We need Lockhart to come on as a small defender, as Jetta is on his last legs and may be gone next season. Lockhart has shown he's got pace, skills, good defensive pressure, bit of mongrel and a decent footy brain. He just needs to keep his body healthy and try to build consistency. It was disappointing to see him dropped later in the year. Hopefully he establishes himself next season and becomes a mainstay in the back pocket longer term.
-
Try him forward next season and if it doesn't work then he's an easy delist option. He showed a bit in a preseason game as a forward once, so try him there. As a defender in 2020, he stunk. He would've been absolutely embarrassed most weeks if it wasn't for Lever and May covering for him. His game against Carlton early in the year was just about the worst game I've seen from a demon in 30+ years. He's got no football brain and poor skills. I'd have delisted him now, but since we've extended him for another season, try him forward then delist him.

Was decent as an outside mid at underage level, but has struggled at AFL level. Averaging 7 disposals in 2020, and 13 across his 3 seasons. First round pick a few years ago so clearly has talent. Wouldn't give up more than a 4th rounder for him now though.

If he was wanting to stay in Victoria, why would we not target him? He's a gun midfielder with pace who can kick goals. His field kicking isn't the best, but he's still a very very good midfielder. He puts on good defensive pressure (rated elite, ave 5 tackles a game across his career), links up well around the ground (rated elite, ave 16 uncontested possessions a game across career), can win hard ball (rated elite, 5 clearances, 10 contested possessions) and elite for metres gained (ave just under 350). Pies would pay 200k of his salary, he's 27 years old and in his prime. Because they've publicly spat the dummy, he'll cost less in draft picks than he normally would've. Midfield of Petracca, Oliver, Treloar, Viney, Langdon, Smith, Brayshaw looks very good!

Also, [censored] Richmond. Most annoying team in the league. Hate them more than any other and seeing them win again leaves me with a foul taste in my mouth.

Sad to see Gary Jnr end his career. Best player I’ve ever seen. Best player in the league from 2007-2014. 2 Browlows. 5 time MVP. 8 time All Australian. Congratulations Gary. Superstar!

Has been poor all year and surely retiring after this match. He’s worse than TMac at this point!
-
It was enjoyable to watch, but jeez the title was way off and taints it. Never made it back from hell. Been 56 years now. If the club does another one of these, just name it preseason 2021 or something. Don’t get ahead of ourselves.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Lord Travis replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
An elite KPF in Brown is a bit different to playing an inferior and broken player in TMac. We play Brown and Weid as the two tall targets. Jackson plays as a roaming option pushing further up the ground as a marking option, similar to Richardson at Tigers later in his career. Fritsch isn't a tall, and will play pocket or flank regardless of those talls around him. Successful teams have multiple tall marking options. No reason we can't too. Brown immediately improves our scoring, takes pressure off Weid being double teamed, and allows Jackson to develop at a realistic rate without heaping too much pressure on the 19 year old kid. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN

Pick 23 is a bargain. If that's all we have to pay to get a proven ready-made KPF who has performed better than any forward we've had since Neitz, then it's a [censored] bargain. This one must be getting close now! -
Late 3rd - early 4th round pick would be about right. Bulldogs have pick 48, but no 4th rounder. So it's pick 48 or pick 84 unless there's swaps or players involved. Getting 48 for Hannan would be a win IMO.
-
We’ll trade him to his desired destination for a token late pick or he’ll get there as a delisted free agent.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
Lord Travis replied to Bizzell Blitz's topic in Melbourne Demons
The club got rid of him for a reason, and he’s only gotten worse since then both on-field and off-field. More chance of him signing on with the Melbourne Storm than us taking him back I’d say! -
There’s more to it than eyes for the same girl, including some unwanted advances. They did fall out over it and it was one of the main reasons Langdon wanted out of WA. Blakely is a pass or Langdon walks.
-
He’s got potential. 22 year old tall forward/ruck. This clip shows his best and worst in a minute. Has a good leap and can split a pack and clunk a mark. I’d take him as a cheap option, even as depth. https://www.afl.com.au/video/461055/best-and-worst-of-big-sav-within-a-minute?videoId=461055&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1593851975001

Wrong form, should be in Trading and draft forum. Also, bad blood between him and Langdon involving a girlfriend. Will not be an option.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Lord Travis replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Been covered already in this thread. Brown and North had a falling out over the way North handled him during the death of his unborn baby. Both he and his wife were obviously mentally effected by losing one of their babies and felt the club handled his situation with a lack of empathy. At one point the club wanted him to go to a hub and leave his unwell wife alone. Browns form was poor this year due to not being mentally committed to playing and therefore not being fully physically fit either. Sounds like the couple have now moved past what's happened and Brown is ready to be back committed full-time to an AFL environment. If he gets traded for a 2nd-3rd round pick as touted, he'll be an absolute bargain! Hopefully it's us who lands the bargain and big goal kicking forward we need. Sidenote: North are absolutely cooked as a club from top to bottom. Wouldn't be surprised if they fold, relocate or merge in the coming years. They're currently in the worst state of any club this century, even worse than us at our lowest ebb. -
They are one of the Cats sponsors, that is the point of that joke tweet.
-
All quiet on the Western Front here... seems a done deal according to most. 3 years is probably a stretch, but it will be good to have another player from that successful Hawthorn environment teaching our youngsters.
-
Jeez Clark would be a good get. He was brilliant at underage level as a running halfback flanker for WA. Good turn of pace, decent agility, good skills by hand and foot, aggressive at ball in the air and ground level. He could definitely be a wingman at AFL level if his fitness is up to scratch. Don't think we've got the right currency to get him, but you never know! As for Cameron, he's off to Cats and probably not much to discuss in relation to him.
-
Clark as in Jordan Clark at the Cats? Are there any report he wants out or is up for trade? He's a first round pick who's only 1-2 years into his career! Hard midfield to break into down there at Geelong....
-
He's just turned 22, so he's still young for a tall forward/ruck and has some good attributes to build with the right development. We'd get him for a 3rd or 4th round pick. He's worth that cheap punt IMO.
-
Something needs to change. You’ve got a team playing in the grand final with this seasons Coleman medalist... about to bring in a former Coleman medalist without even needing to use a draft pick. Meanwhile we pay two first round picks for Jake Lever.
-
The issue is they won’t have to pay overs. A lowly club would have to pay overs to land a star, where as a successful club like Geelong won’t have to - the player will take a pay cut to experience success. It’s happening more and more. These players make so much money that an extra few hundred thousand over a few years is negligible, they’ll just take less cash to experience success. Top clubs are propped up for lengthy periods. The struggling clubs struggle for lengthier periods. The AFLPA got what they wanted. The game is worse for it.
-
Would take him as a cheap option. KPF who can play ruck so improves our depth in our weakest list position.
