  1. I just want to sign off by saying that footy clubs are boys clubs - and I don't have a problem with having a joke or slacking off a bit as it is a high pressure, high preformance enviroment. But these aren't rumors about messing around being with the boys - these are rumors about total lack of commitment from the entire playing list. Who is responsible/?? Players/coaches/admin/?? I dont' know. I am not trying to turn this in to a pro Neeld thread - but all the great teams are known for their profesionalisum - I am way too young for it but what i've read Norm Smith was one of the first to introduce professionalism to football - that yeilded 6 cups in 10 years??? Became one of the greatest coaches ever.. must have been a fluke Who really cares if these rumors are true or not anyway... right? This club has become irealavent anyway... how many Vic clubs have we beaten in the past 4 - 5 years??? No one cares lets continue to be a laughing stock.... Professionalism whow cares.. as a matter of fact i might just sleep in tomorrow morning
  2. THis has nothing to do with Neeld apart from the fact that he is trying to implement a new culture at this club.... This thread is a discussion on people (MFC people) making statments about the playing lists commitment to their footy.
  3. All except Scully are on record speaking about MFC players lack of profesisionalism..... All of them are in the industry so yea I will listen to their comments and formulate an opinion on that.... You can choose to bury your head in the sand and call this a beat up - but maybe just maybe our ladder position is in indication of how poor of an attitude this list has and their attituted is a reflection of the output on the field. Kind of ironic they are near GWS and GC isn't it who have such low experience and condition for AFL standard.....You seem to be blody happy with the past few years efforts by the boys - we'll i am fuckin not....... There is an old saying hardnut - where the is smoke there is fire - make all the smart ass comments you want but our recently retired club champion hasn't stopped talking about the lack of professionalism at this club
  4. All jokes aside - and I am not having a crack at you Biffen but... How many dots do we have to connect??? I am not saying they do nothing at training but lets look at the facts Scully leaving - apart from the money - rumors he left for unprofessionalism Soft Football taunt from teh Carlton football club who play a soft brand of football themselves Inability to run out games of football and mental fade outs for qtr's and halfs of football for the last 2,3 plus years Brad Greens departing words on numerous occasions saying the boys need to look at their professionalism Neeld is on record saying the list is not fit Jim's book Tony Jones at a function I was at this week mocked Jack Watts for what was in Jim's book (these rumors) which Jack had no reply Take from that what you will but the more dots you connect the stench of lack of professionalism is rancid........ I could cop it if they were playing finals but the reality is these blokes aren't good enough and a lot of people on here question why...............
  5. Thanks NSC - with recent revelations from Jimmy's book about player professionalism this is an understatement from Greeny! All respect to Greeny though - club champion - Show these f@3&en slackers the door Neeldy
  6. I haven't had the chance to read Jimmy's book yet either - am looking forward to it F@%# discgrace this club........................
  7. I can't say I know much about it but I have heard the same thing recently. And with Brad Green talking about players needing to lift their professionalisum it really dosen't suprise me.... Dare I say it might explain why there are a few noses out of place at the club this year? Surely no one on here can defend the players if true....
  8. Spot on Diablo, the board and CEO will live or die by this decision. Nothing is giong to change it - and there is no solid evidence that it should be changed. They need to keep funding the FD to give them the resources to build a strong team, and the inhabitants are getting impatient!!
  9. Under appreciated post............. hahaha like it
  10. Another very good post in this thread - spot on KC I think you will find Neeld is after these sorts of players (per highlighted txt) - I believe this to be our new philosophy and the key characteristic to competitive hard edged teams I also believe at the moment the MFC lacks an abundance of these players
  11. Great post Striker - my views exactly Adelaide were an impressive unit yesterday
  12. I agree..... But you also forget it is easier to go to the draft (unless you are the MFC ffs even Richmond got cotchin) and draft and develop quality mids then it is to draft a quality Key forward. Again look at the MFC - how many good quality key forwards have we drafted lately??? And how long do they take to develop??? Get Cloke
  13. Excellent post!!
  14. Sadly I agree - I think we have been guilty of following the trends for a long time. However I do not get that feeling this time with Neeld. Most premiership teams do have the two big forwards..... see Pennant St dee's post
  15. You need to start finding some names to put to these statements - vague statements do not win an argument
  16. Sadly it looks like you just want to blame anyone but the playing group..... The Crowbots may have gotten stale under NC - but shite they were also good for a long period
  17. You make fair points ADC - In this istance I can't disagree too much with what you have said. I have stated in earlier posts (ages ago) that anyone involved in '186' should fall on their sword and leave the club - player or administrator. What has happened as i've seen it is that a new FD has stepped in headed by Sugar Healy and run by Mahoney, Viney, Neeld and Craig (new or newly promoted). They are slowly weeding out out the playing group - I have a feeling a few favourites will leave as they don't like the harder new regime (which explains why players have stalled or have improved - the ones who accept the new regiem will flourish, while the ones who do not will go - same as every club) As for the admin side it's hard to sum up who was right or wrong - I don't know if it is right some have kept their jobs - from an outsiders view I do not think the CEO or any other admin staff are not competent at their jobs - they are jus lucky to have kept them after 186
  18. Scrutiny has been put on the whole football department since '186'. I think the club has evaluated the situation and moved on.......... As for the players - I was at the ground that day - I wanted to punch everyone of them, I don't know if you were there but i have never been more upset in my life at a football game, and I will never forgive anyone involved ever for what happened that day.............. As for the rest of your statement - After last night's response I am not sure how you can continue with your fact-less statements. If the club was/is divided - why are these people not stepping up now???
  19. I disagree with this little bt - Pedantic I know but I think it is relevant to this debate There is a business element and the football department in every clube structure - The football department is run to win game/preimerships and the business side is to finance the clube (clearly) but the overall goal as you put it should be to win games/premierships. in this structure the board are accountable for all football club matters - and the CEO is employed to run the 'business'. I think in the past this position has been blurred to ir's role as we (MFC) has not had the resources to run an efficent structure. Sorry fan that may have been what you meant but I agree wholeheartedly with everything else you said - This club owes a lot to it's extremly loyal supporter base
  20. Very true old dee...... Lucky for us the finals are upon us and this one might slip under the radar?? I hope that is what the AFL are thinking hahaha But in all seriousness if they sanction us - surely they have to look at Carlton, Hawks, Pies, Dogs, Saints and anyone else who has received a priority pick? This is Watergate esc.... surely no one single entity is to blame and the AFL CEO will have to fall on his sword??
  21. Like WJ Surely the Dees have had their fair share of bad luck this year!!!
  22. Thinking about it now I will be very interested in the final result, just to see how competitive we are becoming. We haven't been flogged for a while (sydney off the top of my head was the last time) this game will either give the Neeld haters more bait or support the positive argument that we are getting better.. It could be an interesting game after all!!
  23. I am all for us winning the next 2 games there is no argument there..... But what your saying is that you'd rather win because you'd rather take Viney at 5 rather then 3 as you think that is where he should be rated in the draft??? I think you should leave that worry to the recruitement staff. Taking Viney at 3 4 or 5 dosen't make a difference IMO
  24. I can't say my information is 100% correct, it's only what i've heard from people in the industry (non MFC)....... What actually happens could be completely different - I'd be very happy if GC weren't intereted.... I do know for 100% that we won't let Viney go to another club
