the side. And it wouldn't be a thread on Demonland without someone tossing in "he ain't the messiah".
  12. I explained my reasoning. Are you challenging it, or...?
  13. B: Garland, McDonald, Terlich HB: Grimes, Frawley, Toumpas C: Vince, Trengove, Tyson HF: Howe, Dawes, Watts F: Hogan, Clark, Kent R: Spencer, Jones, Viney IN: Michie, M.Jones, McKenzie S: Evans Notes: * I've assumed Michie and Tyson to be best 22. Vince obviously is. * I consider Toumpas, Vince, Trengove, Tyson, N.Jones, Viney, Michie, M.Jones, McKenzie, Grimes, Howe and Watts to be our 'midfield' rotation. The latter three to spend less time in the middle than the others. Positions I've named these players in are indicative only. * I expect best mates Terlich and Clisby to be competing for the same position. I've got Terlich in this side due to his good year, and he gets a stack of the ball, but he needs to use it better and defend better if he's to hold his spot. Could have gone either way. * I have Spencer as first ruck. Gawn demonstrated this year that he's not ready for long stints in the ruck, Jamar hasn't played any meaningful footy in a while and I reckon he's cooked, and I don't want Clark in the ruck full time. Spencer gets the nod by process of elimination. I know many don't rate him, too bad so sad, he's the best we've got at the moment. This job is Gawn's for the taking. * Clark as 5 minutes a quarter ruck. Fitzpatrick to play this role if Clark ends up off the park again. If Clark plays but can't do this, I think we've got a balance problem. * Clark, Dawes, Hogan to rotate between CHF and FF as needed. I desperately hope the three of them work together - it's a top heavy forward line but if they can pull it off, it will be lethal. * I've excluded anyone we haven't drafted yet. McKenzie and Matt Jones are first to be dropped if we select best 22 midfielders in the draft/DFA. * Still had lots of not ideal players to choose from for the sub position. This exercise has shown me that we're not a complete side yet by a long way.
  14. You are being greedy. The only way to get another top 20 pick now is to give away players we would want to keep. The best we'll be able to do is upgrade our lower picks, but I can't see any great value in doing that. I expect the club to shut up shop for the third trade week.
  15. My reaction wasn't (intentionally) one of contempt, I just reckon you've taken too much risk and I think you'll lose. We've added a lot to our midfield, but I also haven't forgotten how bad it was to begin with and I'll be amazed if these three players alone - two of which are largely unproven, are the difference between "worst season since Fitzroy 1996" and top 8.
  16. Wasted your money on both. You're exactly the type of sucker these odds are designed for.
  17. More GWS jumpers sold than Melbourne (or WB/NM/PA etc)? Really?
  18. Wait, isn't Mitchy that guy we got from Freo? I'm so confused!
  19. Mahoney's comment was along the lines of being very pleased about replenishing our midfield while remaining in the top 10 in the draft. As Oucher said, that implies that they've got designs on a player or two in the draft. Furthermore, we're getting tight on list spots, and if we trade out 9 our first pick will be at 40. I expect a whole lot of sitting on our hands for the last week of trade week. Our job here is done.
  20. Hang on to it and draft a gun. It would be the cherry on top of a fantastic trade period. Definitely don't trade it for average players like you're proposing.
  21. Why are we acting all indignant about Hawthorn only acting in the interests of Hawthorn? All clubs argue the point that serves themselves, that's the nature of any heavily regulated business. I'd expect nothing less from the MFC if we were in the same boat.
  22. If we intend to take Cross and upgrade Clisby or Magner, then we need at least one more player to go. You would think that Jetta would have to be next cab off the rank. Our remaining trade bait does not look very 'appetizing' to me, I expect that Tapscott, Bail, Blease and Strauss will all be on the list next year.
  23. On a only-very-loosely-related note, I wonder where the OP (D26) has gone? He's spent the last 6 months being close to the site's most prolific poster, but has had no account activity at all since October 3. That includes logins, 'lurking' etc. Bizarre.
  24. Fat finger error I'm guessing.
