    GAME DAY

So many skill errors, it drives me bananas. Same culprits time and again. Matt Jones cannot hit up a lead to save himself. Tapscott has poor skills. Terlich poor by foot. McDonald can't kick. We handball to stationary targets. So frustrating. Same problems every time.

    GAME DAY

Nothing new. Pedersen disgraceful, Tapscott a passenger, midfield not good enough. Just another week in paradise!
  4. I know a bit about this one... We didn't push him, but he did need to be pushed.... if you know what I mean. His knees are shagged, and he has known for some time that this is his last year. His personal circumstances meant he was hoping it wasn't his final year. The reality is that this one was handled right. Thankfully.
  5. I have defended him. He has lost me. Good bye. Culture cancer.
  6. Here's hoping that is what we are doing!
  7. We might yet Yarran in the Watts swap... then we have that crumber.
  8. I agree that our list is a far bigger issue than our coach. I said the same about Neeld, who was on a hiding to nothing. I just think that both Eade and Williams have as good a track record as Craig on development, but are better tactically. Personally, Williams is the way to for mine. All assuming no Roos or Clarkson of course!
  9. I don't quite remember it that way W_J.....!!
  10. I think Craig is a gem of a bloke and a great communicator. I don't think he should be our next coach because my belief is that there are better out there tactically. We could do a lot worse, but in my view we could do a bit better, too.
  11. I have to say, it's a hard gig for all concerned doing a FH dinner with the season we have had. Peter Jackson was blunt and articulate, and comes across as others have previously said as impressive and ruthless. He said something along the lines that we need to rebuild our brand. He made the comment that for too long, we have focused on logos and history as a way to build our brand, and the brand had to be built around nothing but winning games of football and being uncompromising in all decisions we make to ensure that we never compromise winning games of football. He said that we have rested on the laurels of the draft, and thought that early draft picks meant success, but we have to get far more ruthless about player development. I think the quote was that there are 3 key priorities at MFC: 1. Player Development, 2. Player Development, 3. Player Development. PJ also spoke about getting the fabric back into the club, and specifically mentioned Junior. So maybe he will come back! Here's hoping. My other observation is that compared to previous years, the players who are the leaders amongst the boys present as a very professional bunch of driven young men. I am very impressed by the calibre of person we have, having spoken for some time to Bail, Gawn, Frawley, Grimes, Dawes, N Jones and Howe. The final thing I would add is that looking at the donor list, we are very lucky that the board members who recently resigned have been extremely generous towards the club. They are not alone, but just given the stick they cop on here, I thought I should note it. Don McLardy accepted an award for his service, and he just clearly loves the club unconditionally and gives a lot of support. Karen Hayes was also recognised for an immense contribution.
  12. I think we are very lucky we are so bad at the same time we are needed by the AFL. If this was 20 years ago, the AFL would have helped us die. If this was 5 years ago, we would have been carved off to GWS/Tas/GC. The 18 team TV deal has saved us. Awful year in every way.
  13. I understand he admitted to some vanity drug on 1 - 3 occasions?
  14. If Rucci's story/version of the application of the WADA code is correct, then it would mean that Hird took banned substances. It appears undisputed that Hird took some substances that would be banned if players took them. If the rules are that it is equally banned for him (as Rucci says), the impact of that would have to be Hird's suspension, sacking and he would never be able to return in my mind. This would apply to any other coach who took such substances.
  15. Agree. There's nothing productive about it. But there's a lot of people here who like telling you what they always knew.... after it's happened! Monday experts.
  16. If you don't know where you've been, you don't know where you're going. It's not about living in the past. It's not even about copying the past. It's not about the need to forge a new future. It's about pride, heritage and ultimately, it's about who we are. We are the oldest organised sporting club in the world, and we don't even have our website telling people who we are, and where we come from.
  17. The oldest club in the world embarrassed by the newest. Not much to respect about the club now, so all we have to keep us proud of our club is our history. Go to the History tab on the Melbournefc website. Have a look at what it doesn't have. Not a paragraph about our heritage and history. Just a weird and out of context list that has Mitch Clisby on it. Says it all in my book.
  18. For all those who say we have improved under Craig - I have one thing to say.... 124 - 87.
  19. Any chance any of our turds could match up on Smith?
  20. We don't run and support. We don't help each other. We are a selfish, lazy bunch of unprofessional wannabes. I have it on authority after last week that straight after the game, in the changerooms, the players were discussing the full moon party they have booked in Thailand for the post-season. Pea hearts. Apparently Jackson heard them and ripped a few a new hole! Apologies to Nate Jones. The guy is a lion.
  21. I was at Dallas Brooks and I agree with you. But it is totally different. This is a promotional website because they want to be appointed. It's setup for them to promote their interest and test the waters. Dallas Brooks was a constitutional/member vote.
  22. You don't have to be sorry.... but you don't have to be correct either! Surely seeing how many of the members sign on to actively support him is a good way of knowing what support you have. If I am going for a job, I don't line up all the people who don't want me to get it - I try to get a critical mass of supporters. It's for others to knock me down (and I suspect this will occur!).
  23. But isn't their point that voting for them is having your say, rather than the appointment/anointing of alternatives without election? Look, I am not convinced that backwards is the new forward, but I also remain uninspired by the alternatives, and frankly concerned that people are going onto our Board that have not faced the members at any point.
