  1. Gun Don't care what anyone says Bernie has been a great pick up for the MFC - silky skills makes good decisions and seems like a great leader Loving Bernies work - I hear he's a ripper bloke as well
  2. Really missing seeing the big 11 run around for the Dees Hope all is going well Mitch - You'll always be a loved Demon as well
  3. A few mistakes/bad decisions and some bad luck/umpiring cost us I really enjoyed the game and was bitterly disappointed with the loss. But I took away from the game still loving my club, optimistic about beating the Tigers and proud of the turnout of Dees and the passion at the grond Go you Demons
  4. AM late but big hats off to Jack Grimes - I have been pretty harsh on him lately but deserves a lot of credit after the weekends game, very happy to be proven wrong you'll keep if you keep playing gems like that... Good to see some younger blokes stand up - that's what excited me, we didn't rely on one or 2 blokes it was a team effort
  5. Hi camillo Firstly I want to say I think you're correct and apologies ad I didn't mean to offend you or anyone. As a non services person I do find this time of year awkward as it's hard not to be disrespectful I knowing how to pay respect (I went to the dawn service but also wanted to reflect more specific people) I've had family serve in Vietnam and in ww2 and have mates who have served in Afghanistan like a lot of us would, I simply want to pay my respect to all who have volunteered or were conscripted or fought that gave us the freedoms we enjoy today. Maybe this is wrong type of discussion and the wrong way to remember them, I admit I don't know where the line is. Since this is an mfc site and discussion I thought I'd relate it to the club and share some memories of brave mfc services men. I sincerely apologize to anyone I offended. Mods feel free to delete... Thank you

We should be extremly proud to have been represnted by great men and women on this list and throughout the past. I know the day is to represent all who have surved and to pay respect to those who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy today - But I do feel proud as a MFC supporter on this day A good day to reflect and never forget.....
  7. I know there are a couple of ANZAC day discussions at the moment surrounding our (the MFC) involvement and the game itself. But I wanted to quickly dedicate my gratitude to the men and women who serve or who have served in the armed forces and remember and celebrate the sacrifice the MFC and it's players have made over the years. I didn't know much about our B&F Award Winner trophy name sake and wanted to share a couple of quick videos There are many more and please share as well.... But I really think the MFC is under represented on the day by the AFL but most of all I think the sacrafice of these men and women in a time of great need should always be remember and honoured Lest we forget
  8. I am not actually arguing with you La Dee VC - all I am trying to say is that our back 6 as a general all have average to poor disposal. I was trying to say I've seen Terlich do some nice things but the majority sadly has been poor. I am not trying to rate players better or worse then Grimes I am just trying to argue that our back 6 as an offensive unit is poor and we don't have many options. Do we develop a back 6 or do we stay cometitive?? i think Roos is doing the right thing and staying competitive while young blokes gain experiance - Toumpas, Salem, Clisby and to a lesser extent Blease and Strauss who have to do the team things before getting in to the side... I am not trying to pick on Grimes per say - just wanting to discuss our abmysmal kick ins, decision making (we've all see the short kick turnovers in the back half) and ball use.... It won't change overnight and there other players who are worse offenders then Grimes but he is part of that back 6 unit and hence a target in my discussion... ANd i see our back 6 as a real weakness of the current team for ball use - defence has been good in the back half but attacking or ball use has been incredibly poor. Just my opinion Would love to see him gain some confidence and really take games on - but fact is he dosen't and isn't at the moment... All I am trying to say is if we are going to develop over competiveness I am not sure if Grimes would make the side.. again my opinion and a short sighted one as I hope he can kick on Back to round 5 changes - i don't forsee too many - Maybe Jamar or Clisby but I think Roos wants to keep the team competitive and will give blokes chances as long as the effort is there
  9. I hope he does and I agree with what you've said I accept the MFCs form hasn't been easy on Grimes's development what i disagree with is your last statement - Blokes like Toumpas and even Terlich have shown the ability to use the ball and take the game on under extreme pressure.... IMO Grimes hasn't But as I said - I agree that with better support Grimes will be better, and hopefully he can find some confidence, but if he can't improve I think he'll struggle to find a spot if we find players to fill those holes
  10. Fair call - i have been pretty harsh and I accept your comments All I wanted to say is that if we want to be a good side (aka Cats or Hawks) then Grimes may not cut it.... thats all I am saying not trying to get him delisted or anything just an opinion Grimes may improve with more confidence and tutoring under Roos - I really hope he does - but IMO atm not good enough and he's not alone at the MFC, I simply wanted to make comment that we need some good ball using smalls in the back 6 With - T Mac - Gorgeiou, Grimes, Terlich (frawley & Pedo) and I can't think of the others at the moment but none stand out as good ball users or even competent ball users for some of them - it's a real weakness in our side. As I've said above if we want to be a better side we need to improve this area... i accept it won't happen in rd 6 or overnight but it's a reality we shouldn't hide from PS - my query on grimes is he's a great leader (obviously being elected captian etc by the boys) but he has average ball use, and is subject to turn it over under pressure and is not a mid... I really think he's struggling to find a spot... hopefully as the year goes longer he gets some confidence but to be harsh on him IMO he is struggling
  11. Not that i feel I have to justify my opinion to anyone but thats how I see him and I've been watching him a while - I am commenting on a big hole in our side and unfortunetly G Train is in the sights Grimes plays like Nick Maxwell without the height - great on his own but under pressure he sucks. he's prone to turn it over and I actually cringe when he has the ball. I don't care if you disagree - yeh he's our co-captian and he's not up to AFL standard at this stage of his career. Im not saying he won't make or he won't ever get better and grow but I reckon, no actually I'm pretty confident he only gets a game due to our lack of depth and leadership - Probably a tremendous leader but a sub par player - aka nick Maxwell And [censored] yeh watch some replays when Grimes has the ball under pressure he's like a cat - dosen't take on the pressure and continaully turns the ball over PS - we have a lot of holes in our list still I am not solely picking on Grimes - just pointing out a major weakness in our side - Ball use in the back 6
  12. No doubt - agree with you there But it won't help is in rd 6 though
  13. Both done not a whole lot to date this season? C'mon mate said I was mucking around - I like Grimes but I reckon he's over rated - ok defender poor with the ball and a cat when it comes taking on pressure If we want to be a good side we need an upgrade and since Suckling/Birchall or Bartel/Enright aren't available i'll guess we'll have to choose from one of the 40 not already in the side
  14. I don't remember jetta doing much wrong - he didn't do much but I don't think he was beaten too often? Ball use was ok - anyone care to fill me in Just hatred or just shite?
  15. Haha true... but then Strauss is Grimes with better skills - technically an upgrade? Bit of mucking around but we need better ball users in the back 6 - our kick ins and movement out of the back half is disgusting
  16. Haha this is why I love Demonland - biggest over reaction i've seen in a while (week or 2 anyway) Blokes in the media and is trying to be impartial - got flogged for the Neeld appointment publically and we wonder why he seems to not care.... Melbourne are [censored] - they have been [censored] for a while and we still are in the bottom 4... Bagging the club don't mean you hate the place it means you have an opinion - harden up lads and ladies
  17. Strauss for Grimes Harsh on the co-captian and a much better defender then Strauss but I'd like to see an elite ball user off the HBF Big if - but if strauss can find a role his ball use will be much needed in the back 6.... Grimes IMO is no lost cause - decision making and take contact with the ball and not be a cat is very frustrating Shoot me down but that's how i see it
  18. Hell yeah Enjoy this one boys and girls lets hope this is the beginning of a new era GO DEES
  19. Carlton are last in a lot of categories - I'll also throw it out there if we can't get a w this week we might not get one all year
  20. Best of luck big Mitch Will always have fond memories of him roaming the G I hope he get's himself right ... MFC 4 eva
  21. I'm throwing it out there that if we get 22 blokes to play a committed 120 mins of footy Sat arvo we'll win. Now theres a big if there as we need 22 blokes to show up (whoever gets picked) but these blokes are primed to be knocked off.. if the effort is there and sustained against these blokes the goals will come
  22. I'll probably get shot down pretty quickly for this but........ Is this the week the Doom and Gloom stops and some positivity starts? I like many of you have had to put up with a lot of rubbish and bad times over the past few years and the year to date has been pretty poor. I've thought about it and although I was upset when GWS kicked away in the last I am going to get up and about for this game against the Blues for a couple of reasons.... I've watched the Blues a few times this year and they are front runners - if we can get first hands on the ball we're a big chance. They also have mediocre talls much like us at the moment which evens up the game as we are ok defensively, we're not great but we are not bleeding goal upon goal. The Blues are playing bruise free footy - lets not tippy toe around it (I watched Sunday and they were poor) this style of footy the Blues play would really give our blokes some more time to make decisions and use the pill a lot better - much like the NAB Challenge game against the Tigers where actually we looked ok. I don't normally get too optimistic about the Dees these days and I'll readily admit the Blues are a lot better unit on paper. But maybe just maybe this Is a week where a couple boys come in (Dawes etc) find some form pull something out of the hat? C'mon Dees - it's about bloody time to beat these bastards and put them where we've been for a few years now! Go boys!
  23. Not sure what you're saying HH Neeld could coach or Roos can't? Beleive me I am [censored] with what i've seen so far but although we've suffered for a long time expectations need to be checked - or am I forgetting where I am?
  24. Agreed - the only worry is for how long will he be there?
