  1. Big flop. He wouldn't be in our top 10 players on form, and we're legit rubbish at the moment. He wasn't worth what we would've paid for him on previous All Aus form. Thank God that trade didn't work out and we wound up with Langford and Lindsey instead!
  2. Best of luck to Jai this week. Always nice to see a lifelong Demon supporter pull on the red and blue! Pathetic post. Pull your head in you pelican.
  3. Game styles are dictated by the rules. The AFL have been tweaking the rules over the past 5-10 years to encourage fast and high scoring play. As a result, coaches have had a lot of options taken away from them, and have had to shift their game style and recruit accordingly. Numerous coaches in interviews over the years have spoken about how the 6-6-6 rule disarms them. For young teams, it has made defending increasingly harder and led to bigger blow outs. Deliberate out of bounds, deliberate behinds, stand rule etc are all rules that disarm them and make defending harder. The new kick-out rules were designed to get the ball further into play, quicker, and make defending harder. Good teams often concede on kick-ins and try to win it back at half back these days - think teams like Geelong, Brisbane, Collingwood that all intercept and then rebound with a rocket through a combo of foot speed and efficient kicking. As a result of the more recent rules changes, n the past 3-4 years coaches have abandoned contested styles and moved to scoring more from rebound, hence quick ball movement. We are trending the right way and are actually one of the fastest ball moving teams this season. Our problem is while the players move the ball quickly, they don't structure properly and don't have the foot skills to hit harder kicks that poor structure causes. Bombing it quickly is moving quickly, but not effectively. When we've played well this year, it's looked slick and we've hit Melksham, Fritsch, and others on a lead. When we don't play well and fold under pressure, it's quick mindless bombs to nothing, and we get torched on the rebound. Our list needs a revamp, as the core is ageing and was built through the Roos era to be contested and defensive, not focused on skill and offense. We've started that revamp with some talented kids such as Kozzie, Langford, Lindsey, Windsor, McVee etc, but we're a way off the best teams to be consistently competitive due to the age and skill profile of our list. IMO it's more of a personnel issue than a game style issue at present.
  4. Outside Coleman, they're all battlers who can't get a game or past it. What's the story with Keidean Coleman? I know he's been injured. Is he in VFL due to returning from injury or has he fallen out of favor? He's a game changer, but doubt he's available.
  5. I agree the threats to Goodwins safety are not acceptable and horrifying. That shouldn't have been the only point of the message to members though. Surely speak to what's gone wrong and what's being done to put us on the right path again. The email feels like it was knocked up but ChatGPT, but he added a condition to the prompt that said "remove any accountability or actions and keep it vague".
  6. Game's broken.
  7. The 'we're back in finals' brochures the club prematurely sent out still haunt me
  8. From a premiership to worst last quarter loss of all time in just a few years. Sadly it looks like we're back to making embarrassing records again!
  9. Melksham slotting them from anywhere these days. Brilliant kick
  10. Good start today. Amazing what a difference more accurate shooting does... Good to see Fritsch smashing it in the air and on the scoreboard!
  11. 100%. Intentional front on bump late after the ball had left the area. Barely registered a free kick and won't even get looked at. The game is f****d
  12. I feel sorry for May. He could've actually tried to clean Evans up and it's wouldn't be far far worse. Instead he did the right thing and elected not to bump at all and still copped a three week suspension. Poor bastard. Hopefully he snaps Moores spine with a rogue knee at some point.
  13. Sums it up. A Collingwood player can intentional try to cause harm to an opponent with non football related actions that would be deemed assault off field... not even cited. Player from another team accidentally collided with an opponent as part of a football contest where he tried to avoid harming the opponent... Three weeks suspension. The game is ruined. The joy of watching and supporting is gone. We've now got endless rule changes that can't even be officiated consistently and blatant corruption to deal with. I'm done. Collingwood were illegitimate premiers in 2023. If they win again this year, they will be illegitimate again. People on here can call me a whinger, I don't give a [censored]. This isn't a sport anymore - it's a fixed spectacle. It's basically WWE sports entertainment level production.
  14. I'm at least in acceptance of my denial!
  15. Nearly 40 years watching multiple games every weekend and I've hit breaking point thanks to umpiring. The rules keep changing and the umpires can't officiate a fair game at this point. It's not just Melbourne games - every game feels confusing and like a narrative is being crafted. I miss actual football.
  16. Floating mark over unsuspecting pack. Nothing tough about it as spectacular as it was.
  17. Holding the ball only applies to one team apparently?? Get stuffed umpires. SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT.
  18. He's the only reason to watch this team. He's absolutely unreal!
  19. It was a routine win against a 17th placed team that's been bottom four for over half a decade... It was in no way impressive.
  20. And we let them go coast to coast for another shot. Weak and lazy. This team is cooked
  21. TDK is possibly the softest big man I've ever seen. He gets out marked by blokes 20cms shorter and 20kgs lighter than him. Constantly [censored] his dacks. If he's worth over a million to a team, then actual footballers like Kozzie must be worth 10 million a year.
  22. Watching footy is excruciating these days. We've entered the realm of sports entertainment where everyone is waiting to see how umpires interpret rules and it feels like outcomes are fixed. I'm not even complaining about Melbourne games - all AFL games feel wrong these days. Maybe I'm just getting old and cynical, but I've watched 1000s of games and the game has never been worse.
  23. Goalless quarter against a dog**** team. I expected a bit more fire for Clarrys 200th. What a disappointment that half was. Cmon Dees wake up for [censored] sake!!
  24. Regardless of his recent form and issues, he's still a champion of this club. He's one of the best midfielders we've had in my lifetime, and I'd say he's possibly the best inside midfielder to ever pull on the red and blue. Peak Clarry was unstoppable around the contest and a key reason we won a premiership. He deserves a ton of respect and admirations from fans and the general football public. Two time AFLCA MVP - the only other player to do that is Gary Ablett Jnr, who's a potential GOAT. Even now while he's not at his dominant peak, his stats still stack up well against the comp and he's well above average for an inside mid, just not elite. Will always love Clarry!
  25. That was from the match on the weekend. He was our hardest working defensive runner. He was second the week before too. It's a strength of his that the coaches love, similar to Nibbler over the past few years and Gus Brayshaw when he played as a defensive winger in our flag year. Just because you don't see it on TV doesn't mean it's not happening. If he continues to build his fitness and body so he can consistently get involved in more offensive chains and contests then we're onto a winner.
