  1. I was making a light hearted joke about an ordinary* zero game player that was on our list a decade ago. I'm sorry if I offended you, it wasn't the intent. Typo away - though I am also a firm believer in proof reading one's post before posting it.*Edit: or perhaps he may have been perennially injured? Hard to recall now. Baghdad Bob may recall, I think he may have had some relationship with him at the time (player sponsor perhaps?).
  2. Anyone whose name is Ian but pronounces it "eye-an" has my vote.
  3. I'm pretty sure the 'like' system is responsible for the system falling over in the last few weeks. There's one particular database call (query) that just hammers our low-spec system. It's been confirmed as a bug in the version of our forum software and is fixed in the next version. Once I get around to upgrading the software (have been busy dealing with all the other crap), I'll turn it back on and keep an eye on things. For what it's worth, I miss it too.
  4. You may have noticed it's gone. I have some concerns over the way our database behaves when it's turned on so it's off until further notice.
  5. Nearly. Gone to Hawks at 38.
  6. Seems amazing to me that clubs get to their picks and still have to argue about who to take. You'd think that they'd be prepared with a complete wishlist and just cross players off as they go.
  7. Oh ffs, how much guff? It's going to take years to get to pick 9.
  8. Do we really have to wait until 7:40? My nerves for the site can't wait that long.
  9. Interesting that he's nominated financial terms. It either means he's already agreed to join someone, or he's not desperate to play and will only go (and therefore turn his life on its head, as presumably he is employed and so on) if it's worth his while. Nice pickup!
  10. Changed some stuff last night. Hopeful rather than confident. Trying not to think about it to be honest (And yes - I intend on being about at the time)
  11. If I remember correctly, before we poached him Burgs also had a pretty similar strike rate with phantom drafts, and for the same reason of just good journalism and use of contacts.
  12. Don't think we were devastated to lose Hannath particularly, either, from a purely football perspective.
  13. I think it's fair to say that this thread is both never going to be about Neville Jetta again, and is never going to cross the boundary back in to civility again, so I call time.
  14. In my case it's because I find it alarming that he is passing on opinions to players expressed online when players are told explicitly to avoid these places. Also, I find his attitude of "I talk the players and you don't, therefore you don't know anything" is irritating and deserves to be called upon.
  15. Wait, you told Dawes that people on Demonland were potting him? Oh dear. The more I read your posts the more I reckon you're borderline dangerous to this playing group. There's a good reason why the players are told to avoid these forums.
  16. People make claims about information all the time without giving any details about where it comes from. It's then up to the reader to decide how much weight to put on that post. Surely it's obvious why people can't say where they get their information from sometimes.
  17. It's because he thinks that because he attends training and chats to the players, he's one of the boys and knows all the issues going on at the club. In his mind, if he hadn't heard it, it mustn't have happened. I wouldn't normally like to criticise people who go out of their way to report on things (like training) that I have no access to, but the poster you're responding to is completely deluded about his place in the world.
  18. I wouldn't have thought I was saying anything particularly controversial there, given that he's been on the list for 5 years and never came close to cementing his place. I'm not being critical, I've already stated in this thread that I like the guy and his attitude for the game, I just don't agree with hanging on to NQRs forever. Spots on the list are valuable - even on the rookie list - and should be treated as such.
  19. I think it's somewhat wasteful to give the spot to a player who we're (I'm) already pretty convinced won't make it. But by the same token, due to the qualities he has, I wouldn't begrudge a player like Jetta the opportunity at one last ditch effort under a competent coach.
