  1. Both are contracted for next year. Brown will likely retire early as his knee is stuffed. He’s already involved with coaching our women’s team and other off field initiatives, so he’s prepared for his next stage of life and would move on happily. TMac will stick around next year. Doubt he’ll have any meaningful impact, but we lack tall forward depth and don’t want to blow cash paying out multiple contracted players when our depth is already taking a hit this off season. We need to chase another key forward for sure. Petty looked decent later in the year before injury, but isn’t exactly durable either. We need more options.
  2. He’s definitely what we need as a quick skilled midfielder, but will be gone before our picks it seems.
  3. Sanders is probably the most rounded midfielder in this crop. Finds ball inside, applies pressure, good burst of pace, great decision maker, clean disposal, always looks to his teammates advantage, good size. Would be happy with him with our first pick if he’s available. Ideal outcome IMO is trading up so we have two top ten picks and landing Sanders and O’Sullivan.
  4. Official. Posted on MFC socials. Best of luck to Yze! He’ll always be a demon. Been trying for years to take the next step and now he’s senior coach of one of the biggest clubs in the land. Now we’ll need a new midfield coach. Timing is right for both him and us.
  5. That’s a shame. He was basically the perfect low cost option for us. Tall forward who can clunk a mark, only 23 years old and has potential to be a solid player, even if only as a stop gap for a few years while others develop. Who else is on the market? Chol is the only other tall forward who’s actually being shopped around.
  6. 8 seasons. Drafted end of 2015. Makes it even more damning that a player has only just made it to 70 games after 8 seasons on a list as he’s constantly injured. He’s also below average when he does get on the park, and at one stage mid year had lost more one on one contests than any other defender in the league. He’s not athletically gifted either. He’s worth a third rounder. He’s basically a less durable and worse version of Tomlinson. It’s mind blowing he could get them first round compo or that any team is willing to pay him more than 200-300k.
  7. That is massive over compensation for a team with possibly the best young midfield in the league already. They just need time for their kids to come on. If that compo is accurate, it basically ruins the first round of this this years draft and I'd be hoping we trade out into future if possible, as our picks after 5 (which becomes 7) become weak.
  8. We enquired about Jacob Koschitze in the past. Showed a lot of potential in 2021 and 2022 before having an interrupted and disappointing 2023. He might be gettable very cheap. Only 23 years old and perfect size at 198cm and 96kgs. Can clunk and a mark. We should enquire again…
  9. Article title says “ex afl gun unloads…”. Who was it? Campbell Brown was as far from a gun as possible. He’s a pathetic drunken battler, and the fact he has a media job sums up the state of Australian media and journalism. Ignore him and move on. We’ll reload next year and be in contention again. The only thing he’ll reload is a slab of beer and a criminal record for his poor behavior.
  10. I like the look of him. If we wind up taking two first round picks to draft, I'm hoping for Mckercher as a running skilled midfielder to complement our overly inside mids, and O'Sullivan as a KPD Steven May replacement in future.
  11. He's a battler. Burst onto the scene 4-5 years ago with great run and found a bit of ball. His ball use has always ben suspect though, and he's been pushed out of the midfield rotation by superior players. He'll likely find a home somewhere else in future, but he's a battler and wouldn't get a game for us. His younger brother in the draft this year on the other hand... he's got potential.
  12. Good news IMO. Our depth is going to be eroded over the next season or two, and Tomlinson has been more than serviceable playing a tall defender role which helps May and Lever be at their best.
  13. Can someone explain the me the reason why Schsche was sub, and then why he wasn’t even used? Goodwin said in his presser that we wanted a tall option and needed someone to contest and bring it to ground, but were happy with how it was going so didn’t use him. That makes no sense given TMacs output and our lack of cohesion inside 50.
  14. Forward half players and assistant coaches shake up. Marking forwards. Forwards who can convert their opportunities. Don’t have to be superstars. If they can kick 2 goals a game then that’s all we need. Assistant coaches need a shake up. If Yze gets the tigers job, then go get a gun midfield coach who can get more out of the elite inside midfield talent we have. Stafford as forward coach just hasn’t worked. Get someone who can actually teach them to lead to the right places, block for each other etc. It’s not that hard surely!
  15. Sucks that despite this being the best Melbourne team in my lifetime, I haven’t got to watch a winning final at the MCG since 2018. We blew both games again this year. We controlled both games and generated more shots. Just didn’t convert. Maxs misses, Kozzies misses, you have to kick those. Feels like we’re wasting a great list and strongly bonded group. Our window won’t last much longer with Max, May, Viney all getting older now and others retiring or done already like Hibberd, Brown, Melksham, McDonald etc.
  16. Schache confirmed sub by Stafford on SEN
  17. Lilydale line train actually much busier this week. Melbourne Storm playing tonight also so it’s packed!
  18. Who’s the likely sub tonight? Laurie really struggled with the intensity of the game last week, so it feels like we need someone with more experience or competitiveness.
  19. Lovely day today. Looking forward to the g tonight. Hopefully it’s a better result and less vile crowd than last week. Dees by 14 points.
  20. You’re being generous with 1 out of 80 though. I can’t remember him sticking one! we definitely need him firing to win this week given our lack of firepower up forward now. He’s looked dangerous recently but been inaccurate and rushed when taking shots.
  21. Eddie is a walking racist pig. No surprise that morally bankrupt fool was celebrating someone wearing prison bars getting off for caving an opponents head in. Disgusting pr*ck. I saw ex pies player Brodie Holland wrote a long piece about Melbourne FC and it’s supporters being sooks. Bit rich coming from a known sniper and a wimp who literally burst into tears on field when he lost and had to have a cuddle from his coach to be consoled. What a tragic waste of skin his existence is. Pathetic human.
  22. Looks like he’s gonna get off here. That was a weak submission from the AFL. Pies defense picking it apart now. These tribunal hearings are some seriously braindead representations. How are these people paid professionals? I feel like a first year uni student can mount a better case than these clowns!
  23. I swear to god if this Neanderthal gets off I’m done with football. It’s as if he was born with a dropped cumquat for a brain.
