Hail and over 12 hours straight of rain overnight with 10mm plus. Ground will be soggy and it’ll be a slog in the wet all day.

Heavy rain isn’t good for us IMO. We are very reliant on Gawns marking at both ends and May+Lever intercept marking to cut off attacks and start scoring chains going forward. If Kozzie can’t dominate at ground level in the wet then I worry we’ll lose. Hopefully our midfield are up for it today. They’ll need to be clean to own the stoppages and territory battle so we can lock the ball in our forward half.

Just chucking this in here in case anyone else runs into weird issues trying to redeem the $5 Kayo deal you get this year through Telstra. No matter if I went through Telstra account of AFL app link to Kayo, I couldn’t get it to work and kept getting generic error about account creation/link. Went through Telstra support and nothing wrong on their end. Went through Kayo support and after a week of no solution they discovered my mobile number was attached to an account that was never activated. Kayo accounts use a platform called SteamMotion which uses your mobile number to verify, so they can stop people redeeming multiple free trials. Somehow my phone number got attached to an account with an email address and details completely unrelated to me?! They removed it from their end and I was able to then able to create the account fine. Hopefully this post helps someone else if they run into similar issues!

Poor quality game tonight. Swans struggling to get their corridor game going well and blew lots of easy shots at goal early on. Bombers just hanging in there.

Petracca talks are well underway. Sounds like an extension will get done this season. Likely it will be a decent deal, but not a one club kind of deal, so he’ll be a free agent again in a few years. Oliver’s contract is more about money than anything. Club has been in dialogue with his manager, but they’re still not close. Club wants to lock him in longer term, but he and manager are pushing for short contract on bigger dollars and then becoming a free agent after that. If he doesn’t get to play finals consistently in the coming years, he’ll chase free agency to a stronger club. This one will drag out a bit from what I heard. Hopefully it gets done. Clarry is a gun and it would be a disaster to see the best inside mid we’ve had in my lifetime walk out on the club.

Kayo broken for me. It is the ****test thing I’ve ever paid money for. Such a worthless money sucker platform. 2/3 matches so far it won’t load. Can’t even pay to watch the ducking game anymore. The AFL media deal is pathetic and against the spirit of the game.

Travis Johnstone - best kick I’ve seen in red and blue. Loved watching him stream up the wing of the G and hit Neitz with a laser on his chest. He copped a tag every week due to his impact and ability. Loved he was a big game player who always stood up in finals. Lead the league in kicks and score assists. Underrated despite never reaching his full potential. David Neitz - champion of the club and a great leader. Could perform well both as a forward or defender. Leading Melbourne goal kicker and games captained. Only 300 game player. Legend. David Schwarz - knee injuries stopped him becoming the best player in the league. His 1994 season was incredible. Loved his athleticism and marking as a kid. For a big guy he was freakish with his ability to evade and weave through traffic before slamming through goals. Allen Jakovich - most exciting demon I’ve seen. Would kick bags and bags of goals and pull insane scores out of his [censored]. He was an old fashioned footballer. Back injuries robbed him of becoming a great of the game, as he was on track to being one of the greatest goal kickers of all time with huge average goals kicked. Fastest player to 50 and 100 goals ever. Adem Yze - like Travis, a silky kick. He excelled off half back, midfield and up forward. Kicked some brilliant goals too, a real talent. It annoys me he’s often remembered for struggling at the end of his career and not being a gun throughout most of it. Oliver and Gawn close to entering my list, but will wait until post career to judge.

Side note: Langdon is definitely a superior wingman to Hill and cost half the price. We nailed that trade!

We looked better with Jackson in the ruck. Perhaps the unpredictability of that allows our mids to get on their bike a bit. Lots more movement in the middle there.
