Righto round 2 here we go. Good luck everyone!
-
Tickets timed out. MCC now showing as sold out. I loathe these online ticketing websites. The only way I can be repaid for this [censored] is to bathe in the blood of the Ticketek CEO while watching us win from the boundary line somehow.
-
Christ. 3 different devices on 2 different networks and only just got through. Ticketek site then timed out when I got to the end. Back into the queue I go. I [censored] hate this pathetic scum of a site
-
How good is Ticketek?!
-
Pass. Has struggled to break into a poor team and then not really shown anything to excite at AFL level when he played. Much better options out there for midfield and flank depth. Flanders I would be keen on however.
-
His form hasn’t been great recently regardless. If Hibberd is over concussion symptoms and is fit, I’d bring him in for Bowey. Defense wins premierships, and Hibbo is a top tier defender who can lock down the small-mid size game breakers like Jamie Elliott, Charlie Cameron etc. We’ve got rebound covered elsewhere, especially with the recent rise of Rivers.
-
Would take him… but not at 700k. He’s a good midfielder who finds a lot of ball, but he’s not a game breaker and we’ve got enough of an issue fitting all our guns into the salary cap in coming years. If we’re going to spend that sort of coin, it needs to be on a key forward or game breaker. Decent pay cut to play in a side fighting for flags or it’s a pass.
-
Gutted for him. After missing out on playing in a flag in 2021, he’s busted his [censored] to get back in the team and have an impact. Really impressive how he’s held out forward line together at this stage of his career and without him we wouldn’t have finished top four. He’s been a match winner. If it is an ACL, then that’s a sad and unfair way to end of his career. Fingers crossed it’s just a tweak and he gets a chance to play finals.
-
Our backline is just so much better with Tomlinson in there. He’s not superstar, but he plays his lockdown role well enough (88% one on one win rate, best at the club). He allows the rest of our backs to play to their strengths. It’s almost become comical now watching our defense turn to water when he’s dropped. We’re just cruising today so fingers crossed for no injuries.
-
Reckon the Swans will be fired up at home and beat us. They’ve got a home final to play for. We’ll give a decent account of ourselves but ultimately fall short and have key players spend long periods on the bench.
-
In all seriousness, I can’t see how this will happen now. They’ll likely only trade down if they can get the local lad Curtin. His stocks have risen and he likely won’t be there for them at pick 4/5. If he’s off the table, then I’d think Reid is off the table. More likely now they either take Reid or Curtin with pick 1 rather than trade it.

Wow what are North doing?! Reid back on the cards here?!? The twists and turns of all the death rides and scenarios confuse the [censored] out of me! -

Looking like the worst possible result today with Freo starting to belt the Hawks and Gold Coast barely scraping by. Still a decent result all up to get pick 5 from the Jacko trade last year. -

Fingers crossed the Hawks lift and win this. Also hoping the Suns belt North from here as insurance. -

No stats support what the AFL site says there. Quite the opposite in fact! See an extract from a previous post of mine regarding Ben Mckay stats: "On 2023 form, he's lost 41% of one on one contests, which ranks him as the worst key defender in the league. Outright statistically worst tall defender in the league. He's averaged a bit under 2 intercept marks a game. For context, May has lost 21%, Lever 25%. Tomlinson surprisingly has been our strongest defender in the contest, and has only lost 12% of one on one contests and averages a bit over 1 intercept mark a game, including matches where he's been subbed off. Statistically, Ben McKay is work the Tomlinson, so if Ben McKay is worth a first round pick, then so is Tomlinson, and we all know neither are". In no way is Ben McKay worth anything more than 2nd or 3rd round compensation. If a club is willing to pay him $800,000+, then they're run by a drugged up lunatic mid-[censored].

Not yet. Would be happy to throw Freos second rounder their way if we don’t use it to trade up for another pick in the top ten. Flanders is AFL ready and performing well in the midfield now he’s got his chance. Can play inside or outside and form part of our rotation after our big guns.

Ladhams is an almighty spud (known unaffectionately to swans fans as “the peanut”). He’s 26 next season and yet to show anything at AFL level. Completely ineffective around the ground, in the ruck, and is as stupid as they come with fake tough guy stuff. My swans supporting mates all sink in shame when he’s named and would rather play without a ruckman than have that dumb spud run around in their jumper. I’d be devastated if we traded away Grundy only to bring Ladhams. We’ve for currency to try and shake loose a gun tall forward like Harry McKay or Ben King again. May as well have a crack while we can and if it doesn’t work out then we just take the good picks to draft.
-
I get your point, but teams don’t mind Saad having the ball as while he provides run, he generally kicks it 60 metres straight upwards and isn’t overly effective. Had a good year last year, but bit of a butcher. Rivers is already producing more goals assists, more score involvements, more score launches. Testament to Rivers that he’s already surpassed Saad as a player at such a young age!
-
Rivers copped a tag in the last quarter. Goodwin acknowledged it and shows how highly regarded Rivers is!

Thought this thread was going to be a trade related rumor about Finn Callahan or something juicy… Hope all is well and no heads go missing WCW

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Lord Travis replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Perfect fit for us with our teens pick if he’s available!
